Au revoir  Paris!

The Kimye wedding festivities have taken flight as the couple and their hundreds of guests have touched down in Italy for the hotly- anticipated ceremony.

The pair are set to say ‘I do’ at Florence’s Forte di Belvedere around 6pm tonight at their star-studded ceremony.

Kim and Kanye will apparently take their vows in front of a giant wall of white flowers, similar to the one Kanye got his soon-to-be-wife for Mother’s Day.

Kanye was spotted stepping off the private jet at the airport in Florence a couple of hours ago, shortly after Bruce Jenner and Scott Disick landed.

Kylie Jenner’s rumoured boyfriend Jaden Smith was one of the many celebrity guests who flew into Florence for the big day.

While Brody Jenner is reportedly boycotting the wedding, his brother Brandon and wife Leah posted a romantic snap on Instagram en route to Florence earlier.

While everything seemed to on track, reports are coming in that catastrophe has struck with the wedding cake, which apparently toppled over on the drive to the airport in Paris!

The cake was said to be seven tiers and about six feet tall.

Let’s just hope they have a back-up on board then!

This gluten-free chocolate cake is rich and dense  and you only really need a small slice that’s of course,  if you can resist!

What you’ll need:

  • 400g good-quality dark chocolate
  • 320g light brown sugar
  • 260g butter
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • Espresso shot (optional)

What you’ll need to do:

  1. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a bowl set over a saucepan of previously boiled simmering water.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool and stir in the sugar and egg yolks, stirring swiftly so the yolks don’t set. Add the coffee at this stage if using.
  3. Fold in the egg whites slowly until they are fully incorporated.
  4. Pour into cake pan and bake for about an hour until the outside is set and cracked in the middle.
  5. Unfortunately, this cake is too dense for a wooden skewer test. The cake should look firm but with a very slight jiggle.

Jennifer Aniston seems to be the latest star to undergo a make under and look unrecognisable as a result.

However, the reason the actress has gone so barefaced was for her new role in the film, Cake.

The 45-year-old actress definitely doesn’t look like her usual glamorous self in the film, as the actress is seen wearing baggy beige pants, long jumper and a t-shirt.

Aniston plays Claire, a woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of a woman in her chronic pain support group.

Singer Fergie was reminded of what a, erm, beef cake her hubby is with a specially-made birthday surprise.

The Black Eyes Peas singer’s friends gave her a cake sporting a picture of her shirtless other half Josh Duhamel  41, to celebrate her 39th birthday yesterday.

The cake had pink icing with fondant roses and ‘Happy Birthday Fergie’ written across the bottom.

In the centre was a picture of Josh from his 2004 film Win A Date With Tad Hamilton, in which a small-town girl, played by Kate Bosworth, falls in love with a movie star – played by Josh.

We wonder if Josh still looks as good without a shirt on now he’s 10 years older.

Fergie posted a picture of the sweet treat to her Instagram page saying, “Thank u @bcompleted, @vveronicarodriguez, @aamarirose & @marissaleaaa for my dope bday cake!!!!! LOL #tadhamilton.”

There is something about macaroons that delight us ladies. It might be the colours, the light taste or the delicate appearance. Either way, we can’t get enough!

Macaroons also have a reputation for being very difficult to make. While they are no mugcake, they really aren’t that bad and with some practice, you’ll be a macaroon connoisseur in no time!

Why not impress your girls and make them some macaroons?

What you’ll need:

For the shells

  • 130g icing sugar
  • 115g caster sugar
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 120g ground almonds
  • pinch of salt
  • Food colouring of your choice (be sparing!)

For the filling

  • Butter
  • Icing sugar

What you’ll need to do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Sieve the icing sugar and almonds into a large bowl.
  3. Using a mixer, whiz the egg whites, caster sugar and salt until the mixture forms stiff peaks.
  4. Add any food colouring you are using.
  5. Slowly and steadily, fold the almond and sugar mixture into the egg whites. This should take a while if you are working slowly enough.
  6. Place the mixture into a pipe and create consistent, small, round shapes onto the baking tray.
  7. Bang the tray once on the counter to settle the macaroons.
  8. Leave the macaroons at room temperature for 15-20mins.
  9. Bake for 15-20mins.
  10. Combine the butter and icing sugar to make the butter-cream and spread it in between each macaroon once they are cooled.

Thanks to a new medical discovery, dieters could soon enjoy their cake in a guilt-free way.

UK scientist found that adding seaweed extract to cakes and foods prevents fat from being broken down and absorbed by the body.

This means, eating foods that have seaweed extracts could help you shed a few pounds.

Researcher Dr Matthew Wilcox said: “Normally, between 95 and 100 per cent of all the food eaten is broken down and absorbed. If you don’t absorb as much fat, then hopefully you can lose weight.”

Tests showed that seaweed extracts stopped nearly three-quarters of the fat in food from being digested into small enough pieces to be absorbed – that’s pretty impressive!

Although seaweed cake doesn’t sound very appealing, the majority of volunteers who ate bread with alginate – a powder made from seaweed – found that it tasted much nicer than normal bread.

If ‘alginate bread’ tastes much nicer than normal bread, can you imagine what alginate cake tastes like? Yum!
