Swanky beauty products are one thing we sometimes can't resist shelling out our hard-earned €€€ for, but it turns out we might have been led astray.

Ditch your La Prarie or Creme De La Mér, because when it comes to skincare, most celebs like to keep it simple.

And by simple, we mean cheap. Like change-from-a-tenner cheap.

Chief among those thrifty stars is 19-year-old Kylie Jenner, who could no doubt afford to buy an entire salon's worth of beauty products if she so desires, but instead chooses to take off her make-up using a cleanser that's available in most supermarkets.

"The makeup remover that I love is Pond's," she told Elle last week.

"That's the only thing I've used my whole life… The cold cream."

You heard it here first, folks. If you want skin like Kylie (minus the fake eyelashes and lip fillers), a €5.99 tub of Pond's is your best bet. Of course, Kylie's not the only one keeping to budget for her beauty buys.

Here are a few of the other celeb-approved products that happen to be cheap as chips (literally)…

1. Sudocrem, €2.40
Celeb fans: Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Chloe Sims

Long a favourite of baby bums everywhere, the Irish-made Sudocrem is actually a pretty amazing skin-care treatment too. A quick dab of Sudocrem before bed for a couple of nights on the trot and you should notice that nasty red pimple fading into nothingness. "It really works," says Cheryl.

2. Astral All Over Moisturiser, €4.99
Celeb fans: Kate Beckinsale, Little Mix's Jesy Nelson

If you have dry skin on your face or body, grab a tub of this magic stuff that's been around since your Granny's day. It soothes irritation, and boosts hydration too. While it might be a tad heavy under make-up for some, it's the perfect night cream.

3. Johnson's Baby Shampoo, €2.69
Celeb fans: Reese Witherspoon

This gentle scalp-soothing shampoo was first launched in 1959 – but it's not only for babies. Reese swears by it to keep her super-fine blonde hair in check.

4. Beer
Celeb fans: Suki Waterhouse

Okay, downing a pint is not the secret to clear skin – but when it comes to your hair, it could do just the trick. According to Suki, a quick wash with beer and water gives her perfect beach babe tresses. "I don’t like my hair when it’s washed – it’s fine and limp – but Coca-Cola makes it tousled, like I’ve been through the Amazon or something," she says. We'll give it a go…

5. Toothpaste
Celeb fans: Gigi Hadid

Got a spot that just won't quit. Make like Ms. Hadid and lash some toothpaste on it. "I put it on pimples to dry them out, " the model says. "It works!"
