World Chocolate Day, celebrated every year on the 7th of July, is a delightful occasion that celebrates the sheer deliciousness of chocolate. This special day acknowledges the rich history and global significance of this beloved treat. From its ancient origins as a sacred elixir to its modern-day status as a universal delight, chocolate has captivated the taste buds of people from all walks of life. This year, it happens to fall on a Friday so it would be rude not to make chocolate our treat of choice this weekend. To celebrate, we are making an easy but indulgent Dark Chocolate & Hazelnut Mug Brownie. Microwaving in a mug is ideal for when you want a comforting pudding in minutes. Mug cakes have been around for a while, so the Lindt Master Chocolatiers thought they would go one step further and created this fudgy dark chocolate and roasted hazelnut brownie recipe which is ultra indulgent and utterly irresistible.

Dark Chocolate & Hazelnut Mug Brownie
Ingredients
- 40 g self-raising flour
- 10 g cocoa powder
- 25 g soft brown sugar
- 4 to 5 tbsp full-fat milk
- 30 g butter, melted
- 35 g Lindt EXCELLENCE Roasted Hazelnut Dark Chocolate, finely chopped
Method
- Step 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder and sugar.
- Step 2. Whisk in the milk, followed by the melted butter until you have a smooth batter.
- Step 3. Spoon half the batter into a large microwave-safe mug, sprinkle in ⅔ of the finely chopped Lindt EXCELLENCE Roasted Hazelnut Dark Chocolate, before topping with the remaining batter. Nestle in the remaining finely chopped chocolate.
- Step 4. Set onto a microwave-safe plate and microwave for about 70 seconds – it may take a little longer (up to 90 seconds) – the exact time will vary depending on your microwave and the dimensions of your mug.
- Step 5. Carefully remove from the microwave (it will be hot!) and leave to stand for 10 seconds.
- Step 6. Grab a spoon and enjoy!
