If you struggle to muster up ANY enthusiasm for Kylie Jenner’s lip kits and think you’re more likely to find a highlighter in a pencil case than a makeup bag, you’re not alone.

While the rest of the world pry open palettes and have conniptions over contour techniques, the less interested among us remove the rubbery gunge from our pharmacy-bought foundation and power on.

And while it might seem like no big deal, it’s actually incredibly confusing to hear friends and family members gush over items that you don’t even know how to use.

Here are just ten things any girl with zero interest and zero skills in makeup department will know to be true.

1. You need a degree from NCAD to perfect the contoured look.

"Is the brown stripe meant to go here or here? And where will I put the cream stripe?"

2. You think hysteria over Kylie Jenner's lip kits is the end of humanity as you know it.

"You're joking right now, right?… Are you crying over lipgloss?"

3. Primer is nothing but a swizz and you won't be falling for it any time soon.

"€30? Thanks, but I'll be slapping on my €3 moisturiser as usual."

4. You replace makeup as it runs out, and not because a reality show star has released a new line.

"But don't you already have 13 of her glosses?"

5. You don't think you have enough face for the amount of products you've been advised to wear.

"My face will literally enter the room five minutes before I do if I add another layer, lads."

6. You thought you had cracked it when you splashed out on an eyebrow gel.

"Ladies, it's like mascara but for your BROWS."

7. Your makeup routine takes you 15 minutes and that's when you've used every single item in your makeup bag,

"I swear to God, I tried. I looked up a tutorial and everything."

8. You're not loyal to any brand, and you generally snap up a mascara if it's on special offer.

"Plastic wand? What would I care?"

9. Bristles stick to your face because you haven't splashed out on new brushes since your Debs.

"Yeah girls, cos I'm gonna spend €40 on a bloody brush?!"

10. You secretly wish you could get excited, and sometimes wonder if you're missing the cosmetic gene.

"Oh my God, have you guys seen the new palette by… oh, forget it. I can't fool yee."

If you've spent much of your life desperately trying to make your hair seem thicker, longer or more volumised, then you'll know that this mission is an ongoing one.

Having hair that resembles blonde dust or a barnet that breaks at the hint of heat is not for the faint-hearted.

It takes grit and determination to power through your mane mishaps especially when the rest of your crew are boasting barrel curls and rocking real-life ringlets.

If you have hair which REFUSES to grow or are, shall we say, a little sparse on top then you'll know ALL about the following struggles.

1. The bun bother

What looks like an effortlessly sexy way to keep your hair off your face makes YOU look like Miss. Trunchbull from Matilda.

"It's like a Malteaser on top of a beach ball, girls."

2. The grease glitch

When your hair is particularly fine even at its best, a little grease or light rain can actually make you look like you have a comb-over.

"I swear I could count the strands right now."

3. The straightening situation

You KNOW you're not doing yourself any favours, and yet you still insist on burning that crispy hair of yours to an actual cinder with the straightener.

"I can't help it. It's force of habit!"

4. The kissing conundrum

In the throes of passion, your significant other may have attempted to run his hand through your hair…only to find out you pretty much don't have any.

"Only do that after a salon blowdry! I've told you before!"

5. The parental pity

Like any Irish mammy, yours is just FULL of reassuring words and woe betide anyone who disagrees with her.

"You've fine hair, but LOTS OF IT, dya hear me?"

6. The fringe fuss

When you've got fine hair (but lots of it) you need to keep round-the-clock surveillance on your fringe.

"I swear, if I don't comb it every 20 minutes it starts looking like a barcode."

7. The patience problem

There's a special place in hell for people who tell you that your hair would just grow 'if only you left it alone'.

"You make me sick."

8. The hair hope

Every so often you'll land upon a product that SPEAKS to you, only to have your hopes dashed after the first application.

"Fooled again, girls. Fooled again."

9. The endless envy

Other girls covet each others bums, tums and boobs, and there you are salivating over every wave in that random stranger's hair.

"Honestly, I nearly reached out and touched it."

10. The nonstop negotiations

If you have to have one more argument with your hairdresser about the amount she's allowed to take off, you'll be forced to call the police on her.

