If tending to your bikini area with a razor is second nature to you, you may want to consider the warnings issued by experts who know so much more about the inner workings of our bits than we could ever claim to.

Commenting on the trend which exists among a vast majority of women who choose to remove most – if not all – of their pubic hair, Dr Vanessa Mackay of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists suggests we need to rethink this practice.

Speaking recently to The Independent, she explained: "Pubic hair offers a natural barrier to keep things clean, to decrease contact with viruses and bacteria, and to protect the tender skin of the area."

According to those in the know, when we go to town on ourselves with the razor for both hygiene and aesthetic purposes, we are actually increasing our chances of contracting infections.

"While protecting against diseases and skin problems, pubic hair prevents foreign particles like dust and pathogenic bacteria from entering the body," she continued.  "Pubic hair also helps to control the moisture of the area which decreases the chances of yeast infections."

It sounds like we might need to start embracing our natural look…

Whether she was rocking an Alice band, a long sleek bob or a head of beachy waves, Lauren Conrad generally remained pretty consistent when it came to her hair colour.

Warm honey tones tended to be the order of the day for the former reality TV star, but it looks like she's decided to go all Taylor Swift at the Met Gala if a recent Instagram preview is anything to go by.

While the 30-year-old Laguna Beach-native herself has yet to unveil her new look to her five million followers, Kristin Ess – Lauren's stylist – has teased the transformation on her own Insta page, and people are OBSESSED.

Uploading a shot of a coy-looking Lauren sporting platinum-blonde tresses, Kristin wrote: "Got to spend this morning with my human doll @laurenconrad and some of my fave ladies at @enews@cinalin @iamcattsadler {hair by me & makeup by @amynadinemakeup."

"Just a bunch of hard working ladies making the world go round," she added in the post which has clocked up more than 8,000 likes since its upload this weekend.

The stylist's followers were all over Lauren's icy-blonde look, with one writing: "The perfection that is Lauren Conrad" and another commenting: "Lauren's new look is mesmerizing."

Ladies? We sense a hair appointment coming on…

Whether or not you’re a fan of the Kardashians you have to admit the girls do know a thing or two about makeup.

So it’s super exciting to hear that Khloe’s a fan of Maybelline’s super affordable Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara in the shade Extra Black.

According to Marie Claire, the reality star revealed on her app: "When it comes to mascara, more $$$ doesn't always mean more volume or length” before claiming that celebrity makeup artist Joyce Bonelli “beats” her lashes with the drugstore product.

Since the mascara retails at just €11.99 and is available in Boots stores and online, could you really go wrong?

If girls love anything it's flowers and makeup, so naturally a lipstick which contains tiny floating flowers is pretty much a dream come true.

Not only does this magical-looking product contain real flowers, it also changes colour throughout the day making it the stuff of actual dreams.

The clear lipstick – which was created by Chinese beauty brand Kailijumei – comes in three colours and dries matte when first applied.

But throughout the day the colour changes as it reacts to the temperature – getting lighter as things get cooler.

And as if that isn't awesome enough, this mesmerising lip product is made entirely of natural ingredients, including cocoa butter, olive oil and lavender oil which help keep lips hydrated.

Unfortunately due to being seriously Insta-famous, the lippy is all sold out but fingers-crossed it will be back soon.

When it comes to other people, there are certain parts of their body that most of us would quite happily never get too close to.

From touching other people's eyes to catching sight of someone's manky-looking toes, we can be a sensitive bunch when it comes to the human anatomy.

But, if the thought of getting all up in someone else's foot space makes your stomach turn, you can count yourself lucky that the vast majority of us have NO intention of exposing other people to these tooties of ours.

That's right ladies; a whopping 66% of the Irish public would rather swelter from the ankle down than actually reveal their feet in a pair of flip-flops.

Whether it's a lack of polish, the possible stank factor or the fact the our heels alone could bring us seven years bad luck, us Irish are very precious when it comes to getting our feet out for the lads.

In fact, according to a survey by Scholl, the same amount of people find this body part the biggest turn-off in their partner.

Is it any wonder we're so damn sensitive?!

The word ‘summer’ conjures up images of beautiful beaches, warm sunshine and glowing tans, but unfortunately us Irish are denied all three by our unpredictable weather and pasty complexions.

But not to worry – Catrice Cosmetics’ latest collection is packed full of golden tones and catwalk-inspired hues to help us look that bit warmer than we feel.

