cara delevigne

Cara Delevigne has been enjoying a slightly quieter life since she hung up her model it-girl boots to focus on her acting career.

With nine movies and countless modelling gigs under her belt, no one could ever accuse the star of being afraid of hard work.

Unless you're a troll on Twitter, that is.

Now celebrities don't usually respond to online haters, but Cara decided that one troll in particular had gone too far.

On a tweet where Cara expressed her excitement at her volunteering position in Uganda, a hater commented that the model "can't cash in on her eyebrows forever," and advised her to seek a "real job."

Cara clapped back, telling the troll that her volunteer work had absolutely nothing to do with her looks.

"You are just a another thirsty man who puts people down for attention on twitter and who thinks that looks are all that's important," retorted the model.

"I have no time no another man trying to tear down a woman for being successful."

*mic drop*

Cara also responded to him personally in a series of reply tweets, in which the hater asked Cara: "Do you not know who I am? I've had a very successful career I think I know what I'm talking about."

Errrrr, okay, if you say so. Cara explained that she didn't know who he was and that his unsolicited advice was less than appreciated.

"Well I am very famous so maybe you should update yourself on celeb culture. Anyway, I tried to help. Whatever," said the troll, who has 11,000 followers compared to Cara's 7.47 million.

The hater, named Brad "the Lad" Long, who claims to be a "media personality and showbiz journalist "who is "most famous for telling it like it is," did not relent his criticisms.

Cara then proceeded to ignore him while tweeting images of her volunteering experiences in Uganda.

You go girl.

I’ll admit, I’m basically always on the prowl for outfit inspo.

Whether it’s in the office, out on the streets of Dublin or online, if I see pieces I like, I’ll immediately start thinking how I can make it work for me.

And while my main source of inspiration is definitely people I see walking by in town, another major source is famous folk.

Let’s be real, I can’t dress like a star everyday. Hell, I don’t feel like getting dressed at all some days.

But when it comes down to it, how easy is it to dress like a celeb? Can I pull off the same looks that they do? Will it cost much and will I be comfortable?

These are all questions I’m asking myself as I take on the task of Dressing Like A Celeb.

So, to get to it, this week I decided to dress like Cara Delevingne and this is how I got on.

Now, I’m not saying I have her body (obvs) and it feels like I’m a full person shorter than her, but I went for some outfits that, I think, looked totally UNREAL on her.

First of all, I decided to go for Cara’s looks in her new Puma campaign. Of course, she looks like an absolute beaut with rock hard abs…but would I look just as good? I tried it out.

OK, so no. Cara’s new take on sporty leggings/underwear just looks like I forgot to pull my trousers up (I also didn't have the balls to wear a crop top). While I love the River Island hoodie, and the Life Style Sports leggings are super comfy, trying to look like Cara did not work out well with this one.

And who am I kidding anyway, I go to the gym about… Never… I never go to the gym.

Cara – 1 / Me – 0

So, since the sporty look didn’t work out too well, for the next look I opted for something a bit more classy and covered-up.

It took a few tries but eventually I got the scarf where I needed it. I also put my hair up in two buns like Cara did.

Cara wore the black cut-out jumpsuit with a green tie around her waist. I wore a black top and trousers, both from River Island, and tried to wrap a green scarf around my waist.

I usually wouldn’t go for anything like this if I was going out myself, but I ended up LOVING this look.

At first, I feared I would look like a little green alien child but it actually turned out OK.

I’m super happy with this look and it's an outfit that would be really comfy on a night out too! Win, win.

Cara – 1 / Me – 1

Now, when I saw Cara wear the next outfit, for some reason I was totally drawn into it. It literally looked like she grabbed a Sharpie marker and drew a black line down her neck.

Something a three-year-old would do, yes, but when Cara did it, it was fierce.

I have no doubt that Cara had a team of make-up artists behind her on this one, so when I got my black marker out, I was shaking like a leaf.

What if it smudges? What if I make it look crooked? What if I get it on my boobs?!

I took a deep breath, and began. And it was graaand.

Cara wore a v-neck black dress, and I tried to match it with this River Island velvet number. I loved the dress, and thought it was very ‘Cara’ but I’ll pass on the big black line (and no bra). I think it makes me look like I have a bobble head – and that’s not attractive.