"It's like she's robbing me blind every time I see her."

When it comes to skincare and having a beauty regime, it can quickly become confusing and even a bit overwhelming. From figuring out your skin type, to finishing your daily routine with the right women’s perfume for the occasion, suddenly your beauty regime sounds more like hard work.

It doesn’t have to be so mind-boggling! One of the first things to remember is that no matter your skin type, or how busy you may be, having any sort of regular routine can help to maintain healthy, glowing skin.

So, if you’re hoping to create a new beauty regime, overhaul your current routine or simply just learn a bit more about skincare, here are some top tips to help you get started.

Understand your skin type

Understanding your skin is so important before you buy any new products, as it can make sure you’re providing your skin with the treatment it needs. Most of us identify our skin type when we’re in our late teens, and often stick to that diagnosis into our 20s and beyond.

It’s worth keeping in mind that your skin will change significantly as you get older, so take some time to identify any new concerns or changing skin conditions. Either do your homework, or consider seeing a professional at a skincare counter to help you.

Keep it simple

It can be easy to get carried away once you start discovering a new routine. However, it’s important to keep it simple; this means you’ve got more chance of keeping it up every day! No one wants to spend half an hour in front of the mirror every morning or night, so stick to minimum products and it will quickly become part of your everyday routine.

One of the best tips for good skin maintenance is using a quality cleanser. Look out for the type of cleanser that will work best for your skin; they often come in various textures like a milk, cream, balm or facial wash.

You should follow your cleanser with a toner. Toners are designed to remove any leftover impurities which your cleanser may not have picked up. There are toners for specific skin types, created with a variety of ingredients, so don’t just choose any old type!

One of the final steps should be to moisturise; even if you have oily skin. Hydrating your skin through a moisturiser can ensure your skin remains healthy. You may want to consider a serum or eye cream to finish with.

It is worth noting that moisturiser is designed to sit on the surface of your skin and protect it from external elements. Serum, on the other hand, sinks right into your skin for extra treatment.

Protecting your skin

You don’t have to be on holiday or in direct sunlight to wear SPF. Our skin is almost always exposed to some sort of UV, even if it’s cloudy outside. By wearing some kind of sunscreen, even if it’s in your makeup, you’re protecting your skin from a multitude of things, such as skin discolouration and appearance of red veins or blotchiness.

Wearing SPF will also slow down wrinkles and stop your skin from prematurely ageing.

Your makeup and fragrance routine

Once you’ve achieved glowing, healthy skin, it’s important to incorporate the rest of your beauty regime. When it comes to applying makeup, consider investing in a primer that is designed for your particular skin condition. Makeup primers are designed to reduce redness, diminish pores or create a matte or dewy finish.

Also, as mentioned earlier, look for foundation that has SPF in it; a layer of foundation alone is simply not enough to protect your skin.

Wearing fragrance is the perfect finish to your beauty regime; but did you know there’s a skill to wearing it properly? Tips from beauty experts have revealed that you should never rub your wrists together after spraying perfume, as this creates friction and heat which can change the scent.

It’s also interesting to note that perfume doesn’t last long on dry skin; even more reason to look after your skin with the right products!

Whatever you do, don’t cover up your perfume with your clothes; target areas like your neck, wrist or inner elbow if you’re wearing short sleeves.

So, now you have a better idea of skincare, makeup and even fragrance, hopefully you can start to put together the perfect beauty regime that works for you.

The pioneering show 'Two in Eight' marks the shocking statistic that one in four people in Ireland will suffer from mental health problems; Pieta House will use the funds to help counsel those with suicidal ideation.

Sinéad Ronan Wells, Fundraising Executive for Pieta House, commented on the vital need for events such as these;

Pieta House operate a network of centres across the country, employing 270 qualified therapists. In 2018 we saw over 7,000 clients who were either at risk of suicide, engaging in self-harm, or bereaved by suicide," she added.

Why not give the trend a go and choose your favourite Bird Box concept for your next make-up regime, we guarantee you'll look incredible even while rowing a boat.

The early noughties WORSHIPPED the French manicure, and all of a sudden we're seeing a major comeback.

