Muckross Wild Irish Gin announces expansion of its availability nationwide

Muckross Wild Irish Gin, an independently owned Irish gin company based in Killarney, Co. Kerry, hit the shelves in 2021 and has only grown in popularity since. 

The brainchild of couple, Andrea Kissane and Martin Wray, has been in ideation since 2018 when the pair combined their skill sets and passion for quality spirits to create Muckross Wild Irish Gin, taking inspiration from the unique botanicals found in Killarney.

The luxury gin is distinctively flavoured with botanicals that can be found in Muckross National Park, a location close to Andrea’s heart as she has fond memories of exploring the area as a child with her parents.

A delicately balanced blend of botanicals is introduced during distillation, effortlessly bringing the flavours to life in the 40% proof liquor. 

Gin lovers will enjoy the well-rounded taste profile of Muckross Wild Irish Gin with notes of grapefruit and distinctive bitter orange adding a citrus back-note to the London Dry style spirit. 

Juniper, angelica, coriander, rosemary, blackthorn and heather make up the other botanicals that are included in the drink. The finishing flair includes the addition of rosehip and hawthorn. These specifically enhance the taste profile to create a uniquely elevated drinking experience.

Since launching the product online and through a number of select retailers, Muckross Irish Gin has generated a loyal customer base not only in Kerry but across Ireland.

Now, the brand plans for further growth in 2024, with additional stockists coming on stream this year, in both retail and hospitality. The gin is even the current house pour in 5-star establishments such as Muckross Hotel & Spa.

Muckross Wild Irish Bramble is the brand’s twist on the popular Bramble cocktail which was created in the 1980’s by European cocktail pioneer, Dick Bradsell. With a base of Muckross Wild Irish Gin, this classic cocktail is given a more robust taste profile when layered with fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup, and blackberry liqueur. Traditionally, the cocktail is served over crushed ice in an old-fashioned glass. The finishing touch; float the blackberry liqueur on top and garnish it with fresh blackberries or a lemon wheel.

Muckross Wild Irish Gin & Tonic is the brand’s take on one of the world’s most popular serves. While the classic G&T may seem deceptively simple, in order to make the most of the distinctive flavours in Muckross Wild Irish Gin, there is a secret to the serve. Upon pouring a measure of Muckross Wild Irish Gin over ice into a chilled glass, the subtle whispers of juniper berries, coriander seeds and citrus peel awaken the senses. Next, add crystal-clear tonic water, creating the marriage of gin and tonic. The final touch, a must-have garnish; a sprig of fresh rosemary and a zesty lime wheel, finishing off the flavours and look of the drink.

French ‘75, a luxurious combination of gin and champagne with Parisian origins. Start by adding Muckross Wild Irish Gin and freshly squeezed lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously to blend and chill the mixture. Strain into a chilled Champagne flute, then top it off with Champagne. The result is a tantalising blend of citrusy brightness and crisp effervescence. The French ’75 cocktail is garnished with a lemon twist or a sugared rim. This cocktail is perfect for toasting special occasions or sipping during a sophisticated soirée.
