Love Island's Yewande Biala has opened up about what life is like when you're black and in the media.

The 23-year-old Irish scientist says being black means "you have to be 10 times better than everyone else", she told 1Xtra Talks.

Yewande was one of the 2019 cast originals, but left the show after Danny chose Arabella over her in a brutal dumping.

She says: "When I got into this I realised being black is hard, but being black and in the media is harder.

"You have to stand out and you have to do more and it can get quite frustrating," she adds.

"You feel like you're not doing enough, but just keep pushing to keep doing what you're doing and someone will see how amazing you are."

The reality star also claims that finding love in the villa was harder because of the colour of her skin.

Yewande's best friends were candidates Amber Gill, who is mixed race and Anna Vakili, who's Iranian, and she says "we all struggled".

"We didn't find anyone who liked us. It was always someone coming in and saying 'my type is blonde and petite'. We'd just look at each other and say 'they're obviously not here for us'."

Yewande also spoke about the pressure of social media outside of the villa, and how she copes with it.

She says "the majority of people were super supportive" in public platform comments, but that she did receive some hurtful direct messages.

"When I came back from Mallorca I got such a tan. I was so dark but I loved it.

"And people would come to me like, 'Oh you're too dark, like why are you so dark? Why are you so black, you're too skinny'. It was just stupid."

Yewande was also quizzed on her feelings about Danny Williams and Arabella Chi.

Model Arabella Chi is now dating Wes Nelson from the 2018 series, while Danny is dating Jourdan Riane after falling for her during the Casa Amor segment only days after Arabella was dumped.

The scientist says numerous articles appeared online about her which portrayed a tired stereotype used against black women following her dumping.

"I tried not to read any articles about myself because I didn't want to get upset. I think they were trying to label me as the angry black woman, which was kind of insane.

"Not once in the villa did I ever raise my voice or feel like I acted in that way, even considering the circumstances I was in."

The fifth series of Love Island may have ended, but life is only just beginning for the contestants on the outside.

The Islanders have returned to reality and are gathering that coin with sponsorships, TV shows and public appearances in clubs.

This years' group are charging quite the high amount to grace an event with their presence, and we're a bit shook.

According to The Sun, Curtis Pritchard and Tommy Fury . are the top earners, charging 10,000 pounds each to attend an event.

The publication contacted the agents of 2019's contestants to enquire about an appearance at a 21st birthday party, and boxer Tommy was able to charge a whopping £10k for a two-hour appearance.

The runner up of the show has people to see and things to do, and time is money after all. According to The Sun, professional dancer Curtis charges the same, but also requests a driver and a hotel.

Villa villain Michael Griffiths, who didn't even make the final, charges £2,500 per hour to show up.

Sherif Lanre, who was kicked out of the villa after a mere nine days, charges a shocking £5,000 for appearances.

Maybe because of the mystery surrounding him, but that seems like ridiculous money to us. Yewande Biala also charges £5,000, while winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea have yet to share an appearance fee.

The pair have the £50,000 cash prize, so they're not exactly begging for money. The cast need to make cash before their celebrity status shrinks, though.

The winner of Love Island 2018 has opened up about his split from Dani Dyer, blaming their break-up on the intensity of moving the relationship along too fast.

The reality star is currently searching for The One on Celebs Go Dating, and got candid about what went wrong with his previous girlfriend.

After admitting to dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson that he doesn't think he's ever been in love, he spoke about having a relationship that's totally in the spotlight.

"Dani is the one I was attracted to. We just sort of clicked, like, personality-wise. Then we just spent every day together for two months. That's intense," he said.

"This was like the ideal scenario," he added. "But when we lived together… I think if we had lived in Love Island forever we'd have been fine. But we didn't. We rushed it, we moved straight in together straight away."

Jack admitted that he did initially want to move in with Dani straight away, but said: "I wish we'd have waited. I let her rush it a little bit.

"We had a genuine connection in there, and I think anyone could see that. I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I wish her all the happiness in the world, I'm not a bitter person."

He made sure to mention that he's "100%" over Dani and is definitely ready to start dating again. "I want to find someone now," he said.

Dating experts set Jack up on a date with Chiara in last night's episode, but it got fairly awkward, to say the least. Jack interrupted Chiara constantly, asking her a barrage of questions.

There was a mix-up when he believed she wanted to leave with the waiter, and then actually tried to set her up with one of them. *Sigh*.

The date didn't end well, with Jack labelling it 'a disaster': "That's the most surreal date I've been on. That was really weird," he said.

