Caroline Flack

Well, it's that time of the year again.

The moment where the sun comes out and all common sense retires, as you sit back on the couch and watch people in minimal clothing pretend to love each other.

Yep...Love Island is back. The fifth season is set to be bigger than ever, with an expanded villa and more twists up Caroline Flack's sleeve.

It's too hot to be wearing sleeves in Spain but you know what I mean.

The reality television show places young, attractive people who are 'unlucky-in-love'/massive players/lacking self-esteem/want money or attention into a house and they must find romance to win the £50,000 prize for best couple.

Now, this was my first Love Island viewing, and at first I was in a state of shock.

Then, as my IQ lowered, I could feel myself getting hooked on it. However, one thing kept annoying me and apparently the entire nation agrees: Lucie trying to make 'bev' happen as a word.

The 21-year-old surfer from Newquay who professed to wanting 'a dude' (vague, much?) and then did not pick a 'dude', continuously used the phrases 'a bev', 'bevvy', 'bevs', 'your bev', 'my bev' roughly 209347412 times.

It was honestly exhausting and I lost count fairly quickly of how many times she said it.

Here's what Twitter had to say. Trust me, they had a LOT to get off their chests.

What Lucie thinks a 'bev' is versus the rest of the UK is quite different…

"‘Lucie, are you here to find love?'

‘Nah, I just wanna make a Primark tee slogan, init bev.'

'When Lucie keeps saying Bev or Bevy'.

Of course, there was the Mean Girls reference: "Lucie. Stop trying to make 'bevs' happen. It's not going to happen."

Listen to Regina George, gal. She's got wisdom.

"No one:

Absolutely no one:

Not a soul:

Lucie: 'haha i love BEVS you look BEVVY you BEVVY BEV boy.'"

The state of frustration was too much for some people:

To be honest, what else were they expecting?

Remember, Irish viewers need to support our homegirl and resident brain of the house Yewande.

She's been receiving racial abuse since it was announced that she was entering the house, and it's NOT ON. She was also picked last and her beauty is being underappreciated, okay? Help a sis out.

It's that time of the year again…the point in the summer where you become absolutely glued to Love Island and obsessive over these reality TV relationships that are most likely staged.

The hit show is back for its fifth season, and its set to become the biggest event of the summer. It succeeds in garnering a huge fanbase who follow the originals like the plague.

We've been dying to see who this years' group of contestants are, and Love Island have finally released their full cast. They're as attention-loving as ever;

This year has already seen controversy surrounding the show itself, as two former contestants have died by suicide and other participants have criticised the show for not supporting them after they left the villa.

The islanders find themselves instantly famous after the series airs, and they become the subject of intense media scrutiny and social media conversations.

The show has now said it will provide therapy sessions for the contestants, and will take more care over their mental health. So who are these brand new faces entering the luxury Mallorcan villa?

Host Caroline Flack will once again welcome the contestants to their Spanish paradise, and Iain Stirling will continue his hilarious duties as the show narrator.

The Islanders must couple up to secure their their place in the villa, and the singletons are at risk of being dumped from the villa. Loyalties will be tested, no doubt, with some unexpected twists on the way.

They're kicking season five off with seven guys and five ladies, so one of those boys will have to graft their ass off to save themselves. The public will once again decide their favourite couple, who walk away with a huge cash prize.

Who is this years' Irish interest? 23-year-old Dubliner Yewanda Biala, who is also a scientist.

Next up, it's Lucie Donlan. 21-year-old Lucie is a surfer from Newquay…will she catch waves or catch a boyfriend?

Girl #4: Amber Gill. The 21-year-old beauty therapist from Newcastle is used to getting what she wants, and is big on the Geordie party scene.

Last but not least for the ladies: Amy Hart. The 26-year-old is from Worthing, Essex, and works as am air hostess and cabin crew manager

First up for the boys (they're quite the cocky bunch) is Tommy Fury. The 20-year-old boxer from Manchester is Tyson Fury's younger bro, and rates himself as a 10.

Secondly, 22-year-old Joe Garratt from South East London. Joe works as a catering company owner, and those curls are going to get the ladies going.

The third boy on the list is Anton Danyluk. The 24-year old is a gym owner from Airdrie, Scotland.

Fourth on the list is a firefighter, Michael Griffiths. The Scouser from Liverpool is 27-years-old, and calls himself a hero.

