Like a great many Americans, Margot Gerster has spent much of the week feeling pretty disillusioned by the result of the presidential campaign which saw Donald Trump elected 45th president of the United States.

And while countless Americans found their spirits momentarily lifted by Hillary Clinton's inspirational concession speech, Margot was fortunate enough to have a one-on-one with her in the wake of her shock defeat.

Taking to Facebook to share the moment with the public, Margot explained that she had been hiking with her baby daughter in New York when she bumped into Bill and Hillary Clinton walking their dogs.

"I've been feeling so heartbroken since yesterday's election and decided what better way to relax than take my girls hiking," Margot wrote in a post which has been liked a staggering 107,000 times in just 13 hours.

"We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing. As we were leaving, I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was."

Explaining the impact Hillary's campaign has had on her as a mother, Margot added: "I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her."

"She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk. Now, I'm not one for signs but I think ill definitely take this one. So proud."

Unsurprisingly, Margot has been inundated with comments from people all over the world who were touched by her impromptu meeting with Hillary.

"This is amazing!!! Can't wait for the shot 30 years from now when your daughter gets the chance to run for president because of the work Hillary did!' wrote one."That's gonna be an incredible before and after shot."

We're with them on that one.

Chat show hosts and stand-up comedians in the United States have been burdoned with what many would consider an insurmountable task this week.

In a week which will go down in American history for all the wrong reasons, the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon have been relied upon to inject humour into the fact Donald J Trump yesterday became the 45th President of the United States.

But given the understandable anger, distress and frustration felt by millions of American citizens this week, it's not been easy… and yet, they've somehow managed it.

Take Jimmy Kimmel, for example, who acknowledged that for many of his viewers, Trump's election has instigated a process akin to mourning.

Taking that theme and running with it, the uber popular late night host talked his audience through the various stages of grief which he believes they are currently experiencing.

And despite the disheartening subject matter, Jimmy managed to offer up some serious LOLS.

Good man yourself, Jimbo.

Die-hard Mixers went on high alert this week after Jesy Nelson stopped following her fiancé Jake Roche on social media.

And if that wasn't suspicious enough, the 25-year-old Little Mix singer, who already delayed her wedding in recent months, was then spotted out and about without her engagement ring.

Alarm bells went off in all corners of the Little Mix fandom, and it seems they were right to presume the worst because it looks like it's all over between the couple.

According to emerging reports, Jesy was devastated by Jake's lack of enthusiasm for their upcoming wedding and struggled to understand his attitude towards their big day.

"Jesy has gone through an intense amount of soul searching and emotional strain as the wedding plans became more intense – and she just couldn’t go through with it’, a source told LOOK magazine.

It sounds like the former X Factor contestant began doubting the authenticity of her relationship with Jake, and eventually decided it would be better to bring things to an end.

"As the wedding got closer she found herself asking if her and Jake were really as deeply in love as they wanted to think. She texted him and said she doesn’t feel she can go on and needs a break to really work out what she wants in life.’ the insider revealed.

According to the report, Jesy feared that their relationship relied too heavily on external factors.

"She’s been really worried that she was going to start living out her worst nightmare – having a ‘showmance’ marriage where it was more about the careers and the attention than actually really building a life and strong marriage together."

Commenting further on the split, the insider revealed that Jesy focussed her attention on the future and unfortunately realised that they would be unlikely to survive in the long run.

"She wanted to see him taking more interest in the wedding plans, in working out when they were going to try for a baby and basically see him settle down more – and it simply didn’t happen."

Aw Jesy, at least you have your girls right now.

Ever since Kathryn Thomas announced her engagement earlier this month, we’ve been only DYING to get a proper, up close and personal look at her sparkler.

And the wait is now over.

While celebrating the launch of the Asador Terrace at Dublin’s Asador Restaurant, the much-loved presenter and fitness enthusiast showcased her princess cut diamond engagement ring, and frankly we’re having trouble concentrating on anything else.

Would you LOOK at that sparkler?!

And it sounds like Kathryn, who has been in a relationship with Padraig McLoughlin since 2013, may have had a hand in its choosing.

Reflecting on the months leading up to Padraig’s surprise proposal in Ballyfin House, Kathryn recently said: “We had talked about it on and off for the last six months."

"I might have dropped a few Pinterest pictures. Just a few," she joked.

Well, let’s just say it  – girl’s got serious taste.

We'll be honest – one of the first few things that springs to mind when we think of Lauren Conrad is pastels, pearls and pretty things.

And as far as her Instagram goes, we're not too far off point, but it sounds like she's reined in this side of herself at home if a recent interview with Good Housekeeping is anything to go by.

The former Hills star turned fashion designer explained that when moving in with her husband William Tell, she was encouraged to compromised her girlie side a little bit.

