Micro-trend alert: Tie dye is back for 2019 – for work, not festivals
Tie-dye is generally associated with the hippies of the 60s and 70s, Full Moon parties in Thailand and festival season.
However, for SS19, designers are pushing tie-dye as a micro-trend for the office, brunch or a night out rather than a tropical holiday or music festival.
The looks was dotted all over the SS19 runway shows, at major fashion houses like Prabal Guruing, R13, MSGM and Stella McCartney.
Here are six ways to wear the boho style in 2019:
For Work
This stunning Tie-Dye animal print skirt from Next is perfect for the office. Team with a black jumper and boots like the model shown, or add white runners, a white t-shirt and denim jacket for casual Fridays,
This Mango lace-topped camisole is perfect for layering (and it's on sale!). For a busy day at work, wear it over a light turtleneck top an black jeans, then whip off the turtleneck and add a leather jacket for desk-to-dancefloor ease.
For a hectic day of meetings, this Topshop tie-dye print dress is ideal – add heels for the boardroom or go for easy to wear mules and a trench coat for an on-trend look. While the tie dye trend might come and go, the print on this guna doesn't scream hippy, so we will be stashing it away for an end-of-year winter wedding, where sky-high heels, a warm-toned clutch, statement necklace and cropped fur jacket will breath new life into the trend for a colder season.
For Play
This Topshop sponge painted blouse would also look fab at work tucked into a tailored trouser, but teamed with killer heels and a black leather skirt the shirt would look flawless.
Mango's Northern Lights remnant print is so good, we'll take both the cami and the lace-edged slip dress. For the colder months, we're throwing this on over thick tights and a grey turtleneck with our chunkiest coat, and when the weather warms up, add Dr Martins, bare legs and an oversized blazer.
The simplicity of a good t-shirt is elevated with a hint of tie-dye print. This ASOS tie-dye summery t-shirt is a winner tucked into any pair of jeans, or amplify your brunch casual style by pairing this with a metallic pleated midi skirt and a pair of sandals.
