Ten of Angelina Jolie’s most inspiring quotes
Angelina Jolie hits a milestone today as the gorgeous Hollywood actress, director and producer turns 40.
It is reported that hubby Brad Pitt wants to spoil her rotten for the day as he and the brood plan some special events.
A source told British magazine Closer, that Brad "has planned a string of surprises for Ange's big birthday on the fourth of June, including a trip to a private island, which he's hired out just for them." The actor has reportedly even bought an antique emerald ring, which he's engraved with the date they first met.
Angelina has kept us consistently fascinated throughout her career, going from wild child and two-time divorcée to being one of Hollywood's biggest leading ladies, all the while staying focused on her six children, her marriage and her role as a UN goodwill ambassador.
All of this in mind, we think it's fair to say Angelina is our favourite Hollywood leading lady.
At first when it seemed she broke up what was the fairytale marriage of Brad and Jennifer Aniston, we were definitely all wearing the Team Aniston t-shirts. But Angelina has changed our minds and now we couldn't live without our fix of Brangelina on the red carpet.
In honour of her 40th birthday, we have taken a look at ten of her most notable quotes:
1. This brilliant one liner about her unorthodox childhood
"When other little girls wanted to be ballet dancers I kind of wanted to be a vampire."
2. Her frank honesty about her rebellious years
"I didn't die young. So I am very lucky. There are other artists and people that didn't survive certain things… people can imagine that I did the most dangerous, and I did the worst… for many reasons, I shouldn't be here."
3. On what she looks for in a partner
"I like someone who is a little crazy but coming from a good place. I think scars are sexy because it means you made a mistake that led to a mess."
4. Her view on how her life has changed for the better
"I’m still a bad girl. I still have that side of me…it’s just in its place now…it belongs to Brad. Or…our adventures."
5. On how she and Brad met
"Not a lot of people get to see a movie [Mr & Mrs Smith] where their parents fell in love. What’s going to be funny is when they think Mom and Dad are a little bit cool. Because right now, we’re not cool Mom and Dad."
6. Her beautiful tribute to Brad
"Sometimes I think my husband is so amazing that I don't know why he's with me. I don't know whether I'm good enough. But if I make him happy, then I'm everything I want to be."
7. On having so many kids
"The great thing about having a bunch of kids is they just remind you that you're the person who takes them to go poop! That's who you are!"
8. Her openness about why she is leaving the world of acting behind
"I became an actress because my mom wanted me to become an actress. It took me until my mid-30s to realize I actually didn't. I actually wanted to write and direct and be more involved in politics and humanitarian issues.
9. The reason she chooses to do so much humanitarian work
"I have so much in my life. I want to be of value to the world."
10. Her advice for other young women
"Make bold choices and make mistakes. It's all those things that add up to the person you become.
Happy Birthday Angelina!
