The father of an 18-year-old Co Monaghan woman has told an media outlet that his daughter doesn't remember anything from an incident which led to her hospitalisation last November.

Kym Owens was returning to her accommodation in Maynooth, Co Kildare when she sustained extensive head injuries at the entrance to the Moyglare Abbey estate on November 20.

Gardai initially believed the first year NUIM student had been the victim of a savage assault, but as the investigation progressed, reports circulated that Kym may have simply fallen or been struck by a vehicle.

As his daughter awaits further surgery following her medically induced coma, Ray Owens told The Herald that while she has been discharged from hospital, her memory of the incident is non-existant.

"She is not back at college yet but is up and about. She still doesn't remember anything of the incident," he explained.

"Kym is making a good recovery but is still facing more surgery," he added.

It is understood that the Gardai have interviewed more than 300 people since the incident in the university town five months ago, but no arrests have been made.
