Watching beauty videos on YouTube is one of our favourite pastimes, but occasionally we can get a tad bored with the content.

Luckily, with all the lazing about that the festive season allows us,m we stumbled upon one YouTube beauty guru with an epic twist.

Introducing Sailor J, the parody beauty account that mixes sensational makeup looks with social issue discussion. We subscribed in three seconds flat.

A post shared by SailorJ (@xx_jjsmith_xx) on

Sailor uses her tutorials to help unfortunate singletons catch a man, using the bamboozlement and witchcraft that is makeup.

'I bought this brush from a woman at the mall,' she declares in GETTING A MAN 101, one of her popular videos.

'She had a wedding ring on, so clearly she knows what she's doing.'

Sailor also takes the absolute p*** out of the consistent insistence of males that makeup is 'false advertising.'

'A man is going to find me and think – 'Wow, a woman born with gold eyelids.'

Her most viewed video Contouring 101, has over 1.2 million views thanks to it's time on the trending page, and for good reason.

'If men find out we can rearrange the bones of our face, we're finished. We might as well pack our bags and go to the nunnery,' she proclaims, in full Sailor J persona.

'If the men find out we can shape shift, they're going to tell the church.'

A post shared by SailorJ (@xx_jjsmith_xx) on

'Beautiful women don't have foreheads,' she says sarcastically.

'If you have too big of a brain, it means you have ugly things like opinions and thoughts of your own.'

We'll leave you to watch it for yourself:

There's nothing more annoying than spending your precious time and money on your nails, for them to be destroyed just days later.

That's why we are SO excited to share a nail secret that we've just been informed of.

The nail industry has just been revolutionised by a simple technique, so you can say goodbye to chipped nails.

A post shared by CND (@cndworld) on

Shellac Luxe and the incredible people at CND have let me in on a new technique they have developed called the Wiggle.

The Wiggle gets those nails looking sharp and keeps them on point for two weeks.

It is a new way to paint nails and caps the nail properly to avoid chipping and breaks.

Samantha Sweet of Sweet Squared spoke to SHEmazing about how the Wiggle was conceived with Shellac Luxe, which removes in just sixty seconds.

"Team CND obviously do a lot of training on application…rather than paint a nail traditionally from the cuticle up, they do this wiggle technique, where they are almost going backward on the tip of the nail first, it’s almost like you’re sealing the edge," she explained.

"The brush in this product is so awesome, that when you actually apply this wiggle technique, it just does this beautiful sweep, then they apply [the polish] normally."

After speaking to the nail goddess that is Marian Newman, she told me all about the way the Wiggle is changing the industry as we know it.

Marian has worked in every aspect of the nail industry, which includes over 50 British Vogue covers to her name and years of working on fashion shows for London and Paris Fashion Weeks – so she knows a thing or two about nails.

"I think the Wiggle technique is amazing," she said.

A post shared by Marian Newman (@mariannewman) on

"With any nail coating, you do have to cap the free edge because the layers end there, so that is where they get the most damage, that's where water can seep and make the layers blow apart, so you do have to cap the free edge," she said.

"And a lot of people cap the free edge but they get polish underneath and if you get any underneath, traditional or gel polish you end up picking it out and then you have broken the seal.

"Everyone knows this is such a fine product [Shellac Luxe] – when I say fine, I mean sophisticated, it’s superior.

Marian went on to explain that with the Wiggle technique and using Luxe, you cap the tip of the nail without getting anything underneath, so you don't break the seal.

A post shared by CND (@cndworld) on

Marian also added that it's crucial for nail techs to get the wiggle technique down properly, so you get the best results.

"[Shellac Luxe] is thin and you don’t get the bulbous piece at the end, it's just an easy way for every nail professional to remember, what to do and get the best possible results because this is very technique sensitive.

"If you don’t put it on right, then you’re not going to get the best out of it."

A post shared by CND (@cndworld) on

Our hands are in front of our face all day long.

Making the effort is worth it, as staring at beautiful nails all day makes us happy.

When asked why they want other nail technicians to lose bad habits, and to adopt the wiggle and Shellac Luxe; The answer was simple – "the integrity of a natural nail."

A post shared by CND (@cndworld) on

"We are in the beauty industry, we are not here to trash natural nails. The integrity of a natural nail should be the first priority of a nail technician, keeping those nails beautiful," explained Samantha.

"Now with traditional Shellac and Luxe, you don’t need to use an abrasive or a file on the natural nail, so already you haven't done anything to the nail to thin it or anything like that."

"If nail techs stop doing those type of things, and then you've got a product that comes off so easily, so the nail underneath shouldn't be harmed in any way, then you've got a better experience for the customers."