"You know, that's the first dating disaster I've had – I'm going to call it a disaster. That's the first date I've been on that I've thought, 'f**k that'."

We've barely even had the chance to relax since Love Island ended, but now we're about to see the winner appear on another reality show in 2020.

Amber Gill has reportedly signed up for the next series of Dancing On Ice.

The 21-year-old Geordie won the ITV show with Limerick charmer Greg O'Shea, and has been one of the fan favourites since series five began.

Before the charming rugby player swept her off her feet, the beautician had her heart broken by Michael Griffiths after his head was turned during the Casa Amor segment.

Despite choosing Joanna Chimonides, he later came crawling back to Amber but she decided to couple up with Greg and later won the £50,000 prize.

Amber has already landed her next big TV gig by taking part in the ITV ice skating show, according to The Sun.

The show returns in January, and Amber will start rehearsing later this year. Some are predicting that her romance with Greg won't last long enough for him to be in the audience at the live shows.

Islander Anton Danyluk recently admitted that he thought Greg was "too nice" for Amber, and that they'd be the first couple to split up.

An ITV spokesperson told Mirror Online that it was "too early to confirm" any of the participants for the 2020 series of Dancing on Ice.

It's fair to say that Maura Higgins has completed the best 'hot girl summer' possibly since records began.

The Longford beauty stormed into the Love Island villa, ignored the haters, expressed her views and positive attitudes to sex and nabbed Curtis Pritchard without a single f*ck to give.

We have to applaud the woman, she truly is Maura D. Higgins: Queen of Ireland.

We spoke to the legend herself at the latest Bellamianta event, which showcased stunning tinted self tan mouse, skin perfecting illuminating bronzing powder and flawless filter body makeup. The reality star has been a brand ambassador with the beauty brand for a while now, and it's fitting that it's her first event since exiting the villa.

Speaking about life since leaving the show, Maura gushes about her professional dancing beau, saying that they've barely spent any time apart. The chaotic life of newfound fame must be difficult to navigate, but she's making time for Curtis;

“I’ve not really got time to process anything, it’s just been so overwhelming and it’s just been hectic since getting out. Curtis and I have only spent one night apart, we’ve been with each other non-stop”.

The 28-year-old has landed a slot on This Morning, with her own segment involving Maura as an agony aunt. The Thursday show went down a storm, with UK viewers adoring her no nonsense approach to dating.

The star was asked about Curtis' recent interview where his bisexuality was mentioned for the first time;

“You can’t believe everything you read in the papers. I don’t read the papers, he doesn’t read the papers. We’re not going to start reading the papers now just because we’re in them. People’s opinions do not matter to us. We’re very very happy.”

Despite the fact that Maura has been with a woman, she denied claims of her own bisexuality;

“I wouldn’t, I’m 100% into guys. It was a drunken, crazy night. A bit of fun. It was a work friend.”

The grid girl's start in the Love Island villa wasn't easy, with Tommy eventually choosing Molly Mae Hague over Maura. The aftercare programme this year has escalated massively, and Maura said she was warned about the press;

"They told me at the beginning that there was a bit of hate for the way I went about things with Tommy. I don’t care what people think of me, I think everyone knows that by now. I wasn’t expecting the response I got.

“I’m so opinionated and I did expect to come out to a lot of hate. That’s the truth. I didn’t expect to last in there as long as I did. I thought I’d be out in the first three days. To get to the final, I just couldn’t believe it. And then coming out, the support has been amazing. I mean…Amy Schumer! I almost fell off my chair, that’s the truth. I still can’t believe it”.

Higgins was praised for her open and positive views on female sexuality in particular, and has become so infamous for her "fanny flutters" that even US comedian Amy Schumer professed her love. The incident with Tom Walker was what brought the entire UK's attention onto Maura, after she slammed his less than chivalrous behaviour. With the line; "Let's see if she's all mouth or not", Tom brought Storm Maura into the weather forecast and we LIVED for it.

“Just because a woman talks about sex, doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. I was never going to go into the hideaway and sleep with Tom. Making that horrible comment and assumption was out of order.”

She described her filter-free life growing up in Longford, where she could freely talk about sex with her family;

“I can talk to my mother about anything. I mean anything. I’d never be ashamed to talk about sex. When I’m talking about sex in the villa, I was so surprised with how people’s reactions were. They were so shocked, but it’s a natural thing. We all have sex. I had sex in my own house with the parents there. The way I was  brought up was that you could talk about anything. I didn’t have to filter anything growing up, with my family. It’s normal to me”.

