Often there is a constant struggle between wanting to have the most perfect cat-eye and contouring combination, but also wanting to stay in bed as long as possible. Often the snooze button can be the big winner there and we are left struggling with uneven eyebrows for the remainder of the day.

Finding inspiration in our favourite stars on the red carpet it great, but then we are reminded of the fact that they have a professional team of people to help them get ready and hours to do so.

However, there are some easy ways that you can manage perfect makeup in five minutes flat.

Sculpted cheekbones:

Sweep a flat rounded blush brush  over your blush. Then, smile and starting at the apples of your cheeks, use light strokes toward the tops of your ears. This keeps the blush exactly where you want it (on the apples) and helps blend it out seamlessly.

Quick Contouring:

You don't need an expensive palette or an overly complicated face map. All you need to do is make sure you have a decent bronzer. then, suck in you cheeks (a lá the duck face pose) and sweep the bronzer from the sides of your face towards the side of your mouth.

The perfect cat-eye:

No messy liquid liner required. Hurrah! Take a brown shadow, not too dark, and sweep it over the entire eyelid. Then use a slightly pointed shadow brush to bring a darker brown or black shadow close to the lash line and flick it out to create the winged effect. You can build on the shadow to make it darker depending on how you feel.

Speedy lip lining:

Apply your lip colour. Then, only apply lip liner where needed, no need for hours spent getting the perfect outline. Just on the cupid's bow and towards the middle of your bottom lip.

There have been a lot of beauty trends attempting to give us both definition and dewy perfection over the years. Contouring, baking and strobing have all had their time in the limelight. However, contouring is not going away any time soon.

We reckon this is probably because when done correctly the results are flawless.

However, there have been moments (many moments) when people needed to put down the brushes and think about about their choices because it was just not working. Contouring is hard. Getting all the right shades in all the right places and blending until you have a sprained wrist can be a challenge.

Just ask some of these people:

Why are you contouring your collarbones?

These days it seems that there is a new beauty trend that we absolutely must try nearly every five seconds.

In case you haven’t noticed, eyebrows are having something of a beauty moment as it is so it is no surprise really then that the latest trend is all about the brows. This time instead of shaping, threading, waxing or even contouring them, people are dyeing them.

We do not mean with the aim of matching our hair colour either. People are dyeing their eyebrows after taking inspiration from the colours of the rainbow.

So think violet, aqua, red and even orange.

Blue eyebrows are now on fleek, and we really have no idea whether we love this or not.

Expert colourist Aura Friedman has also pointed out that as your eyebrows are so close to your eyes, naturally, you need to exercise some caution if you decide to take the plunge.

Also, it would probably be best to consult a professional, because there really is no hiding from these bad boys…

From oil-slicked to opal coloured, our hair has been seeing some bizarre trends this tea. It has become very clear that innovative hair colouring is having something of a moment.

Now there is a new application process that is promising to be just as cool as all of the others, maybe even better: hand pressed colour.

Cosmopolitan reports that the trend is designed to create beautiful blended effects much faster than traditional dye. It also looks like a painters dream.

Redken colourist Chiala Marvici explained to the magazine:

"I have a painting in my apartment that a friend did for me a while ago that has a lot of colors on it, and I fell asleep one night and dreamt of all these layers of paint living together on one surface.”

When she woke up, she thought about how beautiful that would be on hair, and she could “translate that vision onto the hair.”

The technique involves the colourist swirling different dyes (in the most random patterns you can imagine) onto a sheet of plexi-glass.

Then they place a section of hair flat on the glass, then they use a blunt knife to press the pattern onto the hair so the colours blend together.

The technique doesn’t actually leave the actual shape of the pattern painted on the glass like actual screen printing, but otherwise it is quite similar. To be honest, with the way beauty trends are escalating these days we would not be surprised if the next step was actually screen printing colour on your hair.

When someone tells us that we can achieve better skin without cutting out our favourite snacks then we are going to support that idea.

Some of these are not that surprising, green tea has been celebrated for being rich in anti-oxidants and adding it to your favourite recipes can help you achieve a flawless complexion. However, did you know that red wine can do the same? Along with more of your favourite foods wine can also be used to help clear up your skin.

This is the best news we’ve heard all week.

Almonds

Rich in Vitamin E to help improve complexion and protect against pathogens. Also, almond butter is the snack of the food-gods so a clear winner there.

Beef

Burgers for everyone! Ok, so maybe not Big Macs three meals a day, but grass-fed beef is a source of omega-3 fatty acids to improve your skin’s elasticity.

Avocado

One study from 2008 found that avocados are rich in Vitamin D, E and A which help replench dry or damaged skin.

Dark Chocolate

High levels of cocoa hydrate your skin and make it more firm and supple. The antioxidants it contains also improve your skin’s luminosity. So, give us all of the chocolate.

Red Wine

Research from Harvard Medical School has shown that red wine drinkers reap the benefits of resveratrol which is an anti-aging agent found in the skin of red grapes.

While we agree it can be almost impossible to keep up with all of the latest beauty products, there is one that has caught our attention of late.

We are forever being told how to keep our skin looking youthful and it seems that we are being inundated with the very best of beauty regimes, oils, masks and so on to help retain a dewy glow. Which is all great but how do we know what to choose?

The people at Dermalogica have helped us narrow it down.

They are introducing their new AGE Smart Overnight Retinol Repair serum next month. The first of its kind, with a medical professional seal of approval no less, the retinol treatment is design to accelerate skin renewal.