Between Ariana Grande using the trend as part of her iconic 00's chick-flick themed Thank U, Next music video, and Ocean's 8 featuring the nail art, fashion has taken a turn.

White-tipped nails were huge back in the day, everyone who was anyone sported the chic style craze. Heiresses such as Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian West aided the movement.

The trend appeared to die by the time 2010 came along, with those in the ensuing decade calling it cheesy and (*gasp*) TACKY.

The tide is turning, because the nail style is appearing everywhere from red carpets to fashion shows, from celebrity appearances to music videos.

We're seeing massive 1990s comebacks, from bands such as the Spice Girls and Westlife as well as reboots of popular TV shows and movies such as Sabrina.

It makes sense that nails should follow fashion and popular culture, and we're SO ready to whip out those white tips.

LeChat celebrity nail artist Elle has said that;

"Fashion has taken a '90s turn from influence, so of course the trends have returned from that era. I'm enjoying the new modern twists, maybe because it comes from my era."

"How you approach the modern take is vital; the nail shape should be a ballerina, not a square. If it's not done right, it will become 'basic'," she commented.

Heaven forbid.

Are you ready to WERK the trend, or do you think it should stay in the 2000s where it belongs?

Makeup can give you that special finishing touch for any prom look, so you can stand out from the crowd. Whether you are going for a low-key or high-fashion look, you want to make sure your makeup is done to perfection.

Although it would be lovely to have a professional come and do your makeup for the big night, this is not an affordable luxury for most people. We've got a few quick tips and tricks to help you take charge and get prom ready in no time, no stress.

Dress to Impress

You've probably spent a lot of time finding your dream prom dress, so it's important to centre your makeup look on it. Your makeup and dress should always compliment one another, rather than compete for attention.

For example, if you were wearing prom dresses in bright colours with embellishments such as this gorgeous number from JJ's House, a complimentary makeup look would be matching red lipstick with light eye makeup.

A heavily made-up eye area would be too busy for this style of dress and completely overdo your overall look.

If you're wearing a plainer style of dress like this JJ's House velvet gown, you can combine sultry, smoky eyes with your red lipstick as it's a makeup look that compliments the material and these styles of prom dresses.

Mirrored Magnificence

It might not usually be a good idea to copy other people's work or ideas, but when it comes to makeup looks, it's practically a recommendation!

We often see celebrities or models made up in a way that we think will suit us too – prom can be the perfect place to try it out!

The key to making this look work can be summed up in one word: practice! If you leave it until prom day to try it out, chances are it will be a complete disaster – it might look like a mess or just not look as good as you thought it would.

Prom night is not the time to work this out.

If you want to mirror the look of your favourite celebrity, practice and preparation are the best ways for you to get there.

Testing 1, 2, 3

One of the biggest things most people forget to do is make sure their makeup looks good in pictures. This is something that again is best to practice and prepare before the big night.

Flash photography can wash out your skin and makeup, and can make you look pasty and startled! You would be shocked to know what the biggest culprit for this is: moisturiser – or more specifically, moisturiser with sunscreen in it.

The sunscreen reflects the flash, completely washes out your face and mismatches the tone from your body.

Make sure you plan ahead and check to make sure the face cream or foundation you use on prom night does not include sunscreen. If it's only a small amount, you can try and take photos to test how reflective it might be.

This may be the beauty product we've all been waiting for…What are our two favourite things? Pizza + glamorous eyeshadow = pure, unadulterated joy.

Yep, that's the truth. Glamlite Cosmetics have changed the make-up game by creating a pizza-themed vegan eyeshadow palette, and it's absolutely unreal.

The cruelty-free, vegan beauty giant have described the Pizza Palette as; The world’s most ‘delicious’ palette, fresh out of the oven and ready for delivery!”

What an absolute QUEEN. We stan.

The palette features 18 stunning 'toppings' to choose from, and colours to match. The names range from earthy emerald shades of 'Basil' to the shimmery gold of 'Pineapple', and even metallic purple 'Red Onions'.

This woman is a genius. The product has also been JEFFREE STAR APPROVED, which is no easy feat.