"When we got our first place together, I definitely had to learn to compromise," she admitted.

“I think he’s toned down my girly a little bit, which is good because I’m an adult and everything can’t be pink," she said.

And while she may have been encouraged to curtail her uber-girlie side, it doesn't sound like the 30-year-old minds too much considering the traditions she has gotten in return.

"One of my favourite new traditions, which is from my husband William’s family, is going over on Christmas morning in our pajamas," she told the magazine.

"It’s really sweet – his mom drops off a set for me so we’ll all match.” Lauren added.

Well, that sounds… ahem… cute.

The Humans of New York Facebook page is easily one of the most popular on the site, and while it generally gives an insight into the lived experience of anonymous members of society, yesterday it put Barack Obama under the spotlight.

Shortly after Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States, Barack Obama, who spent two terms in the White House, shared a message with the public which was added to the HONY page.

In an incredibly candid account of his rise to power, the father-of-two revealed that constant knockbacks resulted in a loss of confidence and sense of unease about personal goals.

“I first ran for Congress in 1999, and I got beat. I just got whooped. I had been in the state legislature for a long time, I was in the minority party, I wasn’t getting a lot done, and I was away from my family and putting a lot of strain on Michelle." he said.

"Then for me to run and lose that bad, I was thinking maybe this isn’t what I was cut out to do. I was forty years old, and I’d invested a lot of time and effort into something that didn’t seem to be working."

In an attempt to inspire others, Obama shared his method for navigating personal and professional pitfalls, continuing: "But the thing that got me through that moment, and any other time that I’ve felt stuck, is to remind myself that it’s about the work."

"Because if you’re worrying about yourself – if you’re thinking: ‘Am I succeeding? Am I in the right position? Am I being appreciated?’ – then you’re going to end up feeling frustrated and stuck."

"But if you can keep it about the work, you’ll always have a path. There’s always something to be done," Obama finished in a post which has been likes 752,000 times since its upload ten hours ago.

The post has been inundated with support from Facebook users, with one writing: "I will always be proud to have lived during the Presidency of Barack Obama. He was the true progressive and he'll be sorely missed."

"He and Michelle brought so much grace, youth, and intelligence to the White House. They're so *real* too, just genuine, fun-loving people." added another.

Donald Trump will be sworn into the Oval Office in January of next year.

Fans of Gigi Hadid were left stunned last week when iconic fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger, reportedly suggested that garments worn by the 21-year-old model during a recent show were chosen on account of the fact she wasn't as tall or thin as the other models.

"Our casting director said, 'She doesn't really fit because, you know, she's not quite as tall as the other girls, she's not quite as thin,'" Tom reportedly told Yahoo during about interview on his latest show.

"So they put a red, white and blue poncho on her. It covered a lot of her body unfortunately, but it received millions of hits so I said why don't we ask her to design a line for us."

As media outlets and Gigi's fandom whipped up a storm, Tommy was quick to respond to the controversy in an official statement insisting his comments had been taken out of context.

And while some may assume the designer was simply doing some serious damage control, it sounds like the woman at the centre of the controversy is with him on this one.

Speaking to Access Hollywood in light of last week's story, Kendall's BFF insisted she knew Tommy had nothing but love for her.

"I know that when Tommy said it last week, it was in context of a larger story that wasn't shown," Gigi said.

"Tommy was rooting for me and regardless of what the stylist of that season said or what he put me in, Tommy wanted me in the show, and Tommy was pushing for me and Tommy loved my curves,"

22 hours ago, Miley Cyrus took to Twitter, and sounded pretty damn upbeat.

Sharing a photo of herself rocking a badge and a broad grin, Miley wrote: "I voted today for @HillaryClinton. I am so proud of all of you who did the same. #imwithher"

Less than a day later, the popstar returned to her social media account and shed tears in front of her 31 million online followers.

Sounding understandably distraught by this morning's result, the Wrecking Ball singer struggled to maintain her composure as she questioned her country's decision to instate Donald Trump.

"I do want to say I have been very vocal in my support for everyone besides Donald Trump, heavily supported Bernie, heavily supported Hillary" Miley said.

"And I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president and that's what makes me so sad."

Dissolving into tears, Miley continued: "It's that I just wish that she had that opportunity because she fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this county. This is all she's ever done – she's given her life to make it better."

The video, which has racked up 30,000 likes, then showed Miley attempting to reason her way out of her upset and focus positively on the future before again breaking down as she reflected on the impact Barack Obama had during his time in office.

"Happy hippies, we adjust and accept everyone who they are. so Donald Trump I accept you and I even accept you as President of the United States," Miley admitted.

"President Obama, Mr Obama, I want to say thank you for everything you've done," she added.