The key ingredient is a high concentration of Retinoal, pure Vitamin A which has been proven to reverse the signs of aging caused both by the natural aging process, and harmful outside forces.

The treatment, applied a night with the accompanying buffer cream to help soothe your skin while you sleep, works to stimulate collagen production.

Collagen improves your skins appearance as it boosts the elasticity of your skin and helps prevent it from looking a little saggy. Michelle Keegan is a fan of collagen based products, and we all know her ‘woke up like this’ selfies are pretty impressive.

If there’s a chance we can have fresh-faced skin that’s going to help us prevent or even reverse any of the unwanted signs of ageing then we are all for it.

The latest wonder product will be available from October and retails from €91 for those who are looking to take their skin care to the next level.

There are a lot of beauty products on the market right now. For nearly every single skin type there’s a whole new range every week. It can be kind of intimidating trying to figure out what will work best for you. So often we get stuck in the same routine, or just using our go-to products every day.

However, without even realising our mistakes, our failsafe methods could actually be doing more damage than we realise. It might be time to break some of your old habits and start fresh, here’s how you can:

Stop using dirty brushes:

Your skin will be less likely to break out and your products will go on smoother with a fabulous finish, you can use mild soap and water.

Take your make-up off before bed:

Keep your pillowcases clean and stop bacteria building up on your skin. If you're feeling especially lazy at night, try and keep at least a packet of make up wipes beside your bed.

Are you over-exfoliating?

Exfoliating can reveal softer and healthier-looking skin, but over scrubbing can do damage you do not want. Look for a light, silky moisturizer to use overnight to help refresh your skin if you think you may have overdone it.

Did you forget your SPF this morning?

This is one habit that is essential for good skin health. Without it your skin can be more susceptible to sunspots, wrinkles and in serious cases skin cancers. Try and find a moisturiser or a foundation that has a measure of SPF to ensure that your protected everyday, even if you don't think it's hot enough, your skin still needs protecting.

How do you use eyeliner?

Whether you're keen to give tightlining a go, or if your preferred method of lining your eyes means your going close to the rim of your eyes, then be careful. If the tip of the pencil is sharp or full of fragments then you could be looking at a potential eye infection. Avoid this by ensuring the pencil is always clean and slightly rounded.

It's nearly that time of year again (sob).

The nights are becoming darker and the weather is getting colder – and with that comes a long list of unwanted beauty problems.

As the cold weather sets in, your skin will feel dry, flaky and chapped; and let's be honest, we really don't have time to deal with that.

But there are many practical ways to protect your skin during the colder months, and they're actually pretty easy to get used to.

Cover your skin from head to toe

Of course it's your natural instinct to bundle up when the cold weather hits, but be smart about your choices. Don't just throw on layers; wear gloves on your hands, a scarf around your neck, and protect any part of your chest that isn't covered by your coat.

Don't wash your hair every day

When you shampoo your hair, it actually strips your hair of natural oils. If you do this too often, along with harsh weather setting in, your hair will turn very dry and brittle. Try to go every second or third day instead to keep your hair in top-tip shape.

Provide more moisture

The moisture from your skin evaporates quickly in the cold and wind of winter months, and your skin produces less oil as well. To combat this problem, use a thicker moisturiser on your skin. But make sure it suits your skin type as you really don't want a break-out.

Use hand lotion

You use your hands for every task, every day – yet it's so easy to forget to take care of them. Use a specialised hand cream every morning and evening to help prevent them becoming sore and chapped.

Stay hydrated

You might want to sip hot chocolate during the colder months but it is really important to stay hydrated by drinking water every day. Not only will it help your body stay hydrated, it will help your skin too. This combined with your new moisturising routine, you won't even know it's winter outside!

Don’t we all at some point dream about having long, voluminous lashes without even trying? A life free from mascara wands and false lash glue sounds pretty appealing.

Unless you were one of the lucky people born with fabulous lashes, then chances are you may have considered faking your way to luscious lashes at one point or another.

However, some experts say that you can achieve great lashes without using falsies. No more sticky glue in tiny impractical tubes? Sounds good to us!

Consider a supplement

Not just for your lashes but healthy hair in general. Plenty of people are known to take a supplement that contains biotin to help promote healthy hair growth, this includes helping your lashes grow stronger.

Eat the right food

According to one expert apple cider vinegar is also known to increase hair growth when ingested, not when applied topically! Spinach, pineapples, cranberries and cauliflower all offer some of the same benefits too.

Consider some oils

Lavender essential oil is said to increase hair growth and strengthen follicles but you warned that as with applying anything to skin near the eyes to be extremely careful.

Try a strengthening treatment

If all else fails, there are serums and conditioning gels that are made with the purpose of helping your lashes to grow stronger and appear fuller over time.

For all you Potterhead and beauty lovers out there, it seems your dream has finally come true!

LA Splash Cosmetics has come up with a line of liquid lipsticks named after J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter characters and wizardry terms.

Needless to say, the colours are getting some serious publicity.

The lipsticks come in a range of dark and bright colours and some of the names include Bellatrix, Sirius, Lovegood and Ravenclaw.

While the whole Potter world is freaking out with excitement, some fans are taking it very seriously and getting angry that the colours and names don't match.

One Facebook user Samantha Miller commented: "Just because they took the names from a book, they think they're great and geeky. But the colors they used for each one are just No. Bellatrix should have been that deep, deep red she wore. Sirius should have been close to black in color. The navy for Bellatrix should have been Ravenclaw. Its just a mess."

If you agree or disagree, here's a look at the fabulous colours:
