Model quits Twitter after death threats over controversial tweets
It has not been a good week for Chrissy Teigen.
The model announced that she is quitting Twitter after receiving a tirade of abuse and death threats after her controversial tweets about the tragic shootings in Canada earlier this week.
She came in for severe criticism when she took to her social media after news of the incident broke, and wrote: “Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday.”
Chrissy faced major backlash after putting out the tweet, and while she initially insisted that she would not apologise, it looks as though the hate mail proved too much for her.
The star went on to retweet some of the terrifying tweets she has received from Internet trolls, with one user writing to her saying: “I hope someone murders someone [sic] you love, like your f***** husband”.
Shortly after, Chrissy announced that she would be leaving Twitter, writing: “I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to Instagram.”
Let’s hope this is the end of the cruel trolling.