"Clients should not be going to a salon to get their nails trashed, and yet there are so many people that still do that."

A post shared by John C. Nguyen (@jcnguyen88) on

Shellac Luxe knows how to treat your nails properly and removes in sixty seconds, leaving behind a clean, healthy nail.

The range has expanded by 15 brand new shades, with Satin Slippers being our ultimate fav.

However, if you're feeling peachy and summery, Charm is your way to go.

If you're walking on the darker, moodier side of life, Dark Cherry (it's a rouge-noire) will be one to get your hands on!

Skin break outs happen to the best of us..even the perma-glowy Millie Mackintosh.

Thank f*ck for that, we here you say.

The 28-year-old former Made In Chelsea star took to Instagram stories share her acne woes with her 1.3 million followers.

Luckily for Mills, she could pop to get some light therapy done when she started to suffer with her complexion.

Spell it out

A post shared by Millie Mackintosh (@milliemackintosh) on

She explained in her post that her skin ''has been breaking out since my wedding…not sure if it's the heat or what, off to get some light therapy @drfrancesprennajones will let you know how I get on!"

Later that evening, Millie posted again about her skin troubles, saying how it made her feel ''rubbish.''

Her solution to it all?

Lash on a pair of oversized sunnies. Yep, it works for pretty much everything tbh.

So what is this light therapy that she was getting and can we afford it if we don't live in Chelsea?

Well, the treatment involves using controlled artificial ultraviolet light to help reduce symptoms and slows the progress of common skin conditions.

Shockingly, getting the treatment done with a dermatologist is super pricey.

So for those of us who aren't socialites, there are brands like Neutrogena who do a Light Therapy Mask, and it does pretty much the same job.

Things aren't all bad for Millie however, as she is recently back from her sun-drenched honeymoon in Crete following her wedding to Hugo Taylor on June 22nd.

She shared the whole holiday with us, posting envy-inducing snaps of blue skies, sandy beaches and gorgeous bohemian outfits. We're so not jel at all.

Here's hoping that her acne troubles are behind her as she starts married life – we think she still looks gorgeous anyway.

Kylie Jenner is known for many things.

Her lip gloss range, her reality TV show, the fact that she's part of one of the most famous showbiz families on the planet…oh and her now-iconic full pout.

While she initially denied having anything done to her lips, she admitted all in 2017 on her show Life of Kylie

She told Complex magazine at the time that, ''it has been an insecurity of mine all my life. I felt like no one wanted to kiss me.”

Explaining why she had originally lied about the cosmetic work, she explained that she had panicked.

''What are all those moms going to think about me? These kids, my fans, they’re going to think I’m crazy. I didn't’ want to be a bad influence. I didn't’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself.''

However, it seems that she has had a change of heart.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the 20-year-old revealed that her relationship with fillers was so done.

She posted an image of herself with what looks like her old lips.

Her 110 million followers were quick to notice, with some commenting, ''even more beautiful now you’ve took them out. Natural is beautiful'' and ''so totally beautiful …The natural look is so good.''

A post shared by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

In the past, she admitted that she might have gotten carried away with the injections.

“When you first get them done, you’re like, ‘Oh, it could be a little bit bigger on that side.’ I’d go back and be like, ‘They went down’ and think they could be bigger. But I went too far.”

While people were purely speculating about the Insta snaps at first, Kylie then confirmed her different look by saying, ''I got rid of all my filler'' followed by worried emojis.

Kyle recently spoke about how her baby Stormi had not inherited her lips, but has big beautiful eyes.

She told friend Jordyn Woods during a YouTube Q&A that, ''she has the biggest eyes ever. The one thing I was insecure about, she has. She has the most perfect lips in the whole entire world. She ain't get those from me. Thank her dad for those.''

We’ve been wearing twice as much deodorant since this heatwave made an appearance. We love the soaring temperatures, but they have also left us melting from the moment we wake up until the early hours of the morning.

Being stuck on a packed Luas when it's 25 degrees outside isn’t a pleasant experience, especially when someone’s sweaty armpit is mere centimetres away from your face.

Gross encounters like this inspire us to be extra hygienic during the summer months.

Once we hop out of the shower in the morning we spritz ourselves with a florally scented deodorant.

However, experts have found that we have been applying deodorant the wrong way all this time.

Doctor Dawn Harper told The Sun that you should apply deodorant at night instead of in the morning. She explained that applying deodorant at night will give it time to dry on your armpits.

“Apply at night before going to bed to allow to dry fully. Leave on overnight and wash off any residue in the morning with soap and water.”

She added: "To get the best results you apply deodorant to completely dry skin."

