Sam Smith has announced more bad news about his health

Poor Sam Smith has been in a bad way for the past while, but it looks like he could finally be on the mend.

Even though he won't be able to speak for three weeks, he is getting an operation on his vocal cords and is hoping to be back to singing his heart out within eight weeks.

The star took to Instagram to share the news with his followers.

He captioned the photo below: "Bad news. I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous. But by doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it. I am so sorry to all. Dreading the next month thou, I can't speak for THREE WEEKS after the op. "

Sam recently told his fans that he hadn't been able to speak in three days because he suffered a haemorrhage on his vocal cords, causing him to cancel a number of shows in Australia. He then flew to the US to seek help.

The singer was "very upset" to have to cancel shows but hopefully he will be back to his old self soon.
