Late last week Blurred Lines star Emily Ratajkowski set tongues wagging when she wore an extremely plunging Julien Macdonald gown to a New York Fashion Week event.

And while we thought the actress pulled off the eye-catching LBD like only she could, critics like Fashion Police’s Tim Gunn weren’t quite as impressed with the navel skimming ensemble.

According to Us Weekly, the 63-year-old fashion consultant was quick to brand Emily’s outfit as “appallingly vulgar and revealing” during a televised discussion of the gown.

While claiming he wasn’t shocked by the dress because he “lived through the 1960s”, the Project Runway co-host did go as far as to suggest the dress would be enough to turn him off his food.

Clearly unimpressed with Tim’s comments, Emily has taken to Twitter to defend her outfit of choice.

In a series of tweets – which begin with a reference to a recent article she wrote in defence of female sexuality – the avid feminist said: “When I wrote my Glamour article, I was just thinking of men who call women attention seeking for being sexy.”

“I wasn’t thinking of the hosts of nationally televised shows who call women vulgar because they can see their stomachs.”

The outspoken star continued by highlighting the way in which male voices try to dictate how women dress.

“Western men in 2016: Want to ban women abroad from voluntarily covering themselves at the beach then want women to cover up their ‘vulgar’ bodies at home.”

She finished be asking: “Who controls women’s bodies in 2016?”

“It’s 2016.  Why keep trying to dictate what women can wear?”

Wish your man had a face like David Beckham?  Well, the solution might be closer to hand than you think.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has revealed that the secret to her husband’s enviable complexion actually comes from her own beauty bag, but says she has no problem with David dipping into her stuff as “he looks so beautiful” because of it!

In a new interview with This Morning, the fashion designer spoke candidly about her husband’s love for women’s beauty products and her five-year-old daughter’s special talent.

Speaking at New York Fashion Week, the star confessed: “David does steal my beauty products…It doesn’t annoy me, he looks so beautiful, that no, it doesn’t annoy me.”

And while high heels still manage to turn the best of us into a team of unstable giraffes, young Harper Beckham has officially got her heel strut down.

Her mum said: “Harper loves beauty!  She loves it, I’m very close with all of the children but the great thing about Harper being a little girl, she loves to play with makeup and that’s really great mother and daughter time.”

According to The Mirror, the 42-year-old also told This Morning that contrary to popular belief she does actually smile on a regular basis.

She said: "I mean I actually do smile quite a lot, I know that that really does shock people… Smile! I think it is really good to be happy, I feel very happy, lucky, blessed, I really do, I’m very, very lucky.”

We're often advised to treat ourselves like we treat our best friends, but how many of us actually do it?

When the ladies in our life lament their stretch marks, hair style or wobbly tum, we rush to their defence and insist they acknowledge all their wonderful attributes.

And yet we rarely do the same for ourselves; deciding instead to berate ourselves over every perceived flaw and imperfection.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

In an effort to overhaul her own attitude to her appearance, YouTuber, Rachel Levin, made a video which has racked up an impressive 2.2 million views in four days.

I Am Ugly, which was shared on YouTube on Sunday, shows Rachel struggling to list her imperfections when confronted by her younger self.

"You said my dark circles were too dark, my nose was too big, my lips were too small, and my eyebrows were too bushy," the young girl say to her older self. "What else is wrong with me, Rachel?"

Everyone else picturing their own six-year-old face? Yeah, us too.

She may be worth millions and have oodles of insider info at her fingertips when it comes to style, but that doesn't mean Victoria Beckham doesn't like to nab a bargain or two in the beauty department.

The star, whose New York Fashion Week show became the talk of Instagram this week, revealed that she swears by a product most of us could find in our kitchen cupboards.

Speaking to This Morning, the acclaimed fashion designer paid tribute to the wonder that is – wait for it –  coconut oil.

Offering a hint into her daily routine, Victoria confirmed that she's only mad for the kitchen staple, saying: "I use coconut oil, the kind of oil that you would cook with."

"I use it all over my body as well because it's really really moisturising," she added.

And while we know numerous celebrities use coconut oil to stay looking their best, we wouldn't have pictured the mum-of-four stocking up on beauty staples in the oil and condiment aisle.

But if Victoria, who has access to the best products on the market plumps for the humble coconut oil, who are we argue?

