In an official statement, Kensington Palace said: "Their Royal Highness The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child."
"The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news," the statement continued.
Offering an insight into Kate's curent condition, the Palace confirmed that the mother-of-two is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, and will be taking time out of official duties.
"As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children's Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace."
Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in April 2011 before welcoming Prince George in July 2013 and Princess Charlotte in May 2015.