I’m not going to say this look totally worked, because it didn’t, but the dress was a good fit for me, and I’ll definitely be wearing it during party season.

Total: Cara – 1 ½ / Me – 1 ½

In the end, I realised that no, I can’t 100 percent dress like a celeb and get away with it. But, I have learned that if you just give an outfit your own little twist, you’re good to go.

This isn’t over yet, though. I’ll be on the prowl for more celebrity looks to steal. Watch this space.

Last week Cara Delevingne sent fans into overdrive when she shared a picture of herself wearing a sizable diamond on her ring finger.

And while she has yet to confirm if she’s actually engaged or not, the Suicide Squad star has been opening up about the love she has for her girlfriend of 16 months St Vincent.

In a new interview with British Vogue, the model said: “I'm completely in love… Before, I didn't know what love was – real love.”

“I didn't understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that's for yourself or for the world or your partner.”

Speaking on her sexual orientation, Cara said: “As a child, I used gay as a bad world, as in, 'that's so gay.' All my friends did.”

“I'm obviously in love, so if people want to say I'm gay, that's great. But we're all liquid – we change, we grow.”

One of the world's most recognisable models put her fame to good use this week as she was revealed as the face – and body – of the first ever 'I'm Not a Trophy Campaign'.

The campaign is being run by the I'm Not a Trophy organisation which aims to raise awareness of the fact that a variety of endangered species are still being hunted by poachers.

A series of six images were posted to the group's Instagram account yesterday which all show Cara posing with nothing but animal imagery covering her body.

Each of the images shows a different endangered animal and is branded with the words "I'm Not a Trophy".

The model – who is an ambassador for the animal rights group – was introduced to the organisation's founder Arno Elias through model friend Suki Waterhouse.

Cara told MarieClaire.com: "I was introduced to Arno’s work after falling in love with the images he did for my friend and fellow model Suki Waterhouse."

“Suki put us in touch, and before we knew it we were in Paris shooting together.”

The 23-year-old says she's passionate about animal rights and is honoured to be part of the campaign: "I'm extremely proud to act as inaugural ambassador for the first-ever, international I'm Not a Trophy campaign, a cause that not only benefits endangered species, but empowers women as well."

So not only does the Suicide Squad actress look the part, she genuinely believes in the campaign too.  Go Cara!

Last night, Cara Delevingne revealed that she suffers from depression in a heartfelt Twitter essay.

The 23-year-old shocked her fans when she appeared in a Saint Laurent campaign after everyone thought she quit the modelling business.

However, she reached out to her confused fans by opening up in very personal tweets.

"Can we just set the record straight," she began. "I never said I was quitting modelling. I do not blame the fashion industry for anything."

"I suffer from depression and was a model during a particularly rough patch of self hatred."

"I am so lucky for the work I get to do but I used to work to try and escape and just ended up completely exhausting myself," she explained.

"I am focusing on filming and trying to learn how to not pick apart my every flaw,' she concluded. 'I am really good at that. Okay…. Rant over. Just wanted to clarify and word vomit a little…"

She ended off her tweets with, "I never quit."

Cara and St Vincent are a gorgeous couple but we did not expect them to get so serious quite this soon.

The pair have only gone and sparked engagement rumours this week after being snapped wearing matching bejewelled rings on their wedding fingers.

This news comes after reports that the pair are currently planning to make a shared home for themselves in Paris, with St Vincent even spending a family Christmas day out with the Delevingne clan just last week.

While engagement rumours have been rife this week, the general consensus is that the pair are really donning commitment rings, rather than officially preparing for marriage

But either way, things are definitely getting serious.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source close to the pair revealed just how cosy they are getting.

"Their relationship has been very intense and things have moved along quickly but they feel they can face the pressure of moving in together."

"Cara is going to be in Paris for a stretch from January for [her next movie] Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets so they wanted somewhere to call home."

Well, we hope this is one celebrity couple that goes the distance.

So we know there are only two weeks left of autumn and therefore two weeks until the official start of winter (NOOO!),  but there is still plenty of time to incorporate the autumnal colour palette into your make up regime.

