Pedestrians injured after van ploughs into crowds in Barcelona
According to emerging reports, dozens have been left injured after a vehicle ploughed into pedestrians on a street in Barcelona this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the public has been advised to avoid the area.
It is understood that train stations have been closed and service on the metro lines has been suspended in the wake of the incident.

Footage which has been uploaded to Twitter this afternoon shows the presence of police at the busy shopping area in the Spanish city.
Sky News reports that Catalan emergency services have confirmed the incident took place on Plaça Catalunya and say that 'a white van mounted the pavement and struck several people.'

There is no indication whether the incident this afternoon was terrorist-related or not.
It is understood that the driver fled on foot from the scene.