Millennials don't exactly get an easy time; most people hate us or just dismiss us as snowflakes who only have knowledge about wi-fi and avocado toast.

While we generally have more of a penchant for the internet seeing as we GREW UP WITH IT… this doesn't mean we're as lazy and vain as everyone says we are.

For example, we only have three selfie sticks and check our reflections between the hours of 9am and 11pm everyday, so what's the big deal about?

We've all heard the lectures from our elderly relatives about how we drain the economy and refuse to get jobs, but people love to focus on the negatives rather than the positives.

Getting a millennial a Christmas gift can be a challenge, seeing as the chances of them being vegan, supporting paraben-free and cruelty-free produce and generally hipster and full of notions are sky high.

They'll also most likely blog the entire gift opening session, and post every aspect of it to social media, so it's gotta be impressive.

We've made a gift guide especially to help you out this festive season, y'all are welcome.

Beauty pageants such as Miss Universe attract a hell of a lot of negative attention daily, especially since Donald Trump owns one. Anything he owns usually turns to ash, TBF.

From those who feel it's concepts are totally outdated for the modern world, to those expressing concern over how problematic the notion of 'swimsuit bodies' is, pageants are often in the spotlight for scandals.

Once again, pageants are in the media after Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers, was filmed mocking foreign beauty queens and even IMITATING THEIR ACCENTS at the Miss Universe competition.

Can you believe?

A post shared by Diet Prada ™ (@diet_prada) on

This is beyond clueless.

The sexism surrounding the pageants is bad enough, without the racism added to the pile of problems. Summers can be heard saying;

"Miss Cambodia is here and doesn’t speak any English, and not a single other person speaks her language. Could you imagine?"

Summers then went on to mock yet another contestant, Miss Vietnam, saying:

"She’s so cute and she pretends to know so much English."

Not only did she mock her for her lack of English (as if Summers knows anything about being bilingual), she then made fun of how Miss Vietnam spoke.

Summers has since posted an apology after the internet went absolutely mad at her, understandably.

She wrote:

"In a moment where I intended to admire the courage of a few of my sisters, I said something that I now realise can be perceived as not respectful, and I apologise."

I mean, why did she say 'can be perceived' as disrespectful? It's straight up normalised racism, gal.

Own up to it, and check yourself, Regina George. *sigh*

While in Paris, there are a few must-do activities one has to comply with: eating fresh croissants, walking along the Seine, sipping on wine, visiting one of the many museums and of course, do some shopping.

During your haul, do not forget the mandatory stop in one of France's crowning glories, the pharmacies.

These skincare and beauty temples sell products for probably half the price compared to home and the offer is abundant.

To help you navigate the French pharmacy, we have gathered some products that French girls swear by.

1. Ducray Extra-Doux Shampoo

Suited for frequent use on delicate hair, this extra-gentle shampoo works well for every hair type.

This everyday favourite will leave your mane soft, shiny and won't irritate your scalp.

2. Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré

Used as a moisturiser, a makeup base or as a mask, this lotion is a true staple among makeup artists and once you have tried it, you will keep re-purchasing.

It is cheap (at least when you buy it in France), leaves the skin smooth, hydrated and not greasy.

3. Biafine

In the summer, every French family buys this product and lashes it on as an after sun when they come back from the beach.

Originally a burn treatment, this ultra-rich lotion soothes dehydrated skins and of course, sunburns. Do not use it as a moisturiser during the summer however as it doesn't contain an SPF.

4. Avène TriAcnéal

If you suffer from acne, this inexpensive treatment might be the answer to your prayers.

With anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties, it helps getting rid of stubborn blemishes in just a few weeks and reduces the appearance of marks and scars.

5. Sanoflore Aqua Magnifica

Developed for combination to oily skin, this toner purifies the skin and helps reduce imperfections. Use it after cleansing your skin: you won't believe what is left on your cotton pad…

Made with 100% natural ingredients, it also tightens pores and boosts radiance. What's not to like?

6. Nuxe Rêve de Miel

Formulated with honey, rich essential oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence, it repairs, soothes and protects your dry lips.

Use it before bed for an overnight treatment, or under your lipstick to give your lips some needed moisture. Also, did we mention the smell?
