Kate Ferdinand posts emotional update on baby daughter Shae
Kate Ferdinand’s youngest has reached a new milestone!
In July of last year, the former star of The Only Way Is Essex welcomed her daughter Shae into the world, alongside her husband, retired footballer Rio Ferdinand.
The couple are also parents to their three-year-old son Cree, as well as Rio’s three older children – Lorenz (18), Tate (16) and Tia (13).
Now, after celebrating Shae’s first birthday earlier this year, Kate has revealed an emotional update on her daughter’s progress.
Last night, the 33-year-old took to Instagram to post a video clip of little Shae moving around the Ferdinand family home on a scooter.
“Can’t get over this,” Kate penned alongside the sweet footage.
“My clever little girl has taught herself how to use a scooter,” she exclaimed further.
“How is she one and scooting around the place?” Kate wrote in conclusion.
Kate’s adorable update comes less than three months after she revealed that Shae had started walking for the first time.
On June 27, the former reality star took to Instagram to post a heartwarming video of herself encouraging Shae to walk.
The video captured the tot’s first steps, as proud mum Kate guided her forward with books and toys.
“My baby is on the move,” the podcaster gushed in her caption.
Kate and Rio welcomed their little girl into the world last summer, but Kate later admitted that Shae’s arrival was not a smooth one. Shae was transferred to NICU with congenital pneumonia, which can cause respiratory distress within the first 24 hours of a newborn’s life.
In October, Kate spoke on her podcast Blended about how she was immediately worried about Shae after her birth.
“She was really, really cold. She was very blue so they wrapped her up really tight and I just felt very spaced out when she was given to me,” she recalled.
“In that moment, it’s just terrifying, absolutely terrifying because you think, ‘Are they going to live? Are they going to be okay?’. When you hear, ‘She’s not getting enough oxygen’, that just sounds really, really scary,” she added.
