Robbie Williams has been forced to cancel a number of Russian tour dates due to what he describes as “very worrying” test results.

Speaking in a video diary uploaded to YouTube yesterday, the singer revealed that he had been recovering from an undisclosed illness for the past five weeks.

He went on to explain how despite desperately wanting to power through and finish his recent tour, a stint in ICU meant he had no choice but to cut it short.

"Unfortunately that illness kicked in just at the end of my tour, a tour which was going so well. Audiences were incredible, I was OK, the band were amazing and I was soldier and needed to finish that tour.”

He continued: “Then I got some test results and they were very worrying.”

The 43-year-old has not cancelled a performance due to bad health since 1998 and ensured fans that it was not a decision he took lightly.

“If I can't do it then there's something going on.”

“Russia, I love you and I can't wait to come down and do the gigs at some point and sing Party Like a Russian with you,” he said.

The Angels singer concluded the video by thanking fans for their positivity, adding how he “can't wait to get back to work.”

Fans having taken to Twitter in their droves to wish Robbie a speedy recovery.