The best piece of advice she could offer was to be diligent when purchasing deodorant. She said many people fail to buy antiperspirant deodorant and opt for fancy designs and flowery scents instead.

Antiperspirant deodorants stop you from sweating, whereas other sprays just mask the smell of sweat temporarily.

Applying your deodorant at night may be the right way, but we'll be applying deodorant on the hour every hour during this heatwave.

When you're applying your face in the morning, whether you're a BB-cream-and-go kind of girl or you're more into a full contour and highlight, do you ever stop to wonder why you're applying makeup?

Is it because you want to look professional at work, feel confident in yourself or highlight your best features?

Or is it to 'trick' men into thinking you are attractive? Because that's what 63 per cent of men seem to think.

A post shared by Gem's Blog (@abargainbygem) on

A new study by YouGov found that 63 per cent of men think that 'women mainly wear makeup in order to trick people into thinking they’re more attractive.'

As suggested by the survey service, a percentage of men think that women are 'just thirsty for the male gaze,' which is why we apply eyelash extensions, lip liner and contouring kits.

C'mon lads, we did not just spend an hour and a half getting tiny pieces of mink stuck to our eyelids with industrial strength glue just we we can bat them in the direction of a man.

And even if a woman decided to add a bit of extra effort to her makeup look to impress someone special, we highly doubt it's an attempt at trickery.

Despite the fact that men think women are hiding something with makeup, the same cannot be said of the perception of men with beards.

Only 36 per cent of individuals think that a man with a beard is using the fuzzy face fluff to hid facial imperfections.

A post shared by Makeup Affair KL (@makeupaffair.kl) on

Overall, 43 per cent of people feel that women wear 'too much makeup,' which is reflected in the experiences of women who feel that have been 'makeup shamed' for their full faces.

Famous YouTube makeup artists Nikki Tutorials has actually started a campaign to end makeup shaming among women.

Makeup can give people a confidence boost, which is nothing to be ashamed of, and it definitely doesn't mean women are trying to 'trick' people with their powders and lipliners.

We mean, if a guy really thought we had naturally shimmery eyelids and matte plum lips, then more fool him.

You don't have to be vegan to buy or support cruelty-free cosmetics.

Every euro you spend sends a powerful message.

That's why supporting brands that don't test on animals like bunnies and puppies is clearly the way to go!

We have 11 products you can buy guilt-free, and that won't compromise you looking fabulous. (You can thank us later).

1. The Prince of Darkness – Lush

Kicking off the list, we are going to the dark side.

Lush has created an activated charcoal face mask called the Prince of Darkness.

The product often sells out and it's easy to understand why. It's infused with lavender oil and fine sea salt to clean the depths of your skin (and possibly your soul). It will have your face feeling soft and refreshed after it works its magic.

They will have to pry it out of my lifeless hand before I stop using it.

2. 'Tattoo Liner' – Kat Von D

This eyeliner is one that just doesn't budge.

Crying your eyes out after being dumped? Don't worry because your eyeliner will still look unreal.

Being attacked by hayfever season? This eyeliner has you covered as your eyes and nose may run, but this ain't going anywhere.

End up in a CAR accident? Once again, the liner comes through to have those cat eyes looking sharp.

The queen of tattooing had us covered when she was designing the product.

3. Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette – ColourPop

Yes, Please! – Just take our money. This eyeshadow palette is stunning, practical and pigmented.

Hitting their best selling list, the shades give you a subtle pop of colour.

Perfect for a night out in town or a dinner date catch up, this cruelty-free palette is an absolute steal.

4.  Soft Neutral Wine Matte Lipstick – Charlotte Tilbury

The matte revolution is a limited edition, so you better act fast if you want to paint the town red with this lippy.

Inspired by our favourite Friday night hobby (WINE), this lipstick is a luscious red that will make your lips stand out from the crowd.

On the slightly dear side of life, the dazzling colour and smooth application makes it worth every penny.

5.  Brazilian Cupacu Scrub-In-Oil – The Body Shop

The secret to why this body scrub is unbelievable is nut oil. When they made oils, they didn't make them equal.

This scrub contains the cupuaçu nut which is responsible for Amazonian's enviously beautiful skin.

It's a tag team as the magical oil is mixed with fine salt crystals.

The combo means the scrub is much more effective at penetrating and exfoliating the skin.

The Body Shop is also massively against animal testing and you will currently receive a fiver off your purchase if you sign their petition in store. It's really a no-brainer.

6. Nail Polish – Catrice

You don't have to lose your sparkle when shopping cruelty-free.

