‘No bounds’: Jim Carrey tries to ‘intimidate’ Cathriona’s family
Just days after the Cathríona White’s family announced that they had filed legal action against Jim Carrey, the Hollywood star has reportedly recruited the service of two private investigators in an effort to malign the White family reputation.
According to reports emerging across the pond, the Bruce Almighty star has responded to the two wrongful death lawsuits – one of which was filed by Cathriona’s estranged husband – by attempting to source information which may be damaging for the family of his late girlfriend.
It is understood Larry Broadhurst and Ed Guttierez approached friends of the Tipperary makeup artist in a quest to ‘dig up dirt’ on the family.
Concerned by the motive behind the intrusion, Cathriona’s friends reportedly alerted the White’s family’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, and informed him of developments.
Commenting on the situation, Mr Avenatti said: “Within the last 48 hours, two private investigators working for Carrey have been doing everything they can to come up with information for Carrey to use.”
Elaborating on the private investigators’ intentions, the attorney explained that the “questions [were] designed to get White’s friends to speak badly about the grieving family”
"How dare Carrey and his Hollywood lawyers try and malign the family and intimidate them,” he said.
“Sending private investigators out to dig up dirt on a grieving mother is disgusting. These people have no bounds,” he added.
Cathriona died in September 2015 after overdosing on prescription medication.