Miley's fans wasted no time showing their support for the singer, with one writing: "Love you Miley. This is beautiful. Thanks for being you."

If anyone has had a crash course in the downsides of fame, it's X Factor contestant Honey G.

In the spotlight only mere months, the aspiring rapper has had to deal with her fair share of criticism, and it looks like it's only served to make her more determined to smash it in the charts.

Countless viewers have been vocal in their disbelief over Honey G's progress in the ITV show, and now heavy-hitters in the music industry have added to the backlash against her.

When asked her opinion of the contestant, Lily Allen responded: "I find it offensive. So wrong on so many levels, I can’t even start to talk about it.”

Similarly, rapper Professor Green was far from impressed with her performances thus far, saying: "I just don’t think she’s a very credible representation."

Hitting back at the criticism, Honey G reminded her haters that she has an extensive background in music and has the support of two major global stars.

"Lily Allen said she finds it offensive but she needs to get her facts right. Professor Green said I’m taking the mickey out of rap music," Honey G confirmed.

"My mum is a pianist and I’ve followed in her footsteps. Her music is classical and mine is rap. I come from a musical background. People haven’t done their homework on me." she insisted.

Suggesting Professor Green might need a big ol' serving of humble pie, she added: "But then Snoop Dogg has talked about doing a record with me and 50 Cent has backed me."

Hmm, we wonder what they'll make of that…

Look, we all know Kim Kardashian West is the undisputed queen of reality television.

Her siblings may grab the spotlight off her every now and again, but when it comes down to it, Kim (and her doting momager) are at the heart of the reality television family dynasty.

So, it's no real surprise that sources close to the family have revealed that Kim won't be too happy to have her crown stolen by her brother's pregnant partner Blac Chyna.

While neither Kim nor Chyna will have any say in the matter, the latter is hoping to welcome the newest Kardashian addition on a momentous day in American history.

"Chyna hoping her water breaks and that she’s able to pop on election day! Reason being, she wants her baby girl to be born on the same day that Hillary Clinton could quite possibly be the first woman President of the United States," an insider explained.

"Chyna thinks that would be epic and so fitting for her little girl to be born on a potentially historic day," the source added.

Speaking to HollywoodLife, the source reminded the public that while Kim may have taken a step back from the limelight in recent weeks, that doesn't mean she's content to let other members of her extended family step up to the plate.

"That would certainly make Kim a little pissed, you know, because she doesn’t want anyone in the family competing with her legacy. But what’s the Kardashian family without a little competition," they added.

While her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, has been negotiating custody of his children following his split from Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston has been speaking to Marie Claire about the dynamic of her own relationship.

Having wed Justin Theroux in 2015, the former Friends star told the magazine that Justin has given her a sense of comfort she had sought for decades.

Jennifer, who has endured a high-profile divorce from Brad Pitt and railed against intense media scrutiny over her lack of children over the course of the last decade, explains that Justin brings out the best in her.

"There's no part of me that I don't feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much." she explained.

Adding to this heartwarming summation of her marriage, she continued: "And he's such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him."

Jennifer suggests that this level of contentment is not something she is particularly used to, explaining that she's spent much of her career having to justify personal choices.

"My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed," she said.

Reflecting on her decision to write an open letter highlighting the media's treatment of her personal life, she told the magazine: "I just thought: I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human."

God, if we didn't already love her enough already…

Let's be honest – as well as lusting after the brand's exquisite underwear, most of us spend the duration of the Victoria's Secret show drooling over the Angels walking in the iconic fashion show.

And while we all accept that these women are paid to look…well… pretty much perfect, it doesn't come as easily to all of them as the rest of us might like to think.

Commenting on this, Victoria's Secret Angel, Bella Hadid, explains: "It’s crazy because I think that when other people look at all of the VS models or all of the girls who are walking, they’re like, ‘They’re not human. They don’t have any insecurities.’"

"But I think every single girl who’s going to be walking probably has an insecurity," she said while chatting about the upcoming show.

Bella told People magazine that she regrets the effort she has put into her pre-show preparation, and she's already missing the curves she lost in order to attain a 'picture-perfect' Angel image.

'I really didn’t mean to lose weight. Like I want boobs. I want my ass back," the 20-year-old model admitted.

And yet despite appearing to regret her new look, she applauds her determination and willpower to have achieved it in the first place.

"I’ve been eating hard protein every day, and working out for three hours every day. It’s crazy but I think that if you set your mind to something, I think you can succeed."

Gigi's younger sister was also keen to remind the public that despite perhaps overdoing it this time around, she doesn't expect to be criticised for her appearance.

'My weight fluctuates and so does everybody’s and I think that if people are gonna judge, that’s the worst you can possibly do because everybody is different,' she said.

Bella will be walking alongside the likes of Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk and Karlie Kloss.
