Mrs Potts is NOT looking forward to the Beauty and the Beast remake

If you haven’t already noticed, all of us SHEmazing HQ still like to embrace our inner child with all things Disney.

That’s why, when we heard the news of a Beauty and the Beast remake, we were beside ourselves with excitement.

One person however, who is not so excited is Angela Lansbury.

Yes, Mrs Potts herself was speaking to Entertainment Weekly this week when she revealed the idea of a remake didn’t fill her with joy.

“I was a bit taken aback, naturally. I thought, ‘Why? Why are we doing this over again?’ But I guess, I don’t know why they’re doing it. But they are, and it will be interesting to see what they do with it.”

OK, well, there’s a backhanded compliment if we ever heard one.

It got worse when the 91-year-old actress was asked how she felt about someone else taking on the role of Mrs Potts, which she originated in the 1991 film.

She responded: “Oh, absolutely. I can’t understand what they’re going to do with it that will be better than what we’re already done."

With Emma Thompson joining the already impressive cast as the new Mrs Potts, we're pretty confident the remake is going to be a huge hit – however, Angela is not convinced.

“I don’t blame them for doing it. But, I’m sorry, they’re not really on our territory.

"We did it as cartoon characters, and that is quite different from live actors.”