Since their Spring Summer ’16 range starts at under a fiver and is available in pharmacies and Penneys throughout the country, there’s no excuse to be left feeling pasty this summer.

Prime and Fine Beautifying Primer – €4.95:

This light-reflecting primer contains just the right amount of soft shimmer to brighten up the skin without making it look shiny.  Its innovative formula contains the ultra-hydrating Vitamin E to help keep skin moisturised.  And because it sets with a fresh dewy finish it can be worn with foundation or all on its own.

Sun Glow Mineral Bronzing Powder – €5.50:

This baked bronzing powder is perfect for adding warmth to fair complexions and just like the primer it also contains fine light reflecting particles.  The easy-blend formula can be brushed lightly onto the cheeks for a healthy summer glow or applied more precisely to help sculpt the face for a more glamorous look.

Liquid Metal Eyeshadow – €4.50:

Catrices’ Liquid Metal Eyeshadow range is highly pigmented, long lasting and boasts a unique 3D embossed effect.  Shades ‘Gold n Roses’ and ‘Satina Van Der Wooden’ can be used to add shimmer to any summer look.

Long Lasting Eye Pencil Waterproof – €2.60:

For a more striking metallic look, this new gold eyeliner would be your product of choice.  Its highly pigmented formula and smooth texture allow for accurate application, while its waterproof status means it is perfect for pool-side beauty.

Ultimate Nail Laquer – €2.95:

No golden goddess look would be complete without metallic-toned nails and Catrices’ Ultimate Nail Lacquer Collection has the perfect shade for just that.  Try ‘Go For Gold’ for a deep metallic finish, or pick one of ten shades from the Luxury Nudes (€3.30) set for a softer more shimmery finish.

Catrice Cosmetics are available at Penneys and in pharmacies nationwide.

While it’s fairly sophis’ to have a signature scent, most of us see the benefit of having a little variety in our perfume collections.

Switching between ‘day’ and ‘night’ fragrances is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our attitude towards perfume here at SHEmazing! HQ.

In fact, a quick poll in the office revealed that the vast majority of us have ‘date’ perfumes, ‘girlie’ perfumes and ‘special memory’ perfumes, so we know our stuff when it comes to our scents.

And because we’re such fragrance junkies, we fell all over ourselves when we heard Azzaro and Mugler have launched two new him and her perfumes.

Angel Muse, which boasts a pretty slick design, is a subtle fragrance we can’t get enough of, and we’re just DYING to add it to our collection.

Both fragrances will be available in Arnotts and Debenhams, so form an orderly queue ladies.

Summer can be tricky in Ireland especially if you have a big event coming up.

You never know if it will be bright and sunny or if you'll be running for cover from a shower of hailstones.

Given this classic national dilemma, Irish designer, Helen McAlinden has us totally covered, and we are PUMPED!

Her new SS16 collection boasts form-fitting dresses, sexy jumpsuits, cool and casual skirts as well as really breathable cover-ups (In case the sun and rain hit at the same time – cheers, Ireland!)

Helen is celebrating her 15th year in Irish Fashion, and it clearly stands to her as she totally understand exactly what us cailíní want.

Her overall influence for this season is American 30s, 40s, and 50s flare – pairing nautical prints with simple structured dresses that will suit any body type.

Her designs will nip you in at the waist -creating a perfect hourglass shape – all the while concealing any lumps and bumps you may want to hide (Damn that extra slice of chocolate cake).

Our top picks at the moment are the slinky navy jumpsuit (perfect for date night), the denim crossover skirt (perfect for a cool summer wedding) and the faux suede tied jacket (perfect for any evening event, really).

So, if you're heading to a wedding, a party, the races, or just fancy dressing up for the fun of it, Helen McAlinden will have you sorted.

Commenting on her SS16 collection, the acclaimed designer said: “My designs are underpinned with the very best fabrics, chosen for luxurious quality and durability of style."

"It is always my goal to create a range to suit real women’s shapes and to flatter all ages, and I feel my latest collection has achieved what I set out to create," she added.

Oh, it certainly has.

The Helen McAlinden SS16 collection is now available in her flagship South William Street store, Arnotts and House of Fraser in Dundrum Town Centre or visit her website here.

But short of carting our entire cosmetic collection along with us, it can be tricky keeping on top of this which is why we’re pumped that Vichy have us covered with a product which comes in at a mere €10. Oh we know, right?!

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water, which was sourced at the heart of the French Volcanic region, strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier function and leaves you with a dewy glow no matter what you’re getting up to this summer!