She had some strong words to say about former Islander Belle Hassan describing Maura as 'demanding' for always 'needing a cigarette'. The Longford native said Belle was "talking sh*t," and we had to laugh.

When asked if there is any truth to the make-up artist's comments, Maura said: "Absolutely not.

"They would of never ever, ever heard me looking for cigarettes. So what you do, if you want to go for a smoke, you stand at the front door, and when the gallery see you on the camera, they speak through and say 'off you go', so it's not like you're in the villa with everyone else going 'I want a cigarette!' You don't say that. You just go to the front door where nobody is, so they never would of seen me. That's absolute rubbish."

She also denied any claims of witnessing Anton and Molly-Mae's lack of communication in the villa.

The Scottish gym owner said himself and the influencer were never mates and didn't speak in the villa, and even unfollowed her on Instagram.

Maura says that everyone spoke in the villa, so we're calling his bullsh*t;

“I’m unsure, because he said that they didn’t speak in the villa. I never noticed it, everyone spoke in the villa. Him unfriending her, I don’t know what’s going on. I never saw any issue.”

Finally, we had to ask her about which Islander she'd unfollow, if she could; "Jordan. Absolutely Jordan" she said, without hesitation.

Scottish gym owner Anton Danyluk has hinted that Love Island winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea won't last on the outside, because the Irish charmer is "too nice for her".

The 24-year-old was over the moon to see Amber win the show with Greg, who was only in the villa for 12 days before he walked away with his half of the £50,000 cash prize.

Speaking to Heat magazine, Anton hinted Greg could almost be too good to be true;

"He's a genuinely nice guy and Amber's been through everything in there and I'm so happy for her to finally find someone who is perfect for her."

He added; "But I think he might be too nice for her, that's the problem."

Amber had a tumultuous time in the villa after Michael Griffiths dumped her for Joanna Chimonides after Casa Amor, speaking badly of her behind her back.

Luckily, Greg arrived just before the end of the series and swept Amber off her feet with his charm. Anton commented: "It's so refreshing that it's went on a different journey".

He added; "Usually it's couples that couple up at the start they go right through to the end loved up.

"Whereas Amber's gone on this mad journey she's been through her ups and her downs and then Greg's come in at the end – lovely guy – and I'm really happy for them."

The Scotsman couldn't help but laugh about how the rugby player won £25,000 after only two weeks in the villa; "Greg honestly what a guy. He completed Love Island didn't he?"

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, who were runners up on the hit ITV show, are going strong and remain the only official boyfriend/girlfriend couple.

How could anyone break up with Greg?! Or Amber?! We're praying to the Goddess of Love Aphrodite that they work out.

Newly crowned Greg O'Shea, AKA the King of Limerick, is BACK with a huge bang at Shannon airport this morning.

Amber Gill won't be getting her paws back on her fellow winner Greg for a while, judging by all those photos and autographs he has to get through.

The Love Island winner has returned to the Emerald Isle after winning the reality show with Newcastle beauty Amber, despite only knowing her for 12 days. The Irish charm always comes out on top…

Since leaving the villa, the rugby player has spent time in Geordie-land with his new lady, meeting all of her friends and family, but the time has come for him to see his boys once more.

Shannon airport pulled out all the stops for his return, setting up a decorated part of the airport in his honour filled with confetti and balloons. His fans must be in the millions at this stage.

You can hear the screams from miles away, as hundreds of people waited in anticipation to see their king land on Irish soil.

He's 100 percent our type on paper, that's for sure, and Ireland really does give the best welcomes. Time will tell whether he'll stay in Ireland or move over to the UK to be with Amber.

So far, he's talked about investing his half of the prize money, as well as getting facial surgery for a broken nose and fractured skull. He also wants to sit his solicitor exams, because he's perfect.

He walked into that villa, treated Amber like the queen she is and walked away with 25,000 pounds to show for it. See what happens when you're not a gaslighting villain like Michael?

Well, karma's a b*tch and it seems she's following around Michael Griffiths for the foreseeable future.

The firefighter turned reality star tried to play it cool after his car got clamped in Manchester yesterday, but he couldn't help smirking as he walked away from his white Mercedes.

The flashy car was spotted with a yellow clamp on its front left wheel and a pricey fine on the windscreen, totally immobilised. We promise we're not laughing.

