So, GoT’s Margaery Tyrell is OBSESSED with this Irish county
This might not come as any surprise to the people of the Republic's Rebel County, but it sounds like they have one VERY big fan in the form of Natalie Dormer from none other than Game of Thrones.
It turns out the actress, who plays Margaery Tyrell in the smash-hit HBO show, has a bit of a grá for the People's Republic of Cork, and does her best to visit as often as she can.
Natalie, who says she first fell in love with the southern county when filming The Tudors with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, was discussing the show's sixth series when focus turned to her interest in Co. Cork.
While explaining that she doesn't get to visit our little green isle as much as she'd like, she does admit that she's already earmarked her favourite spots.
"I’ve been to Kinsale and to Baltimore as well and they were both absolutely beautiful," she gushed. "The scenery there, and the landscape, it’s my favourite thing about Ireland. Well, that and the food!"
And while the star, who got engaged to Irish director Anthony Byrne in 2011, is clearly head over heels about Ireland, that doesn't mean she hasn't faced her fair share of challenges when dating an Irish man.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the 34-year-old actress explained: "There were translation issues in the beginning of the relationship but we worked through them."
"We’re the personification of the Anglo-Irish Agreement. I now know all the Irish idioms. We had long debates about it not being a hot press but an airing cupboard," she added.
Hmmm, sounds like Anthony needs to work a bit harder on that one.
