‘Incredible’: The Lidl Christmas ad has reduced us to total mush
Our expectations were high for the annual bawl-fest that is the John Lewis Christmas ad, but it looks like no one saw Lidl coming!
The supermarket chain has emerged with THE advert of the festive season, both heartbreaking and heart-warming in equal measure.
The advert shows a family returning to their old home, blowing the dust off the furniture and getting it Christmas-ready for a very special guest: Granddad.
It would appear that Granny passed away before Christmas, and the family wants to make a very special gesture of love and comfort to Granddad – by bringing him back their first home and celebrating the festive season all together.
As Granddad’s heart sinks, looking at the empty chair beside him; his spirits are immediately lifted when his adorable granddaughter takes a seat.

Needless to say, the internet has been reduced to total mush ever since the advert was released.
“What a beautiful Christmas ad, well done Lidl,” tweeted one fan, while cry-face memes and emojis have been filling up our timelines.