Sumptuous burnt oranges, leafy greens and deep, mahogany browns were all big beauty trends on this year's A/W catwalks.

You know what we’re talking about.

Here’s how you can embrace autumn on your face:

1. Autumn Flame

The trend: Burnt, smoky oranges are the perfect autumnal colours as seen here on the A/W 2015 catwalk for Hervé Léger . Don't be afraid to embrace these sultry tones across the face.

Make it work for you: Use a pigmented, bright orange across the eyelid (smoke out with a soft brown if it is too intense). Then take a soft coral toned blush across the cheeks and finish with a peachy hue on the lips for a look that ignites your features.

2. Autumn Forest

The trend: Forget the traditional smoky eye using black and grey tones and opt instead for warm brown hues.

Make it work for you: Use a beige eye shadow for the inner crease before using a deep mahogany shade across the entire outer eye area. Smoke this colour right out to the crease and underneath the lash line. Use a gold or honey shadow to bring the autumnal shade right up to the lash line. Keep the rest of the face matte and nude; finish with a brown eyeliner or mascara.

3. Autumn Leaves

The trend: Green might not be the first colour you think of when doing your eyeshadow but deep greens are really gorgeous in combination especially with sallow skin. Just as browns enhance a green eye, greens do the same for brown eyes.

Make it work for you: Use a soft brown tone on the lids and inner eye area before smoking out with a deep, forest green shade. Use a green liner to define the eyes and finish with a brown mascara.

Up until now, Jared Leto has stolen most of the limelight for his creepy Suicide Squad costume. He shocked the Internet with the scary Joker get-up and majorly morphed into someone we wouldn't even recognise.

Yes, it seems that no one could look more horrifying than Jared, but now Cara Delevingne stepped into the game and debuted her movie look last night.

Ms Delevingne – who plays Enchantress in the film – went through a HUGE make-over for the movie.

The first image of Cara in her supervillian look has just been unveiled on Empire's latest magazine cover… and let us tell you, it is truly something:

Basically the stuff of nightmares, Ms Delevingne is seen covered in a rusty grey hue, with black hair, terrifying make-up, chains and mysterious tattoos.

We don't know about you, but we think Suicide Squad is going to be one seriously freaky movie. We'll just have to wait and see what the other supervillians will look like now.

Buns are the perfect go-to style when you want to get your hair up and out of your face in seconds. And they're especially great when then weather isn't exactly hairstyle-friendly.

Sometimes though, the finished result can look a little, well, sloppy.

This can be a bother for many of us; all we want to know is the secret to a bun that's messy enough to be stylish but polished enough to be work-appropriate.

Well, the answer is teasing. Teasing your hair before putting it up on your head is a must-do step in your styling routine. It will make your bun look so much better.

Here's how to do it:

Divide your hair into two sections; top and bottom. You can secure the top with a clip while you follow the next step.

Tease the bottom section with a long tail comb, then secure it with bobby pins.

Twist the bottom section up to add a little bit of texture to your do'.

Next, smooth the top section of your hair with a cushion brush.

To finish, roll the top section of hair around the bottom section to create your bun and secure it tightly with bobby pins.

The teased bottom section adds support, ensuring that your style has both volume and stability!

We all know that Cara Delevingne is the reigning eyebrow queen, but the truth is that her power arches is simply NOT one-size-fits-all.

While it's obviously a natural look for the model, the bold and thick style doesn't work for all face shapes.

The best way to achieve a great brow for your face shape is to play up to what we were born with; but that isn't so easy after years of shaping, tweezing and waxing – some of us don't even remember what our natural arches look like.

Jog your memory

The easiest way to remember what your natural brow looks like is to look back on your pre-tweezing days. Find a picture of yourself from your early teens and that should give a good indication to what they looked like before.

Grow, grow, grow

We're afraid it's time to join brow rehab ladies! That means NO hair removal whatsoever for at least eight weeks. By eight weeks you will begin to see your natural brow line again. Growth serums are great if you want to speed up the process.

Tint it

Tinting can be a game changer, even if you have naturally dark hair. Sometimes your brows might look quite sparse, but the hair is actually just lighter in some places. Tinting is a great natural way to enhance what hair you have, as well as richen and define your brows.