Number five for the lads is Callum MacLeod. He's a 28-years-old aircraft engineer from South Wales.

We can't forget about Curtis Pritchard, brother of Dancing With The Stars' AJ Pritchard. He's 23 from Shropshire, and is a ballroom and Latin dancer.

He's already used to being on reality television, which is an advantage, but can he waltz his way to victory?

Last but not least: 20-year-old Sherif Lanre from London. Lanre works as both a chef and semi-pro rugby player…we love versatility.

We genuinely thought that reality television stars in this day and age earned their fare share of cash, otherwise why are they so hell-bent on staying relevant?

Apparently not this year. According to The Daily Star, the stars of 2019's Love Island will be paid just £250 a week this summer. That's not even minimum wage, so it's fairly surprising.

Thousands of young men and women have applied to appear on the ITV2 show this year, despite the recent suicides of ex-contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon.

The winners of the cash prize receive £50,000… which is quite the step up from their weekly wages. Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham won the competition last year, and earned plenty more through sponsorships and appearances,

However, some past contestants claim the show fails to properly prepare the participants for the difficulties of appearing in public and on social media.

Mental health struggles, trolling and depression have been raised as issues which the series allegedly contributes to. Many who made the final line-up have quit their jobs or been granted extended leave to join the Spanish villa, but is it worth it?

The Daily Star have affirmed that the ITV bosses are paying the islanders just £250 a week to  “compensate” for giving up time to be on the show. If they last the entire eight weeks, they bag £2,000, which isn't much.

The majority of contestants only last a couple of days, and get just £250 as a result. One source said: “Everyone now knows that stepping into that villa brings good and bad things.

“They risk coming out and being trolled on Twitter, their dreams of being a big reality star dashed, work dries up and ending up feeling depressed and having issues.”

Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Pritchard's brother, Curtis, has just been announced for the 2019 line-up. The 23-year-old is already a fan favourite, so time will tell whether he becomes one of the 'originals'.

Love Island has faced numerous complaints from body confidence advocates, who point out the show's lack of diversity when it comes to body shapes and sizes.

The smash hit ITV2 reality show has been under pressure over the course of four seasons to include a wider range of body types, and it seems the bosses have finally taken some action.

The Cupid-style show has reportedly cast plus-sized model and mental health advocate Jada Sezer for the upcoming fifth season.

The 30-year-old health campaigner already has achievements under her belt, as the first plus-size model to walk at London Fashion Week.

She's set to join Tyson Fury's baby bro Tommy in the Spanish villa when the show kicks off on June 3. An inside source spoke to The Sun about the diversity issues which the show has promoted:

"Previous years have been criticised for a lack of diversity among contestants. This year producers are determined to have more variation among the Islanders."

"Jada would be a perfect choice because she is passionate about body positivity- and even appeared on Good Morning Britain in her underwear before running the marathon," they continued.

The stunning size 16 model encourages people to adore their bodies on her podcast, dismissing the idea that a career should be based around your weight.

"This is my natural weight and I’ve been able to make a career from it. If I was to stop liking cake and lost weight then I would probably lose clients because when you get down to a size 14/12 it can be harder to get jobs."

Love Island features contestants with identical, gym-obsessed physiques, which can often lead to controversy given their audience of young women and girls.

The casting announcement has arrived just after an insider revealed that the show will see more variety in terms of the islanders' bodies.

"With everything that’s happened, bosses know that the show will be under intense scrutiny this year so they’ve gone back to see what it is the viewers want, and if there’s anything they can do to make it better."

They continued: "One thing that keeps coming up is the lack of body shape diversity. Viewers want to see girls and boys with bodies they can relate to. Sexy singles come in all shapes and sizes and this is what the viewers will see this year. It’s a really positive move."

The ITV2 series is also bringing in new measures to protect the mental health of contestants after they leave the villa. This was seemingly as a result of the suicides of two former Love Island stars; Mike Thallasitis and Sophie Gradon.

Other names on the love list for this years' show include; Rochelle Humes' sister Soph Piper, AJ Pritchard's brother Curtis, Big Brother star Lotan Carter, Ted Pullin, Sav Berry, and American model Delilah Belle Hamlin.

The Love Island UK Twitter account spilled the saucy secret, after presenter Caroline Flack revealed earlier in the month that she had begun filming for the ITV show and would soon be meeting the new stars.