Form an orderly queue, ladies.

Between wigs, makeup and plastic surgery you can never be sure what a celebrity will look like from one day to the next.

But while she may be guilty of adjusting her appearance with the assistance of hair dye, Michelle Keegan says she has not used Botox to improve her face.

In a new interview with The Mirror, the Coronation Street star claimed that while she doesn’t have a problem with Botox, she personally hasn’t availed of its benefits.

While defending herself against recent claims that her face looked different in Our Girl than it had previously, the 29-year-old said: “Everyone says that I’ve changed my face and I’ve had Botox, but you have to be able to move your face when you’re an actress – which I can do.”

“So you can see I haven’t had it.  I don’t worry about what people say though, what’s the big deal about Botox?  I know loads of people who’ve had it, it’s not a big deal.”

So why did Michelle look different in the new BBC drama?  Well maybe it’s because she was wearing less makeup than usual.

The star said: “I loved that fact that I was stripped back for this role – no makeup, my hair was up, it was liberating.”

“People always see me in nice dresses, looking done.  I thought it was a really nice opportunity to show them my acting.”

There’s only one thing more sickening than people seeing a dodgy photo of you and that’s when that stomach flipping pic is permanently preserved in your final year yearbook.

But while many of us live to regret not asking for a reshoot on photo day, one 17-year-old New Yorker decided he would take matters into his own hands.

Unhappy with his potential yearbook picture, James Charles from Bethlehem, New York, retook his senior year photos to make sure everyone remembered just how on fleek his highlighting skills really are.

The aspiring makeup artist told BuzzFeed News that on the day of the original yearbook photoshoot the available lighting did not do his makeup justice – hate that – and so James decided to organise a shoot of his own.

Desperately in need of an “iconic” senior year picture, the teen quickly sourced a photography company who would allow him to use a ring light – a tool used by makeup artists and bloggers to ensure photos really do their skills justice – and had the photos retaken.

James was so impressed with the final results he took to Instagram to share his experience.

In a post which has since received almost 100,000 likes and nearly 5,000 comments, he wrote: “So I retook my senior photos & brought my ring light with me so my highlight would be poppin.  I love being extra.”

A tweet about the incident received a similar reaction, with even former Disney star Zendaya coming out to celebrate the move.  She retweeted James’ story with the caption “you win”.

If James’ work is good enough for Zendaya, it is definitely good enough for us!

Look, we all know that with a world of beauty comes a world of pain.

From waxing and threading to blistered heels and aching calves, looking good definitely comes at a price, and it looks like this girl just found hers.

In a move which has internet users falling all over themselves this week, Twitter user, Cachet, decided to share the moment she got stuck in her own face mask.

And hell, that girl can squawk.

After an agonising minute working the treatment off her skin, Cachet did what any girl would do in that situation, and decided to look on the bright side… for a moment.

"My skin is soft!" she told the camera before admitting that her face was, in fact, burning off her.

Despite Cachet's undeniable agony, members of the public are keen to focus on the results, with one writing: "I laughed but I lowkey wanna try it because her skin is nice."

"Skin looks buff though," wrote another Twitter use while someone else added: "Your skin pop though!"

And we thought getting our eyebrows threaded was something to shriek about…

If our Irish mothers taught us anything during our hideously awkward teenage years, it's that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So while you may have longed for Angelina Jolie’s lips, and your mate may have been all about Kate Hudson's smaller pout, the lad in your History class may actually have seen something in your chapped pucker.

And it is, as we all know, incredibly difficult to define the ‘perfect’ face, but it sounds like Harley Street facial cosmetic surgeon Dr Julian De Silva has come pretty damn close.

Based on the requests for famous facial features from 1,000 women about to undergo cosmetic surgery, Dr De Silva has revealed the world’s most desirable face.

And in fairness, it is pretty stunning.

Boasting Keira Knightley’s eyes, Kate Middleton’s nose, Penelope Cruz’s lips and Selena Gomez’s chin, this computer-generated face is an example of the features favoured by those going under the knife.

Commenting on requests he receives from patients at the Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, Dr. De Silva said: “Obviously the challenge for me is to look at their facial proportions and advise whether this will be a good look for them after surgery.”

"Thankfully, a lot of the time, it works very naturally to replicate a nose like the Duchess of Cambridge's or eyelids similar to Keira Knightley's,” he said.

