The ISPCA is appealing for new homes for a number of cats currently in the care of the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Longford, o if you're a true cat-lover, this could be your opportunity to make a feline friend.

The cattery is now full to capacity with over 50 cats and kittens needing good homes.

So far this year, 351 cats and kittens have been responsibly rehomed from the Centre, 207 of which originated from an ex-research facility, with 144 being seized by or surrendered to our Inspectors.

50 cats remain at the ex-research facility and the ISPCA would like to be able to remove them before Christmas.

The charity is appealing to members of the public to consider adopting one of these super friendly cats if they are considering getting a new pet. All the cats are fully vet checked, vaccinated, treated for parasites, litter trained, neutered or spayed and they will need to be re-homed as indoor cats only.

Eva Ellis, ISPCA Centre Manager said: "These adorable cats will make wonderful pets plus they are naturally independent making them perfect companions for people with busy lifestyles."

"They love nothing more than to sit on a lap and be cuddled plus the mere act of stroking a cat has been known to release endorphins in our brain associated with well-being and happiness, linked to lowering blood pressure as well as lowering the risk of heart disease."

Eva continued: “We are however struggling to find new owners to adopt these gorgeous cats and with so many in our care, we are under pressure to find room to take in an additional 50 cats due to be removed from ex research laboratory by the end of December”.

“Despite spending their entire life living in a clinical environment with limited stimuli, these cats are all adorably interactive and love attention”.

Cats and kittens are not only puuurrrfect company but having a cat/pet also teaches children compassion and responsibility.  By understanding and respecting your cats’ needs and dignity, you’ll be passing on an important message to our younger generation.

Once we find new homes for these adorable cats and kittens patiently waiting for new homes, it will help free up space in our cattery to help find more cats and kittens a new family to call their own.

You can visit the ISPCA National Animal Centre  Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 to 4pm, email  info@ispca.ie or call  043 33 25035 (0) Visit the ISPCA website on http://www.ispca.ie/rehoming/cats_rehoming/ to see the many cats and kittens looking for good homes.

So, if you had could choose one super power, what would it be?

Time travel? Invisibility? The ability to speak to animals?

The last one. Obviously.

Well, according to a new Amazon report, pet translators are not only possible, they could be on the market within ten years.

Futurologist William Higham of Next Big Thing, who co-authored the report for Amazon, said: “Innovative products that succeed are based around a genuine and major consumer needs.”

“The amount of money now spent on pets – they are becoming fur babies to so many people – means there is huge consumer demand for this. Somebody is going to put this together.”

He also referred to research being carried out by Con Slobodchikoff, professor emeritus at the department of biological sciences at Northern Arizona University, who found that prairie dogs had “a sophisticated communication system that has all the aspects of language”.

“They have words for different species of predator and can describe the colour of clothes of a human, or the coat of coyotes or dogs,” Slobodchikoff says.

The author of Chasing Doctor Dolittle: Learning the Language of Animals, now believes his research could apply to other animals and is currently raising money to develop a cat and dog translation device – and we're totally behind the idea.

Just think of all the fun you and your four-legged friends could have together!

Don't get us wrong, we love cats and kittens. But saying that, we don't want them mixed in with our make-up.

First spotted on Geek.com, cosmetics brand Felissimo Nekobu creates beauty products "meant to evoke feelings of cuddling and kissing cats."

That all sounds well and good, but we're not too sure about its latest item on the market.

The brand created a lipgloss that feels like your kissing a kitten's nose when you apply it… But, you rub lipgloss all over your mouth, and we don't particularly fancy rubbing a kitten's nose all over our lips now, do we?

The product, named 'Neko no hana ni kisu shita mitai – hinyari ohana', or in other words, 'It’s like I’ve just kissed a cat’s nose – a pleasantly cool nose', all come with a "kitten milk" scent, and we're just properly freaked out by it all.

We love cats and want to cuddle them all day, errr'day, but this cosmetics brand may have gone a tad too far with this one.

Periods are crap. Between break-outs, bad moods and general dishevelment, it's fair to say that women go through the motions (and notions) during their time of the month.

But for some women, PMS symptoms can be crippling. While some scientists put bad PMS down to genetics, others are looking at a different cause, and we don't like it.

Apparently, researchers believe that extreme PMS could be caused by a parasite that's commonly found in cats. *Sob*

The Daily Mail reports that an organism called toxoplasmosis, can be picked up while changing cat litter and it has also been linked to a number of other issues, including anxiety and aggression in humans.

Scientists from Juarez University of Durango State in Mexico studied over 150 women, taking blood samples to see if they could find the toxoplasma parasite in their system.

At the end of the testing, they found that women infected with the parasite were nine times more likely to report feeling "out of control" just before their period was due.

However, the study published in the journal Clinical Medical Research did admit that this study was small and more research need to be conducted to confirm the findings.

"The results of this first study of its kind suggest toxoplasma gondii infection might be linked to some symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder," they said.

The world turned to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London as Swedish prosecutors interviewed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange over an alleged rape accusation dating back six years.

Assange has sought asylum in the embassy since June 2012.

While Assange may have drawn the crowds, the photographers turned their attention to another member of the Assange clan.

Appearing in the embassy window, Assange's cat looked inquisitively down at the hoards in a jewelled collar.

After posing for a few photographs, the cat seemed to grow tired of his moment in the spotlight, and disappeared from view.

In a bizarre twist, the cat later reappeared, this time wearing a collar and tie.

Looking extremely dapper in his red and white striped tie, the cat drew laughs from the crowd as it surveyed the commotion outside.

The cat in question is called Embassy Cat, and has his very own Twitter page with a following of over 24,000.

Clearly, computer genius Assange is bored, after having his internet privileges removed from him by the embassy in October.

Assange continues to face questioning over the alleged sexual assault but has not been charged with the crime.

Blue Cross has created the first mindfulness online meditation class which stars adorable felines and experts from The Mindfulness Project.

The 10-minute class is available online and absolutely free, so you can use it to your peril for whenever you need to de-stress.

The video aims to draw attention to how cats and kittens can put us in a good mood, and hopefully it'll help Blue Cross re-home it's adorable rescue cats.

Take a look and see if it calms you a little – just watch out for the purring (you'll know what we mean when you hear it)!

Not all heroes wear capes ladies!

Chase Stout’s girlfriend, Kenzie, went way for a weekend recently, and he was left in charge of her adorable kitten, Mr Wilson.

Chase was curious about what to feed this sweet little feline, so he texted his girlfriend and asked.

"Do you know if Wilson likes chocolate chips in his pancakes?" Chase said to his other half.

Why did he ask this? BECAUSE he had made very special teeny tiny pancakes for Mr Wilson!

This is just too much.

Chase shared the story on his Twitter on September 26, and the pictures went viral (OBVIOUSLY), with 44,000 retweets and 81,000 likes.

Chase has been dubbed "boyfriend goals" by every woman on the Internet as a result… including us!
