Being one of the most recognisable brands in the cosmetics world, it’s no surprise that M.A.C. employs some of the industry’s most talented makeup artists.

But while M.A.C. counters are pretty much everyone’s go-to for a solid smoky eye and a decent spot of contour, behind the scenes its MUAs are working on some incredibly creative projects.

With Halloween just around the corner, the “MacSeniorArtist” hashtag is throwing up some pretty impressive costume ideas on Instagram.

From creepy clowns and withered hags to bejewelled sea creatures and movie-worthy aliens, check out some of our favourite M.A.C. looks below.

• HALLOWEEN IS COMING • repost from @stephanie_montes Yesterday I did this makeup on the lovely Stephanie for the @thezoereport Facebook Live page. We had loads of fun and talked to people live whilst doing it! • HALLOWEEN • last one of these! Close up of mine. I'd love to see this on a dark skin, change it all to real skin tone as a base, but have all the details bronze, chocolate, gold, copper instead of Pearl and white. Rich dark chocolate brown lipstick on the lips, with #ReflectsBronze pressed on top. The last touch – have a friend blow #reflectsgold over the entire face! Someone do it and tag me!! Mentioning the ‘C’ word this side of Halloween may be taboo, but we swear we’ve got a very good excuse.

As the shops quickly fill with dazzling sequins, velvety reds and luxurious golds, we’ve found the perfect lipstick line to compliment your party season style.

After a year filled with Kylie Jenner inspired metallic lips, L’Oréal has released the Gold Obsession Collection which features three moisturising shades designed to complement all skin tones with gold coated pigments.

Try the Rose Gold shade for daytime, use Nude Gold for added glam or go all out with Plum Gold for a more daring party look.

The range debuted at Paris Fashion Week last month and is now available in selected pharmacies nationwide, with each lipstick retailing for €11.99.

All of us – at this stage – know that beauty hacks fall under one of two categories.

They either become the holy grail of your cosmetic routine or are immediately relegated to a process which you will be avoiding at all costs – lube primer, we're looking at you.

But by the sounds of things, one trend which has been received pretty well by Instagram's brow brigade is a soap technique shared by Anastasia Soare..

Using a spoolie brush, the cosmetic queen coated her brows with soap in order to feather the hair and ultimately create the illusion of a fuller brow.

Finishing off the look in an Instagram video, Anastasia then used her standard brow products and her followers are pretty impressed.

So, will you be trying it?

With almost 200,000 followers on Instagram alone, Ireland’s leading fashion blogger, Suzanne Jackson, knows a thing or two about style.

But while the founder of So Sue Me insists that the key to dressing well involves a combination of high-street clothing and upmarket accessories, she says she will not be opting for an online label for her highly anticipated 2017 wedding.

Speaking exclusively to SHEmazing!, the cosmetics entrepreneur reveals that she has yet to start shopping for her August 5 ceremony – when she will marry long-term love Dylan O'Connor – but eagerly explains the importance of finding a gown which is totally unique to her.

“I kind of want to go all out,” admits Suzanne.

“I’m going to have something that hasn’t been seen before on another bride… I have my eye on a couple of different designers so I don’t know yet, but I know I won’t be in high street for my wedding day.”

Having recently returned from a Sofia Richie-led Pretty Little Thing event in London, things seem to be going from strength to strength for the 31-year-old Dubliner.

Styles from her new lash line have already been a huge hit with beauty lovers. Meanwhile, her country-wide workshops have completely sold-out and she's just about to reveal the next instalment of her beauty line which is due to debut in pharmacies this November.

But despite her success, Suzanne remains adamant that her brand would not have reached such heights without a lot of hard work and, of course, the valued support of her readers.

“Everything I do is 150 percent,” explains the popular brunette. “I built So Sue Me from the ground. I wasn’t famous before I did it. I didn’t have any backing from anybody. I built it from nothing and I’m very proud of that.

“My readers are the reason why I am successful today, so I like to build relationships with them. [My workshops] give me a great chance to meet them and for them to hear my story.

“I think people leave very inspired and I think that it’s really important as well to give people inspiration and give them the motivation to go do something for themselves.”

Noting the change in weather, Suzanne says faux leather is her favourite trend for the Autumn/Winter season, but insists that no matter what time of year it is, she stands behind one key style rule.

“My tip for people no matter what the season, is to always invest in your staple pieces. I would say to get a really good winter coat that doesn’t look too over the top, a nice jacket maybe with a faux fur trim around the neck that could act as a scarf… Invest in a really nice pair of ankle boots, good denims and I think you’re ready to go.”

Sounds like solid advice to us!

The Internet has thrown up some peculiar beauty trends in the last few years, but using lube as a primer has to be one of the strangest.

In a new video by YouTuber Hunda Beauty, Hunda Kattan documents the effectiveness of a lubricant, Vagisil, Milk of Magnesia, aftershave balm and olive oil as priming products for makeup.

During the four minute video, the Dubai-based beauty blogger explains that lube is somewhat similar to silicon-based primers, while the feminine anti-itch cream, Vagisil, contains an oil controlling ingredient.

After applying makeup over the products, Hunda found that lube does not make a decent primer (awh!), but Vagisil hydrated her skin, controlled oil and worked well beneath cosmetics.

With Harry Potter makeup brushes casting a spell over social media, it seems there is huge demand for movie themed cosmetics.

