Leonardo DiCaprio lands lead in revenge thriller The Revenant
Leonardo DiCaprio has landed a very exciting role as a real-life frontiersman looking for revenge in The Revenant.
The 39-year-old Oscar-nominee is set to take on the role of Hugh Glass, who is mauled by a grizzly bear in the movie adaptation of Michael Punke’s book The Revenant: A Novel Of Revenge.
Academy Award-nominated Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu – famed for his 2006 drama Babel starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett – will direct the film which he co-wrote with Mark. L. Smith.
Although no further cast members have been revealed, the film is set to start production in November and will be released in autumn next year.
DiCaprio last hit the big screen in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street and was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of corrupt stock broker Jordan Belfort.
Meanwhile, Inarritu‘s next movie Birdman, which stars Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts, is due out in October.