"What’s really exciting about this week is that we start filming for Love Island 2019," she divulged to her followers on Instagram.

"And by the end of the week I’m going to have potentially seen the cast for this year, which is really exciting and mad that it’s come around this quick."

She continued, "So I’ll let you know what happens, it’s going to be a long, hot summer and all that." There's only about three weeks to go until the show prep begins.

During a workout, she added, "I’ve just trained with Bradley Simmons, he put me through utter hell. Making me do weights I should not be lifting, but he says we’ve only got three weeks before Love Island starts, so we’ve got to work hard."

We'll have to work hard to wait another 26 days for the next season's debut. Fingers crossed the producers reveal who the cast are soon enough, we're DYING to see them.

It's no secret – the Love Island couples are dropping like flies.

So much so that the only couple still going strong are the 2018 champions, Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham.

There has been three break ups this month – Megan and Wes, Josh and Kaz and Zara and Adam.

So WTF is going on?

Well, who would know better than Caroline Flack aka host of the ITV show?

On the red carpet at the BRIT awards she told Cosmopolitan UK why she thinks these couples aren't feeling the love anymore.

She said, ''It's break-up season. You have the three month itch, then the seven month itch. There we go!"

So it has nothing to do with Love Island itself and more just a case regular relationship stuff.

She was shocked by one split though, more so then the others.

She said, ''I was surprised about Zara and Adam, I'm secretly hoping they're going to get back together.''

Montana Brown, contestant on the 2017 series, also gave her opinion a sto why the couples are calling it a day.

She said, ''They’re all really young and at the start of their career. It’s really hard to grow with somebody when you’re in the limelight dealing with all this extra attention.''

She continued, ''You develop trust issues as soon as you leave Love Island and get this automatic anxiety, almost, because you’re not used to it. You’re in such a bubble when you’re there, you don’t realise how big the show is then suddenly it’s all photos, you’ve got to be media trained and watch what you say all the time, who you’re with and watch where you’re going.''

Sounds like a nightmare to us – fair play to those that stand the test of time – wonder will Dani and Jack stick it out?

“Work takes away my anxiety, doing live TV takes away anything else. Being on stage I’m less nervous than just being me.”

In an attempt to ease her mind, the presenter has found comfort in hypnotherapy sessions.

Caroline's sessions are an important part of her regime before she hits the West End stage.

The 39-year-old recently made her debut in theatre in Chicago and credited the hypnotherapy for keeping her head in a good place.

“When I had eight days to learn the role I went to see him and he put my mind in the right place,” she said.

“Everyone’s different, if I’m going through a bit of a tough time I can just call him and say, ‘hey can I come over and see you?'”

She is the TV presenter who hosted the X Factor alongside Olly Murs, lifted the glitter ball trophy on Strictly and is the face of one of the hottest shows in summer – Love Island.

Yet the 39-year-old has now spoken out about how things behind her glitzy showbiz life were quite bleak.

It's been three years since she first began suffering with depression and now she says that during that time, panic attacks and relying on anti-depressants were the norm.

She says, “It all started the day after I won Strictly. I woke up and felt like somebody had covered my body in cling film. I couldn't get up and just couldn't pick myself up at all that next year. I felt ridiculous, being so sad when I’d just won the biggest show on telly and had such an amazing job.''

Anti-depressants came to her rescue, but while they helped her in some ways, they also made her feel numb in others.

She had a panic attack in her dressing room moments before going live on The X Factor – but she didn't tell her family, friends or boss Simon Cowell about it.

She reveals, “I didn’t want to be a burden. It was a really lonely place. While anti-depressants can work for some people, I became a little too reliant on them – if you forget to take one, you feel awful.''

It didn't help that her and Olly's hosting skills on the 2015 X Factor were slammed week in, week out.

She was fat-shamed and ridiculed and says that she felt like a joke.

She added, ''I could have walked on water one week and been told I couldn't swim. As much as I would put on a happy face, backstage I’d be in tears with my make-up artist.”

While her professional life is on the up, this year her personal life has been quite dramatic.

She has been in an on/off romance with Apprentice contestant Andrew Brady, whom she got engaged to three months after meeting in January, but split soon after.

She says, “We have a very passionate, raw love but at the minute we just need to look after ourselves. We need to be happy in ourselves before we can be together, I think – and that’s what we’re doing. I think we want the best for each other.”

