In a case which caused wide-spread horror and disgust internationally, a man has now been jailed for 100 years for drowning his stepdaughter in a swimming pool.
Harrowing CCTV footage show the killer, identified in court documents only as Jose David N, repeatedly throwing the three-year-old girl – who could not swim – into a hotel swimming pool.
She can be seen struggling in the water, but her stepfather made no attempt to assist her.
The incident happened in the city of Morelia, in the south-western Mexican state of Michoacan, on August 12, 2015. At the time the child's mother was sleeping in a hotel room.
Jose David N had initially claimed the girl died in a tragic accident, but the CCTV footage proved damning.
Now, he has been jailed for 100 years with no possibility of parole.
