Meghan Markle’s father will NOT be attending the royal wedding

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, will not be there to see his daughter and Prince Harry tie the knot.

“This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding," a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said, according to People.

"She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”

Kensington Palace had detailed earlier this month how Thomas would be walking the former Suits star down the aisle. Sadly, though, other arrangements will have to be made.

TMZ reports that Thomas says he will not attend because he doesn't want to cause his daughter embarrassment after making a deal with a photo agency. The deal allowed to agency to take snaps of him preparing for the big day.

Thomas claims that his main motivation for making the deal with the paparazzi agency was not money, but rather to improve his image. Since his daughter's relationship with Harry went public, he has been photographed in unflattering situations. 

Meghan's father now says, though, that the pictures from the photo deal look 'stupid and hammy'.

On Monday, Thomas also told TMZ he had a heart attack six days ago and had checked himself out of hospital so he would be ready to witness his daughter's nuptials. However, the former TV lighting director says he will no longer be going.

Meghan's half-sister Samantha Markle took responsibility for the paparazzi deal their father made, saying on ITV's Loose Women that she was 'entirely the culprit'.

"I said the world has no idea that you're getting in shape and doing healthy things," Samantha shared.

She was also asked if Thomas had been paid. Samantha said she didn't think he was, but also could not be sure.

"I do not believe so. That was not the motive – it was my suggestion," she noted.

"I have no idea. But if he did, I am going to assume it was a pittance – they don't pay that much. It really was so the world could see him doing the healthy things."

People reports that Samantha will not be at the wedding, and neither will Thomas Markle Jr (Meghan's half-brother).
