A woman has been arrested following the discovery of a man’s body in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, in the early hours of this morning.

The body of a man believed to have been in his early forties was found at a residential property at The Maltings in the Tipperary town shortly after 2.30am.

Early reports suggest that the man had been stabbed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman – who is also in her forties – is currently being held at Nenagh Garda Station.

The scene has been sealed off for a forensic examination.

Five people have been confirmed dead and more than fifty injured after a tram derailed and overturned in south London this morning.

The incident occurred in a tunnel near the Sandilands tram stop near Croydon shortly after 6am.

British Transport Police arrested the two-carriage vehicle’s driver after emergency services were forced to free several people from the tram.

Dozens were rushed to local hospitals, some with serious injuries.

A man in his 60s has died after being stabbed in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The incident occurred at Robinson’s Court near Cork Street in the south of the city at around 2.30pm.

The man was taken by ambulance to St James’ Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are investigating the incident and the scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses who may have been in the Robinson’s Court area this afternoon to contact them at Kevin Street Garda Station on 01 666 9400, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardaí are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were discovered at a property in County Mayo this afternoon.

The body of a woman in her mid 60s and a man in his late 70s were found near Irishtown, Claremorris, at around 3pm today after a family acquaintance raised the alarm.

The deceased are believed to have been married and were well known in the local area.

A man in his 30s was found with serious injuries nearby.

He was taken to University Hospital Galway and his condition is currently unknown.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Pete Burns has died at the age of 57 after suffering from a massive heart attack.

He died yesterday and a statement today from his management has confirmed the singer's sad passing. 

“It is with the greatest sadness that we have to break the tragic news that out beloved Pete Burns of (Dead Or Alive), died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest.

“All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star.

“He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories the has left is with.

“We have no more words, we will make a further statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss

“He will live forever in our memories

“Sending you all our love. Lynne, Michael, Steve."

Mr Burns hailed from Wirral, Merseyside, and found fame after establishing the band Dead Or Alive in 1980. In more recent years, he went on to feature on several reality television shows.

His appearance was drastically altered via plastic surgery procedures – which he himself numbered at around 300 in total. Shockingly, some 200 of those surgeries are believed to have taken place over just a two year period.

16 people have been taken to hospital after a United Airlines flight from Houston to London Heathrow was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon this morning.

The Boeing 767-300 jet – which was diverted after experiencing “severe and unexpected” turbulence – was met by ambulance paramedics upon landing at the Clare airport shortly before 6am.

According to RTÉ News, 14 passengers and two members of cabin crew staff were taken to University Hospital Limerick with minor injuries.

The airline is providing relevant care and support for those involved.

Flight UA-880 had been carrying 207 passengers and 13 crew members.

German anti-terror police are reportedly preparing to storm a restaurant in the city of Saarbruecken after an armed man barricaded himself inside the venue.

According to the Daily Mail, officers were called to the scene when it was reported there was a blood-covered man inside the restaurant.

RT has reported that the man ordered the restaurant’s staff to leave the facility and took no hostages.

Police negotiators and psychologists are trying to make contact with the man.

A heavily armed counter-terrorism unit has gathered in the area.

Saarbruecken (Saarbrücken) is situated in west Germany and is located near the French-German border.

At least one person is believed to have died and “multiple victims” have been reported in separate shooting incidents in Austin, Texas this morning.

Austin Police Department raised the alarm with a series of tweets warning locals to “stay away from downtown” because an “active shooter incident” was underway.

They reported that “separate shootings within the same area” were occurring.

According to ABC News, the location of the shooter or shooters is still unknown.

The Sun has reported that a woman in her thirties has died as a result of the incident which occurred around 3am local time in the Sixth Street entertainment district.

Reports suggest that two other women and one man were also injured in the attack.

Three police officers have reportedly been confirmed dead after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this afternoon.

Emerging reports suggest that seven police officers were shot in total near the Airline Highway in East Baton Rouge.

The Irish Examiner has reported that a manhunt has commenced in the area as one shooter is still on the run, while another has already been shot.

One eyewitness claimed the suspect is heavily armed.

According to the Sunday World, around 20 police officers wearing bulletproof vests are currently at the scene of the shooting which is now under investigation.

Earlier this month a man was shot dead by police officers five miles from the location of today’s shooting.

France has once again been struck by tragedy; as the nation celebrates Bastille Day – a truck has ploughed into a crowd of people, killing at least dozens.

Horrific images showing bodies lying on the side of the road in the city of Nice are now flooding social media.

The incident is being treated as a suspected terrorist incident by French authorities, who have not yet formally identified the perpetrators of the attack. 

Numerous people have also been injured – with many more fleeing the scene in panic. 

France is still under a State Of Emergency following last year's brutal attacks on Paris, when almost 150 people were murdered by those loyal to Islamic State and Al-Qaeda.

German newspaper Bild is now reporting that a heavily armed man has recently entered a cinema in west Germany.

It is believed that shortly after arriving on the scene in the city of Viernheim near Frankfurt, he began firing his weapon.

He may have also taken several hostages, reports The Telegraph citing local news sources. 

Local media is furthermore reporting that up to 50 people have been injured – with half of those supposedly sporting injuries from tear gas.

Police are at the scene.

An Irish soccer fan attending the Euro 2016 tournament has died in Nice.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland supporter fell 8-metres from a promenade on to a stony beach below and later died from his injuries. A local official later confirmed the man been climbing a sea-front railing shortly before his death.

A police spokesman at the city added that the incident took place yesterday.

"Many fans were out on the promenade, and were drinking heavily when the man fell from the promenade.

"The victim was taken to Nice hospital but has since died," the spokesman said. 

The identity of the young man has not yet been released.

About 10,000 fans from Northern Ireland are in France for the competition.
