Bono is facing surgery following a bike fall in Central Park in New York yesterday.

The U2 star has injured his arm and it seems the incident was bad enough that the band have been forced to cancel their week-long residency on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

The gig was supposed to begin Monday but U2 have taken to their website to confirm the disappointing news: “It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.”

Sounds like a nasty fall if he isn’t able to perform – get better soon Bono!

It has been revealed that Bono and four of his friends were ‘extremely lucky’ to avoid crashing yesterday after one of the doors fell off the plane they were travelling in, mid flight.

The private jet, which was carrying the U2 frontman, was making its way from Dublin to Berlin when the freak accident occurred.  Sources have said: “They were at an altitude where anything could have happened and they are all feeling very lucky to be alive.”

Commenting on the shocking accident, Germout Freitag, a German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation official said: “There can be many reasons for this incident. Either something broke on the door or the door wasn't closed properly. Those are the usual problems that occur."

Thankfully no one was injured, but the same can’t be said for the passengers’ luggage which fell out during the incident and it’s unknown whether it landed over water or land, but latest reports have suggested that a piece of the airplane had landed near the German capital.

Bono’s bandmates, Larry, Adam and The Edge were not on board this flight as Bono had made the decision to fly ahead of them in order to attend a diplomatic event.

What a terrifying thing to happen!

It’s great to be ambitious and creative and all those things, but we really think it’s about time Bono just stuck to the music. When will he just leave the politics to the politicians, and the films to the film makers?!

The U2 frontman is penning a script with none other than Liam Neeson. Apparently they’ve been working on it for the last six years, so we’re very interested to see what they’ve come up with in all that time.

The film will be set in Ireland in the 1970s and focuses on the showbands around that time – so we can see where Bono comes in, what with the music and all that.

We wonder if his big fat check of €100million from Apple will speed things along too?! Time will tell!

You’d think that having a rock-star dad would fill you with envy of their singing abilities, but Eve Hewson is DE-lighted she can’t sing like her dad!

The 23-year-old actress said: “Thank God, I can’t sing because that would be a lot of pressure. It’s nice doing something that’s my own passion.”

Instead, Eve has her heart set on Broadway, and working with the likes of playwright Martin McDonagh:

“I love New York and theatre. I love Martin McDonagh. If he’s doing a movie or a play, I want to be involved with it.”

We can’t imagine Eve will have a hard time making contact with Martin McDonagh, Bono is sure to have a few contacts that will come in handy for her career! Not that she needs her dad’s help – the young star is already in a list by Variety magazine of the top ten actors to watch out for in 2014, and she was even on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon!

With that kind of success at 23-years-old, who cares if you can sing?!

Eve Hewson (aka Bono’s daughter) is the third most searched Irish actress on IMDB’s STARmeter. According to IMDB’s Managing Editor Keith Simanton, Eve’s popularity is down to her role in US TV series The Knick, which is about a hospital in New York in 1900.

“There is a lot of buzz around The Knick. The show has also already been renewed for a second season by Cinemax without even having debuted here in the States. “There is also the fact that she’s Bono’s daughter, so people looking up the famous U2 frontman may also find her page from his.”

Saoirse Ronan is holding onto the top spot for now, though by the sounds of Eve’s rising fame, we’re not sure how long she’ll be sitting at number three!

Bono’s been kissing a lady and it’s not his wife!

But don’t worry, it was just for laughs with the hilarious Amy Poehler at last night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Amy leaned in for a kiss with the U2 front man after being announced as the winner of her first ever Golden Globe for best actress in a TV musical or comedy for her role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation.

Grabbing Bono for the quick and friendly smooch, Amy took to the stage to admit her surprise at her win saying: “I never win, so I can’t believe I won”.

Bono’s wife, Ally Hewson was seen sitting beside Bono as Amy pulled the stunt and seemed more than happy to laugh along at the joke.

Hmm, we’re not sure about you, but we think Ally could definitely take her. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!

Naomie Harris looked stunning in green as she posed alongside Idris Elba at the 25th Palm Springs International Film Festival. The pair were at the event for their new movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

U2’s Bono, who was friends with the former president, was joined by The Edge as they discussed the movie with Naomie and Idris. We would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation.

The movie follows the life of the late Nelson Mandela and the struggle for race equality in South Africa. The actress and the actor looked very comfortable as they took part in a Q&A at the cinematic event.

Both stars donned more formal attires on Sunday night for the festival’s Award Gala. Harris’ white lace, floor length gown matched Idris’ black suit down to a tee.

They look like the perfect couple, although we’re not sure Kim Elba would agree with us.