This stunning nail polish is a combination of Shake & Seal Top Coat ‘01 Ocean Drive’ over ICONails Gel Lacquer ‘55 All Roads Lead To The Ocean’.

For those eagle-eyed beauty lovers, you might have already guessed that the range is available in Pennys.

It's the shop that just keeps on giving!

7.  Superdrug Extracts Shampoo & Conditioner – Superdrug

Don't compromise your haircare, these shampoos and conditioners from the Superdrug range will have you in hair heaven.

They're also PERFECT for a student budget.

The creamy conditioner coats your locks to leave them strong and healthy. An added bonus is both the shampoo and conditioner smell incredibly fruity.

You get a lot for your buck here as their haircare line is extensive and affordable.

8. Purifying Body Ritual Travel Set – Urban Veda

Our jobs and plans to travel the world means that we have to make selective choices about the cosmetics we pop into our suitcase.

Whether you're taking a car, plane or train, this travel set will be one you shouldn't leave the house without.

Parabens are banished from this range, so they respect and work gently incoordination with your skin.

If that wasn't enough, it does a solid for the environment by being 100% recyclable!

It's a win-win.

9. Stay Matte & Beautiful Brush Collection, 5 Piece Set – Eco-tools

A sister duo founded Eco-tools with the mission to make us feel beautiful inside and out.

A staple in my makeup bag, this is a brand to get behind.

They're environmentally friendly, high-quality, and affordable too.

The range uses only recycled materials, renewable bamboo and a high standard of manufacturing processes.

Their care and attention are very much reflected in their products.

The brushes are soft, long-lasting with such a smooth application you'll be feeling like a MUA.

10. Instant Lift Brow Pencil – E.L.F

It's hard to imagine the time when big brows weren't in.

We only have our cringe-worthy photos as evidence of the crimes committed against our eyebrows.

This instant lift brow pencil comes in three shades and it's a hot favourite amongst E.L.F lovers.

E.L.F has listened to our cries for good quality makeup at affordable prices.

They're so good that it's almost hard not to get carried away with buying EVERYTHING.

11. Huangjisoo Pure Foaming Cleanser Deep Cleansing (Peppermint) –  The Konjac Sponge Co

To complete our listicle is the Konjac Sponge company.

They know how to look after your skin by taking Korean beauty secrets and applying them to their skincare line.

The deep cleanser combines peppermint, cucumber and chrysanthemum extracts which calms, expels dirt and refines the skin.

You'll be given a healthy gorgeous glow every time you go to take off your makeup, thanks to this incredible product.

It's hypoallergenic and made with 98 percent of natural ingredients, so even those with the most complex and sensitive skin can enjoy this cleanser.

We are LOVING the scorcher that is heading our way this week.

As temperatures are set to rise, we are starting to contemplate how to get our pale skin to go brown, rather than red.

However, there is another hazard that the unfamiliar summer heat is bringing and you probably have it in your room.

The Dublin Fire Brigade took to Twitter to highlight the danger of mirrors, crystals and glasses kept beside windows.

Time to move the aerosols away as they can explode if exposed to the heat.

The video shows the damage caused as a result of a vanity mirror left in a window.

They issued a reminder to move everything into the shade and to keep in mind that the sun moves around as the day draws on.

The firefighters highlighted the need to stay well hydrated during the heatwave.

We should be gulping down at least 2.5 litres a day!

Excuse us while we run home, grab a bottle of water and make sure everything is in the shade!

Since it's launch in September 2017, Fenty Beauty products have been at the top of every makeup lovers wish-list.

From iridescent lipsticks to long-wear foundations, Rihanna created the brand with the promise of inclusion women of all skin tones – so it's no wonder the collection has reached cult status in its first year in the market.

With a stellar collection of products, Fenty Beauty makes the perfect gift for every occasion, which is why a woman named Charlema Webb asked her husband, Vincent, to get he a highlighter and brush for their one month wedding anniversary.

However, us beauty nerds often forget that not everyone knows their baking powders of from their BB creams, and it seems Charlema didn't explain exactly what she meant by 'highlighter'.

After visiting numerous drug stores, Vincent was unable to locate the all-important Fenty product, and decided to settled on another brand instead.

Returning home after his haul, Vincent proudly presented his new wife with a four-pack of Sharpie highlighters and a Goody hair brush.

Able to see the funny side, Charlema shared the hilarious story on Facebook, before the post was shared by the official Fenty Beauty Instagram account.

"Waiiittt… he tried it though . A+ for effort!! @cwebb0414 we got the real thang coming to you soon!," the post read.

Natalie Mackey is the brains (and beauty) behind ground breaking brand Winky Lux.

