Goodbye to disco pants! American Apparel is officially closing down
Ladies, if you were a fan of shiny disco pants and over-priced T-shirts, then your heart is about to shatter into a million pieces.
American Apparel is shutting down after being purchased at a bankruptcy auction by Canadian company Gildan Activewear.
So yes, American Apparel is actually no longer American… there are too many jokes to count, here.
Gildan Activewear wants to shut down American Apparel's 110 stores, as well as their factory in Los Angeles.
OH, the humanity.
The brand, which has become infamous for its outrageous advertisements, has been struggling for quite some time.
For the casual price of $88 million, Gildan has acquired American Apparel's intellectual property, manufacturing equipment and a lot more.
We cannot help but feel for the 3,500 people who are at risk of losing their jobs in the coming weeks, as a result of this sale.
Goodbye, American Apparel; we'll miss you!
