We've all had our fair share of beauty blunders in our day, but these stories really are the worst.
From burning to peeling, hospital treatments and stitches; brace yourself…
Eyebrow razors are NOT a good thing
A 14-year-old who just wanted to groom her eyebrows, later found herself in a hospital room needing stitches after using eyebrow razors – but the device didn't have the usual safety guard installed on to them.
"When packaged there are few differences between the safe and unsafe eyebrow razors, making it difficult for consumers to establish if they have bought a product that could be unsafe," a spokesman said from Derby City Council (a trading standards council in the UK).
"I urge online shoppers to be vigilant and read customer reviews and feedback."
We'll stick to tweezers, thanks.
DIY tattoo removal kits… really?
Yep, as utterly scary as a DIY tattoo removal kit sounds, some people are buying them online. The kits contain TCA, a corrosive material that, you guessed it, burns off the skin. A 23-year-old in the UK bought a kit, only to be left with horrendous burns and a hole in her arm. OUCH!
"It felt like someone had poured something flammable on my arm, lit it, and then poured a kettle on it," she said.
Dry Shampoo overload
There has been many warnings about the overuse of dry shampoo… but this is horrifiying! One woman began to make using dry shampoo a daily habit – until she started noticing some worrying side effects.
"Over time, I developed a red, scaly rash around my hairline, which I put down to stress," she told the Daily Mail.
"Then, one day my mum spotted a bald patch at the back of my head, which horrified me. My hair had started to feel dry and brittle and fall out."
Henna Horror
A 16-year-old teenager went on holiday to Turkey and got a dreamcatcher henna tattoo on her leg.
Within a few days, it began to scab with a painful burn as the synthetic black dye that was used contained a substance that was NOT regulated by the European Union. The girl was left with permanent scarring.
Scary eyebrow mishap
19-year-old Polly, hoped to achieve Cara-worthy brows, but upon getting a tint, wax and thread treatment at the salon, she was left horrified with the results. Just hours after her appointment, her brows became red and itchy.
When she woke up the next morning though she could barely open her eyes. In the end, it caused intense scabbing that doctors said could cause permanent scarring.