With her Instagram-friendly packaging, clean formulas and affordable prices, the American entrepreneur has found the winning way to make her brand relevant and so covetable for the young, modern customer.

We sat down with the New Yorker to ask her about her beauty tips, some career advice and her proudest achievements as a successful girlboss.

Have you always been a beauty addict?

YES! I've always thought it was the most fun thing to shop for.

What made you want to launch a beauty brand?

I knew there was a market for whimsical luxury at a price that made sense.

What is your skincare routine?

I use DHC Cleansing Oil, followed by Pixie Glow Tonic then Strivectin Oleic Rapid Recovery serum. Lastly I put on the Winky Lux Dream Gelee.

What is your go-to make-up look?

I normally do a natural look that consists of White Tea Tinted Veil in Light, Peeper Perfect concealer in Light, Winky Unibrow Pencil, mascara (a new one launching in August!) and Winky Strobing Balm in Radiant Pink.

In the summer I typically dust Tarte loose finishing powder over it to last all day.

What about when you go out?

At night I will add MAC precision black eyeliner and Winky Lip Velour.

I love a bold red lip. I use the colour “Heart” in the winter and “Dirty Love” (which has more orange) in the spring and summer.

What products do you swear by?

The Winky Lux Peeper Perfect concealer is my desert island product. I never leave home without it.

I also love Commodity’s new fragrance “Whiskey” and Frank Body Coffee body scrub

Among all the amazing Winky Lux products, which one are you the proudest of?

The White Tea Tinted Veil is an amazingly light moisturiser that smells like a spa and has physical SPF 30. One of our customers wrote to us saying she never wore sunscreen until she bought the tinted veil because it's normally so sticky.

Considering that skin cancer is so dangerous I was proud that we made a product that made it fun for people to protect their skin.

All your products are cruelty-free and non-toxic. Is it because you are particularly concerned by environment issues or the health of your clients?

Yes to both! I am the ultimate test subject because I have highly sensitive skin and I use every product we’ve ever made. I don’t want harsh chemicals on my face so I wouldn't expect our customers to either.

As far as animal testing is concerned, it should probably be abandoned in the industry as a whole. It’s horrible and unnecessary and can, for the most part, be easily replaced with more sophisticated alternative testing.

How do you decide to create a product?

We get our best inspiration from our customers. We ask them for ideas all the time.

Once we have an idea we make sure that we can devise a package that’s as pretty as the product and then it’s off to the lab!

How has Instagram been in the heart of the development of your business?

It has been so important. It serves as a real time focus group where we can get instant feedback from the customer.

Do you think all brands should be on Instagram in this day and age?

Of course. It's where consumers are going to discover new things. It’s as important as your website.

Any Insta recommendations for your readers?

Oh yes! @sarahmcgonagall is an influencer in our neighbourhood who is always amazing with her high tech artistry! @virna_gambini has the prettiest flat lays I have ever seen. For fashion that is affordable/adorable @jennajordan works at Winky Lux and is the resident cute-outfit guru. Finally, the @betches cracks me up every day.

Why do you think Winky Lux got so much success so quickly?

I think women want something fun that celebrates them at a price that’s nice. Our products are luxury quality and have packaging that hopefully makes you smile.

Also so many of our products were inspired by ideas from our customers. I think they feel vested in the success of the products they helped create.

What WL product has been the most successful so far?

The Flower Balm and the Peeper Perfect Under Eye Concealer

What is your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur in your everyday life?

Getting enough sleep and eating healthy foods. It’s tough when you're on the road so much.

As a real girlboss, what advice would you give to young women wanting to become entrepreneur?

Don’t be afraid to start and don’t be afraid to fail. You will learn more from the failures than the wins (I have).

Success seems to be more about "time in" than timing. Ask for help,

What advice would you give to a young woman looking for a job? What are the mistakes young women tend to make on their resume or during interviews?

I think there is a recent trend of being afraid to say you don’t know something. I get more excited about a candidate that says “I don’t know everything about this but I’m curious and I’m prepared to dive in, work hard and learn it” than someone who sort of fakes their knowledge.

Recently I've also seen people come in with salary asks that are far above the salaries listed on the job description. I’m glad that women are starting to ask for more but that's not the way to do it. It makes the candidate seem as if they didn’t pay attention or even read the description. Also, always be on time for an interview.

What other brands inspire you?

Jonathan Adler (for their dedication to whimsy), Nike (for their ability to influence culture), Skinny Dip (for their hilarious kitchy voice), Ladurée (for their ability to create magical spaces)

What is the next step for Winky Lux?

We are opening 5 experience stores in the US then hopefully Europe next year!

Oh Friday , I love you so Matcha ! #TGIF #winkylux #matcha
