Ed Sheeran has announced his semi-retirement at the tender age of 28 in order to spend time with his wife and childhood sweetheart; Cherry Seaborn.

The Beautiful People singer has made a fortune from his music and tour dates, and has appeared at number 17 of the UK's richest musicians in 2019.

The singer told fans at the last gig of his Divide tour that he'll be stepping away from the spotlight to build a life with his new wife.

"As you may or not know, I've been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing.

"There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months," he continued.

"We've played all around the world. Glastonbury, Wembley Stadium. All these amazing venues, America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South America – it's been a wild one."

"It's been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage. It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you're breaking up with a girlfriend that you've been with for years," he joked.

"It sounds odd but it has been a long tour." Monday's concert may as well be his final loop pedal tour gig, as he'll have a band behind him next time.

Fighting back tears, Ed changed out of his Ipswich Town football shirt and put on another one symbolising his home; Framlingham Town.

"I want to say thank you to everyone on this tour. Thank you to everyone who has given me a chance. This is my last song. I wrote this when I was 15 years old. See you in a few years' time. Thank you."

Ed low-key married his childhood sweetheart Cherry last December, and recently revealed that they're planning to start a family; "I'm starting a life with Cherry. I can't spend the next 20 years on the road."

"Kids would be the different thing. I wouldn't mind sacrificing for them. If someone told me you can't tour again for the next ten years if you have kids that is fine, because that is what I have signed up for.

"I've already achieved more than I thought I would, so now I'm just trying to have fun."

Well, speculation has been rife for months that Ed Sheeran had already tied the knot in secret to Cherry Seaborn and now the singer has finally confirmed the rumours.

The British artist dropped his No. 6 Collaborations Project album today, and confirmed in a video interview with Charlamagne The God that he wed his long-time lady Cherry last year.

Charlamagne Tha God boldly asks about the lyrics on the same Remember the Name featuring 50 Cent and Eminem, specifically;

“Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted. My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick.” My WIFE. He's only gone and done it.

The 28-year-old revealed that the pair hadn't actually tied the knot when he wrote those lyrics;

“It was actually before me and Cherry got married and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out. I thought; "Someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’" I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out.”

“Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet — just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest,” the publication reported.

“He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them — just a tiny winter wedding…Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it.”

You can thank Taylor Swift for their marriage, as they shared their first date at her Fourth of July bash in the summer of 2015.

Sheeran revealed that he'd proposed over the 2017 season in January of last year. The hockey player was the inspiration behind the ballad Perfect.

“Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” the Grammy winner wrote on Instagram. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.” BLESS THEM.

There was only 40 close friends and family in attendance.

It has been said that, ''Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet – just Ed's oldest school pals, limited family and the priest.''

The report continued, ''There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them -just a tiny winter wedding. Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. That sounds like the perfect intimate wedding.

The pair are planning a festival-style wedding for the summer for their celebrity friends so we'll get some amazing snaps from that bash.

Ed announced his engagement to Cherry in January 2018 on Instagram, writing, ''Got myself a fiancée just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.''

Apparently, Ed Sheeran is engaged to his partner Cherry Seaborn… well, if Russell Crowe has anything to say about it.

According to The Sun, the actor let slip that Cherry is Ed's "fiancée" while discussing his relationship with the chart-topper.

He said: “We became friends through people we know and he was on tour and came to stay.

"We just became friendly and he has since come back with his fiancée for more time and stuff.”

So far, Ed's team have stayed quiet about the news, but since the two lads are quite close, it's possible Ed confided in Russell.

The question is though, will they remain friends now that Russell has let out Ed's secret?

We think so, and we also hope the news is true.

So we're obviously massive fans of Ed Sheeran here at the SHEmazing! headquarters, but when we saw these snaps of the star, we nearly couldn't cope.

If it was possible for us to love the red-haired singer more than we already did, then that's what happened when when we laid our eyes on this image of Ed leaving the Brit Awards after-party, hand-in-hand with his long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.

The couple have been friends for years, and have been dating for two years.

He dropped out of school at 16 to focus on his music career, but that doesn't mean Ed Sheeran isn't going to get the full college experience.

The singer spent an evening mastering the delicate art of beer pong at Duke University in North Carolina this week… and documented the whole night on Snapchat.

Ed was in the college town of Chapel Hill to spend some quality time with his rumoured new girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn (sorry ladies).

The old friends met at Thomas High School in Suffolk in their teens, and reconnected on Twitter earlier this year. Cherry now lives in the US full-time while working for Deloitte in New York, after graduating with a Management Studies Master's Degree from Duke last year.

The Suffolk-born beauty is also a champion field hockey player, who has played for Duke's Blue Devils and also for the English Under-21 team.

Ed and Cherry first sparked rumours of a romance last month when they were spotted together at a baseball game in New York, and after making the pilgrimage to North Carolina with her, we reckon the singer is 100% smitten.

Ed and his rumoured flame returned to Cherry's alma mater for a night of boozing and beer pong-ing – though he's definitely not the most skilled player we've ever seen. 

Needless to say, the entire population of Duke University had a meltdown after hearing the Thinking Out Loud singer was on campus:

After their party, the couple headed to a nearby bar and back to a USC frat house, before grabbing some fast food on campus at 3am… as you do.

For someone who recently said that his love life was non-existent, Ed Sheeran certainly knows how to keep the rumour mill hopping.

Of late he was linked with none other than former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, although that was believed to be an untrue claim.

However, if certain media outlets are to be believed, Ed has moved on quite quickly. Over the last number of weeks he has been spotted spending a lot of time with former classmate Cherry Seaborn.

The two have been spotted at a baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets.

The duo were also seen out and about in NYC before Ed makes an appearance in Houston, Texas later this week as part of his X tour.

According to the Mirror, the pair both attended Thomas Mills High School together in Suffolk. Apparently they have reconnected in recent weeks as the two have been swapping tweets for a while now.

Cherry is currently living in New York. She attended Duke University after relocating to the states in 2013.

She is also a talented hockey player as she has a bronze medal from the European Championships from 2012 and in 2012 and 2013 she led her team to victory at the British University Championships.

It is believed that at the moment she is working as an Advisory Consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLp in NYC.