Cars are normally clamped for illegal parking, or if they're untaxed and on a public road. The Love Island star will have to pay a steep fine to get his motor back, or will have the car towed.

Michael did his best to walk away nonchalantly from the scene, but didn't succeed. The 27-year-old was caught in a whirlwind love triangle on the show, with Amber Gill and Joanna Chimonides.

Amber went on to win the show with Irish charmer Greg O'Shea, after Michael tried and failed to win her back. What a moment that was for the chaldish man.

Joanna was dumped from the Island, branding Michael a "snake" after he wouldn't leave the villa with her. She's denying that they're romantically involved, despite being photographed kissing.

The world and it's mother are in LOVE with the ITV reality show winners Greg O'Shea and Amber Gill, yet the producers of Love Island aren't convinced that they'll last as a couple.

In previous years, ITV have rushed to make spin-off shows about the pairings and finalists, with popularity sky high, but this year things appear to be different.

According to The Sun, the producers are holding back as they fear the Islanders will split before the show is aired.

The insider added; “Jack and Dani’s series was a perfect example last year, with everyone saying their relationship was fake.

“This year bosses want to take the heat off the contestants’ relationships, especially as it’s been such a choppy year for couples making a go of it. Instead they are focusing on winter Love Island and want to nail the casting for that series."

They continued; “Of course, they’re keeping a close eye on their couples to spot any potential for spin-off shows, but at the moment it’s certainly not looking likely.”

Most couples barely even make it to three months, and Greg and Amber have been predicted to last just 69 days by data analysts Watches2You.

The Love Island reunion is airing on Sunday, which has followed the finalists this week as they settle back into their normal lives once more, but one contestant won't be present.

We're gaggin' to see Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins's trip to Ireland, specifically Longford, which should be painfully awkward.

Mrs Higgins took more of a shine to Ovie Soko than Curtis, so that should be entertaining to see.

Greg O'Shea is also with Amber Gill in her hometown of Newcastle, which should be interesting. The adorable pair won the show, exceeding expectations, and split the prize money between them.

Sunday will bring all of the islanders back together again, despite some contestants being on the show for a couple of days (Callum McLeod- we mean yourself).

Remember Sherif Lanre? He's been banned from taking part, even though he was one of the original islanders. Lanre was removed from the villa after just nine days for breaking the rules.

The rule turned out to be accidentally kicking Molly-Mae in the groin and making a weird joke about it ('cunt punt'), and NOT masturbating in the hot tub like everyone said.

Considering every single Love Island couple from season four broke up within six months, we don't have high for series five's lovers. Not even Greg and Amber (hello, Limerick to Newcastle?).

New data has now revealed that the couples will break up after only 69 days, and our jaws ain't hitting no floors. The show really doesn't produce romance, just pure lust and instant fame.

Watches2U have analysed the length of time that the couples usually stay together within one year of leaving the villa, and the Islanders are set to pie each other off by October 6, 2019.

The data analysed how many of the top three couples were still an item after their series ended, and just three of the 12 couples were staying strong 365 days after the series they starred in finished.

Cara and Nathan broke up 273 days after the show finished, but got back together a year later. It's clearly not an easy feat to make it as a couple 'on the outside', as the study proves.

With each series that goes on, surviving outside of the villa appears to be causing more problems- most likely because of the ITV reality show's massive growth in popularity.

Series two couples were going strong for an average of 334 days, and one relationship even ended with marriage (Olivia and Alex) and a baby for one lucky pair of Islanders (Cara and Nathan).

Season four pairs were loyal for just 159 days on average, barely making it to Christmas.

The pilot season was considered an anomaly, as only two romantic couples placed in the top three and lasted only three months. It's no formula for catching a long-term boo, that's for sure.

Instagram/@loveisland

The team predicts that the top three season five couples will last a total of 69 days on average, which is pretty measly.

There was a huge amount of tactical recoupling this year, and more than the villa's fair share of fuckboi snakes (Danny, Michael, Jordan- looking at you).

The lack of strong couples and exclusivity are the reason for such a small prediction, but we're praying that #Gramber survive longer than that.

Image: Watches2U

Watches2U created a graph to depict how long the final three couples lasted within the first year of leaving the villa.

From this, the percentage decrease in relationship length between each series from two to four was investigated, calculating an average percentage decrease of 24.065 percent.

This means that the data predicts series five's couples lasting 19 percent out of 365 days- just 69 days in total. Sob. Come on Greg and Amber, prove them wrong.
