Stars ‘fess up to their mams on Mother’s Day (SNL-style)

While we celebrated the wonder that is our lovely Irish mammies back in March, our pals across the pond are paying tribute to their mums this weekend and like any family celebration, it can be adorable and awkward in equal measure.

Kicking off celebratory events was the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon who hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and encouraged cast members to take a walk down memory lane with their beloved mothers.

From bedwetting to interesting uses for vibrating devices, the SNL team left no stone unturned when they thanked their mums for sticking by them through thick and thin, no matter how weird things got.

Inspired by the always hilarious SNL cast, we've decided to follow suit and apologise to our mothers for our equally misspent youth.

Mam, we're really really sorry for smashing that dinner plate because you wouldn't buy us pink velour tracksuit bottoms to go with our fake Ugg books and knock-off Jucy Couture handbag.