“But on other occasions we do have to amend the plans because there are limits to how far you can improve what nature has given you."

Acknowledging the patient's need to use celebrity features as a template, Dr. De Silva added: "What is wrong with wanting to look like your favourite star? It helps cosmetic surgeons to quickly establish exactly what a patient wants."

Amen.

Fame and fortune may come with many perks, but not being able to venture past your own front door without undergoing an hour’s worth of intensive contouring isn’t one of them.

And while many celebrities give in to the superficial expectations of their respective industries, earlier this year singer-songwriter Alicia Keys chose to ditch the slap in favour of a freer life.

The 35-year-old’s decision – the details of which she outlined in a post on Lenny Letter – initially received widespread praise, but unfortunately for Alicia – and women in general – she has since been subject to a lot criticism online.

On Sunday night the best-selling author stunned in a bohemian style full-length dress at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in New York but despite looking amazing, the star’s critics quickly came out in force to shame her makeup-free face.

Examples of the comments written about at the singer include: “I understand Alicia Keys wants to do the ‘no makeup’ thing but baby girl at least get some concealer and lashes.”

And: “Fill in the brows and a little bit of tinted lip balm.  And she’ll be straight.”

Meanwhile, the mother of two was also accused of straight up lying about the fact she went au naturel.

One Twitter user wrote: “Alicia Keys is wearing makeup.  JUST SAYING”.  While another said: “We all know you wear bb cream, sis.  Also, how does no makeup correlate to this haggard look you’re running around with.”

Yesterday the American activist addressed her critics on social media by sharing a photo of her makeup free self blowing a kiss at the camera along with the caption: “Ya’ll, me choosing to be makeup free doesn’t mean I’m anti-makeup.  Do you!”

So far the post has been retweeted 58,000 times and has received 100,000 likes.

It’s pretty clear the No One singer is more than happy with her new beauty regime as she has already vowed to maintain her natural look for the upcoming series of The Voice.

If you suffer from bumpy upper arms and calves, it's more than likely you tend to tackle the condition with an industrial-sized loofah.

Many of those who live with keratosis pilaris – as it is known among experts in the field of dermatology – are under the assumption that exfoliating the area will help to rid skin of patchy bumps, but it sounds like we're way off the mark here.

Commenting on the skin condition, dermatologist, Doris Day, explained that keratosis pilaris is not something you can simply erase with the help of some study exfoliating gloves.

"You can't eradicate keratosis pilaris," she says. "It's a genetic condition where, for some reason, the follicles on the outer arms and thighs get clogged and don't naturally exfoliate."

"We used to think if you exfoliated enough, you'd be able to undo KP," she continued. "But exfoliating can actually irritate the bumps and make them much worse."

So, what are we ladies of the bumpy upper arms meant to do now?

Well, according to Allure, we need to invest in cleansers which contain salicylic acid and moisturisers which contain lactic acid.

"Lactic acid is great for KP because it loosens cells over time to gently exfoliate skin," Dr. Day explained. "It's also a humectant, which means it will add moisture and minimize irritation."

Pulling yourself together after a long-haul flight or even an early morning commute can be a day’s work in itself, but as Bella Hadid has shown in a new Vogue makeup tutorial, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Given that she’d been travelling for “for two months straight” at the time of filming, Bella – who is well known for her stunningly simple beauty looks – surely knows a thing or two about concealing the dehydrating effects a hectic lifestyle can have on the skin.

And while it’s clear that the young model is using high-end makeup products in the clip, it is interesting to note the ease with which she applies them.  While so many makeup tutorials achieve stunning results through precise, intensive and time-consuming application processes, the secret to Bella’s success seems to be her laid back approach.

In the short new video the teen can be seen applying a liquid concealer to much of her face before blending it in quickly with a beauty blender.  She then uses a cream Dior contour stick to define her cheek bones.

Again she uses the cosmetics sponge to blend, before adding a powder highlighter to the high points of her face and filling in her brows roughly with an eyebrow pencil.

Unusually the 19-year-old is shown putting a lash primer and mascara on her eyelashes before adding a gold shimmer shadow to her lids with her finger.

Finally Bella uses some clear gloss on her lips and twirls her wet hair into a bun to complete her fresh-faced off-duty look.  It’s that simple!