Tweeze strays – conservatively

When your eyebrows finally get back to their original state, don't go crazy plucking away the strays.

Eyebrow guru, William Scott, told Marie Claire,  "It's very helpful to fill in your ideal eyebrow shape with pencil or powder first. Be sure to extend ends all the way across the brow bone when filling in—the ends are most important. This will give you a more clear idea of what should be tweezed and what should be left alone."

Choose the right powder

You've made it this far, so be sure to not sabotage your new know-how by selecting the wrong shade for your colouring.

"Choose a shade that is the same as your eyebrow hair color, not the hair on your head, as sometimes it is a different shade. If you have red hair, use a warm blonde. If you're blonde, use a taupe or soft, ash brown. Brunettes should use a medium brown and grey or silver foxes should use an ash brown or taupe."

Set everything with gel

Think of it as the mascara of the eyebrow. Gel not only adds colour, but also thickness and fullness to the brow hair. The hold the gel offers is excellent also so be sure to brush the product into the brow correctly.

Attention all shoppers:

If you can fly over to London any time soon, then you just might be able to get your hands on some Louis Vuitton – for absolutely nothing.

That's thanks to their Series 3 Exhibition, which opened last night and saw stars Selena Gomez, Michelle Williams, Alexa Chung and Poppy and Cara Delevingne on the guest list.

The real star of the night though, was a wall full of stickers – but these aren't your ordinary children's playbook stickers.

Each one is branded with a LV logo and features a designer bag or shoe.

These are the Vuitton goods that are up for free, but the exhibition is quite strict on handing them out and only two stickers can be given to one person.

So if you have any free time between now and October 18, fly over and raid their free-for-all wall.

After all, if you can't afford a real speedy, a giant sticker one will have to do!

As the unveiling of any totally OTT festive perfume confirms – fragrance trends are big business.

Yup, everything from your eyebrows to your Saint Laurent snake-effect leather ankle boots can be on fleek but it won’t mean a tap if you also don’t smell right.

At least your jewellery can help out; sweet-smelling accessories are now very much a thing.

Leading the pack is most definitely David Yurman – which has just released its Bubblegum Pinky Collection: a series of oh-so cool rings complete with a choice of bubblegum, grape, peppermint, licorice, or candy floss aromas.

It already has a load of celeb fans – including Rita Ora, who just weeks ago was gushing about the range on social media – and stylists are clamouring over one another to get their hands on one of the pieces.

Obsessed with these #bubblegumpinky rings! Thank you @davidyurman

But it's not just David Yurman. Fellow designers such as Kilian Hennessy (a Frenchman with distinctly Irish roots – he’s part of the Hennessy cognac dynasty) are driving the trend into 2016 too.

Kilian, who launched his perfume house in 2007, recently introduced an art deco Lights And Reflections collection. Included are chunky rings that contain subtle ceramic cubes ready to be sprayed with any of his signature 35 scents.

Jade Trau (Cara Delevingne is a big fan) has created an oversized locket ring fitted with solid perfume inside, and last year, new brand OBO Paris launched its “wearable and leak-proof bottle of perfume,” – 3mls of fragrance to carry around with you in one of its rings, bracelets or necklaces.

It's pretty AND it's filled with solid perfume to help navigate the lovely odors of steamy hot NYC days ohhhh…gotta…

Posted by Jade Trau on Wednesday, 8 July 2015

The Parisian designer behind the brand, 30-year-old Julien Cohen, said at the time of the unveiling that he “wanted to make a beautiful accessory that can perfume your skin”.

Meanwhile, Lisa Hoffman, wife of actor Dustin, has also released fragrance within jewellery via her Lisa Hoffman Beauty brand.

And rather than apply fragrance directly to your skin, this range – which counts Amber Heard and Halle Berry among its many Hollywood fans – instead uses tiny fragrance beads which are housed inside charms.

“Our fragrance beads are eco-friendly and made from the highest standard of pure perfume,” she says on her website.

“Each piece of jewellery comes with refillable fragrance beads so you can easily refresh the scent in your charm.”