And now the incredible people at Storybook Cosmetics – aka the geniuses who brought the Patronus palette to life – have set their sights on one of our all-time favourite flicks.

Last week, the brand used Instagram to showcase its ideas for a Mean Girls makeup palette and, so far, the Internet reacted with a squeal, speed tagging and pretty much every Regina George quote you can think of.

On Wednesdays, we wear  Mean Girls Makeup.  (Tentative idea, all depends on licensing )

Dressed in Burn Book packaging, the palette would feature cleverly named eyeshadow shades including ‘Wednesday’, ‘Army Pants’, ‘So Fetch’, ‘Mouse…Duh’, ‘You Can’t Sit With Us’, ‘ESPN or Something’, ‘Glen Coco’ and ‘Flip Flops’.

According to Refinery29 the project is still its infancy, but since Storybook Cosmetics are seeking licencing permission to create the Burn Book palette, we’re hopeful that this dream will soon become a reality.

In a move which has captured the attention of more than half a million people today, one Instagram user has uploaded a video which seeks to highlight the pressure placed on young women in today's society.

Karolina Maria, a 20-year-old makeup artist from Norway, begins her message by showing herself scrolling through a social media feed before becoming disillusioned by the images beamed back at her.

Seeking to alter her appearance in an attempt to meet the ideal depicted on countless social media accounts, a fresh-faced Karolina begins applying make up, but after overhauling her appearance with the help of cosmetics decides she's still not up to par.

Explaining the motivation behind the video in the accompanying message, Karoline wrote: "I think it's just so crazy how plastic surgery and fillers have become so normal."

"Don't you ever compare yourself to someone else and think you are less, because only YOU are you, and you are BEAUTIFUL just the way you are."

Karolina's post has been inundated with support from Instagram users, with one writing: "Such a powerful video I hope this reaches women everywhere."

"Love the message of this video! Nowadays it's so impossible to fit the beauty standards," added another.

It took us most of our teenage years to master how to blend our foundation into our jawline, but once we had that down, we thought we were sorted.

We weren't, of course, because while we were busy dealing with our jawline, we were completely neglecting another line – our hairline, obvs.

If you've ever arrived to work or college and realised your base is giving your hair a grey tinge akin to your granny's 70th birthday snap, then you're not alone.

And if you're one of those girls who used your fringe to avoid properly blending your make-up, then meet your sisters.

But it looks like we need no longer fear the washed-out septuagenerian look if Margot Robbie's recent tips are anything to go by.

Speaking to ELLE, the Aussie star revealed her top trick for avoiding the look we've spent too much of our life rocking.

"My friend taught me this trick that I use it every day. When I put on foundation, I use an eyebrow brush or toothbrush to brush it into my hairline so that it all blends," she explains.

"Especially because I have blond hair but tanned skin, if I don't blend it, it looks gross – you can see the foundation in my hair."

Unlike the rest of us however, Margot's boyfriend struggles to understand much of her beauty routine.

"I do that every single day, and every time my boyfriend [Tom Ackerley] is like, what are you doing? And I'm like, I'm brushing my makeup into my hairline! And he's like, girls are crazy."

Crazy… but perfectly blended thanks to your girlfriend, Tom.

It’s already the go-to site for Saturday night style, but it seems Missguided has plans to take over another sector of online shopping.

The brand – which hit headlines last week for selling controversial Brangelina breakup tees – has released a new line of beauty products which includes, among other things, an eyeshadow palette, contour kit and nail polish set.

For nights in, there’s also glittering bubble bath, fizzy bath bombs and pamper-focused gift sets.

In true Missguided style, the range features holographic packaging, is affordably priced and involves plenty of unicorn references.

Time to start filling that virtual cart!

She already has a best-selling range of nail polishes, as well as a mega-hit contour palette.

And now – finally – Suzanne Jackson has released strip lashes, so (fingers crossed!) we can get the blogger’s gorgeously full look ourselves.

Yes, under the SOSU brand, the 31-year-old Dubliner has created not one but TWO lash collections – Human Hair Lashes, which boasts eight different varieties, and 3D Luxury Silk Lashes, of which there are four different types.

The Human Hair lashes (€5.95 per set) are lightweight, of premium quality and enable beauty lovers to create quick and easy everyday looks.

While the 3D Luxury Silk Lashes are notably more costly at €19.95 a pair, they come in more dramatic designs and, once cared for, can be reused up to 20 times.

Speaking of her new venture, Suzanne said: “The initial SOSU Lash journey began three years ago but for me the range had to be perfect – a premium lash collection offering plenty of choice and catering for everyone.”

According to sosu.ie, the Ella, Gigi and Katie lashes – all of which are from the Human Hair collection – are already sold out.

Currently, the other nine lash styles are still available online.

SOSU Human Hair Lashes cost €5.95 and SOSU 3D Luxury Silk Lashes retail at €19.95.  SOSU Lashes are available from selected pharmacies nationwide and www.sosu.ie.

You might have some chance of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but these days it’s harder than ever to keep track of Kylie Jenner’s hair.

While often opting for vibrant colours like blue and green, the reality star’s latest look is that bit more subtle as it’s now a pastel shade of rose gold.

Using social media to tease her freshly dyed tresses, yesterday the 19-year-old posted a photo of herself pouting in a ripped tee and spotted jacket to Instagram.

But since the young entrepreneur was quick to delete the pic, we can't guarantee she’ll be holding on to her new candy-colour.
