Major blow for Zayn Malik at last night’s One Direction concert
Last night marked One Direction’s first concert performance as a four-piece, but it’s safe to say that Zayn Malik’s presence was felt both on stage and throughout Cardiff’s Millenium Stadium – and not exactly in a good way.
Fans of the boy band were left devastated earlier this year when Zayn announced his decision to quit, and since details of his solo plans were revealed, he has faced a wave of backlash.
The aggro towards the 22-year-old appeared to reach fever pitch last night however, when concert-goers in Cardiff erupted in a chorus of boos when his image was flashed up on the screen.
Whether the lads had intended to pay tribute to Zayn, or it was just a serious oversight on the part of their managers, the decision to feature Zayn in an opening montage seems to have gone down like a lead balloon among fans.
Zayn can take some comfort in the fact that a number of fans were horrified by the booing however, with some taking to Twitter to send him messages of support.

“Do not think about the people who booed you. Just saw your picture on the screen, you’ll always be my idol, I love you. I miss you, goodnight @zaynmalik,” wrote one devoted fan.
With rumours this weekend that Zayn is turning his attention to the theatre industry, let’s hope that the crowds will be a bit more forgiving!