One quick spritz of this supercharged wonder product  is exactly what you need whether you’re getting your chill on by the pool or getting down and dirty at this  year’s biggest fest.

They may have been a firm favourite with some people for quite a while now, but that doesn't mean any of us here at SHEmazing HQ gotten at all used to the existence of penis-shaped lipsticks.

Call us backward, but make-up products which boast their own intricate little veins (shudder), are not something we generally gravitate towards, you know?

And now for some reason, these particular lipsticks have been doing the rounds on social media lately, and while we're impressed by the attention to detail, we cannot imagine seeing one nestle amongst our own beloved compacts and highlighters.

Uhhhhhhhh I love this

If, however, you're only dying to spice up the contents of your dressing table, these phallic-shaped cosmetics can be purchased through Etsy, and are available in a variety of shades and shimmers.

And while they're clearly a must-have if you're knee-deep in L-signs, blow-up dolls and penis straws, we personally draw the line at a daily application.

YouTube is absolutely flooded with hair tutorials and make-up demos, and yet very few of us manage to keep up with all the latest tips, tricks and hacks on the beauty scene.

We’ve definitely heard of the latest trend and we might have actually seen it on someone in the flesh (the future is now, ladies), but when it comes to our own regime, a lot of us play it safe and stick to the old reliables in our make-up bag.

While it’s cool to find a style that suits and work it to the max, many of us tend to make the same make-up mistakes and skin care slip-ups on a daily basis which is why broadening your horizons on the cosmetic front is always a worthwhile exercise.

Here are just five times (this week) that we've failed on the beauty front.

1. The nitty-gritty

You could have splurged on the most expensive foundation on the market, but if your skin care routine isn’t up to scratch, you’re cheating yourself out of a flawless complexion.

Cleansing and toning are undoubtedly two of the more tedious aspects of our beauty routine, and probably why most of us tend to skimp on it whenever we can.

If you’ve been a face-wipe-and-run kind of girl for as long as you can remember, it’s definitely time to school yourself on your skin type and tone in order to make the best of it.

2. Hair care hassle

For many of us, drying, straightening and curling has become as regular a morning habit as brushing our teeth, but unfortunately this daily routine leaves our locks open to a world of trauma.

A lot of us are unsure how to best heat-style our hair without subjecting it to serious damage which is why many of us spend more time than we’d like to admit seeking and destroying split ends.

Learning how to style your hair without destroying it is the holy grail of hair care and something a lot of us need to learn sooner rather than later!

3. Make up ‘mares

You may have a foundation or blusher which you wouldn’t give up on pain of death, but as our look evolves over time, it’s important to keep on top of the cosmetic game and not rely on the same shades and styles for years.

Choosing the correct products and establishing the most flattering colours for you is what sets you apart from everyone else, and yet some of us still rock a product which should have been left behind years ago.

If you’ve found yourself frantically scrubbing a tidemark out of your jawline at some stage this week, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about!

4. Nailing it

Us Irish girls are absolutely MAD for Shellac and Geleration, and while they look fantastic at the time, it’s important to treat your nails well between treatments.

Giving your nails time to breathe, conditioning your cuticles and tending to your talons isn’t exactly something we’re taught in school, but it is something every girl should have a handle on.

Seeing your nails break and flake is about as uplifting as an evening watching The Antiques Roadshow.

5. Sun care slip-up

Read the lifestyle bio of any beauty industry heavy-hitter and they’ll insist that sun cream is one of the most important products in their beauty bag.

While some things that happen on holiday should remain on holiday, protecting your skin from the sun is not one of them, girls.

Yes, there are more wet days than any other in this country, but that doesn’t mean you’re immune from the sun’s rays, so schooling yourself on the damage which can be done when you scrimp on protection is an absolute must.

Thankfully, learning about skin care routines, make-up application, hair styling and nail nourishment has never been easier, so if you're interested in upping your game over the summer, why not check out the week-long courses kicking off at the Beauty Bootcamp Studios on Dublin's Fitzwilliam Street?

Taking place in June, July and August at just €190 a pop, the Total Teen Beauty Course is your one-stop-shop when it comes to all things beauty-related.

Oh, and at the end of the week when your winged eyeliner is on on fleek and your hairstylin' has been locked down, you'll walk away with a goody bag worth a cool €50.

You can find out more about the Beauty Bootcamp Studios and their various other courses right here!