She is happy as she is and 2019 looks set to be a busy year for her with the Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas special, the filmed the Love Island Christmas show and making her West End debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

She is a fighter and we know that she is going to be just fine.

Poor Caroline Flack.

Not only is the end of her engagement being strewn across the press with seemingly EVERYONE having a say about it, but now the reason behind the split has been made public.

And it's not good.

While Caroline was reeling from the sudden break up, her new ex-fiance was sitting in a meeting with the producers of Celebs Go Dating. Unbelievable.

According to The Mirror, just one day after they parted ways, she posted to her Facebook page calling out Andrew for his shady behaviour.

She wrote, ''when you find out your fiancé had been planning a meeting to go on Celebs Go Dating, and has the meeting the day AFTER you break up. In utter shock. Kill me now."

We can actually feel her heartbreak through that post.

It was reported by The Sun that Andrew had met with producers of the dating show in an attempt to enhance his fame.

Wait, is this coming from a guy who shot to fame on the Apprentice and then CBB? It just doesn't add up. *rolls eyes*

A friend of Caroline's told the paper that she ''is livid'' and we don't blame her.

It also alleged that Andrew is being a complete pr*ck and making the break up “as difficult and painful for Caroline as possible.''

If this all wasn't;t bad enough, Flackers literally just told the whole world via her Cosmopolitan mag cover/interview that she had found ''The One'' in Andrew.

She wrote, '''my life was complete before you came into  it – a man doesn't’t complete your life. But I wanted to make room in it for you. I look at you and I think, ‘Yes, Andrew, you’re the one I’ve been waiting for.’''

Awks.

Social media have voicing their disgust in Andrew, commenting, ''Andrew Brady is a user who will do anything to extend his 5 minutes of fame he just needs to go away. If I ever see him I will clout him.''

Others made it clear that they weren't surprised.

''Anyone with half a brain worked him out on Celeb BB. Complete fantasist, user and fame hungry. A vile human being,'' one user wrote.

Mostly, though, people just wished Caroline well because, let's face it, heartbreak is tough enough without the intense media scrutiny mixed in.

''Poor old Caroline Flack….however Dr Alex is still single…'' one person tweeted  and another said, ''sorry for Caroline but I’m glad her and Andrew are over! He’s a horrible, immature boy – from watching him on celeb big brother, his behaviour was appalling.''

The former couple announced their engagement in April after a whirlwind two months together.

All we have to say is – Caz, you had a lucky escape!

It has been confirmed that Samira Mighty has left Love Island. She has decided to “follow her heart” after Frankie Foster was eliminated earlier this week.

The 22-year-old dancer was heartbroken following Frankie’s exit from the popular reality show.

Samira originally planned to stay on the show, despite her beau’s departure, but she said being surrounded by other couples was too much for her to handle.

She opened up to Megan, Ellie and Dani about her decision: “My beautiful girls, you guys know that I've had a really rough couple of days here recently and I've been umming and ahhing about leaving.”

“I've not had any connection in here with anyone and I had a little taste of that with Frankie and it's gone abruptly and I think I'd always be thinking 'what if'.”

Samira said she knew she had to go with her gut feeling: “I woke up this morning and I thought it's my time to go, I have to do this for me. I've never felt so strong.”

"This decision is so, so hard. I'm devastated by it. But I think that it is the right thing to do. Just follow my heart because I've never done that before.”

She is planning on pursuing her relationship with Frankie outside of the villa: “'I've always taken the back seat and now I need to go for it head on and leave and just go for Frankie."

According to The Sun on Sunday, Andrew, who is famous for stints on the The Apprentice and Celebrity Big Brother, popped the question last week.

Speaking to the newspaper a source said: "Caroline is totally in love. Andrew treats her like a princess. She's grinning from ear to ear because she feels like she's found The One. All Caroline's family love him and he's got the Flack seal of approval.

"She's so happy that she is able to go on Love Island this year having found love herself. She views it as a fairytale story."

However, it hasn't all been smooth sailing. Last month, Caroline reportedly dumped the reality TV star over rumours that he was only using her for fame.

It's believed she grew suspicious of the amount of photographers that would appear when the pair were out together, but after crisis talks they managed to get their relationship back on track.

It was also claimed that Andrew "shared a passionate kiss" with a dancer he met in a Chester night club, just days after Caroline introduced him to her family.

But judging by their latest snaps, the couple are now more loved up than ever.
