Christmas

I am a big believer in the phrase Treat Yo Self. My bank account is certainly aware of my love of this motto.

Ever since Tom and Donna introduced me to the phrase on Parks and Recreation I’ve been treating myself to everything from over-priced notebooks to concert tickets.

Trust me, it hasn’t gotten to a dangerous level (yet) but a recent tweet reminded me of why we should splurge on luxuries every now and then.

Following the death of her mum, Twitter user Cath (@rentswrites) shared: “After she died I was tasked with clearing out her things. So much unworn and untouched. So many things kept “for best.” Don’t do that. Wear the clothes, spray the perfume and dance in the shoes. Be bold/outrageous/fancy while you have the chance.”

This tweet got me thinking about how guilty we can feel for treating ourselves which is nonsense. So, when I got a sneak peek at the new L’Occitane Christmas collection my mind screamed… TREAT. YO. SELF.

This year, the brand has teamed up with none other than French fashion house Castelbajac. Together they have created a divine collection that has left us starry-eyed.

The two brands have put together the most divine collection inspired by constellations, that instantly reminds us of the classic childhood book A Little Prince.

The new collection features the classic products we have adored for years, but they’ve been given quite the eye-catching makeover.

The Shea Butter rage is here to save your skin during those bitter, icy winter days. One thing you need to invest in is the nourishing hand cream with 20 percent Shea Butter. It will leave your hands feeling super soft in no time. Pick up the 200ml tube of this life-saver for €24.

Another heavenly product on our wish list is the hydrating Almond Milk Concetrate. The swoon-worthy product is our winter saviour. It keeps your body hydrated from dusk ‘til dawn. Treat yourself to a 200ml jar for €46.

There are so many incredible L’Occitane products we want to try, from hand creams to lip balms, and the perfect way to find your holy grail products is by purchasing one of the classic advent calendars. The advent calendar features 24 mini-products that you can look forward to opening every day of December.

The Classic Advent Calendar is worth €99 but available for €59- the ultimate bargain.  The Luxury Advent Calendar is worth €126 but is priced at €99.

The new L’Occitane Christmas collection in collaboration with Castelbajac is available in stores and online from September 20, 2018.

Look, I know it is only September, but I can’t help but feel excited about Christmas. Is it too early? Maybe… Do I care? Nope.

I am already embracing the holiday spirit and this latest movie news has my heart feeling full and festive.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clark and Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding are set to star in a Christmas film together written by none other than Emma Thompson.

The Hollywood goddess is no stranger to festive films, having starred in Love Actually in 2003. Emma’s portrayal of the heartbroken Karen is by far one of her best performances *listens to Joni Mitchell and sobs*

The Pride and Prejudice actress has penned the screenplay for upcoming Christmas flick Last Christmas, with the help of Bryony Kimmings.

The writer revealed the movie is based on the popular Wham! hit Last Christmas. The late George Michael even gave the movie his blessing before his untimely passing on Christmas Day 2016.

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig will take over directing duties for the romantic comedy.

Lead actor Henry Golding couldn’t help but express his excitement about Last Christmas: “Finally I can start getting excited and share the news… @paulfeig and I will be back to business in London at the end of the year.”

It is believed filming will take place in London later this year, which unfortunately means it won’t be released in time for Christmas 2018.

I guess we’ll just have to stick with the classics for now. If anybody needs me I’ll be watching Home Alone for the 1000th time.

Yes, we're talking about Christmas already – but hey, it's to do with the John Lewis ad, ok?

The iconic ad is something that everyone looks forward to every year and this year looks set to be even better than ever.

It has been reported that Sir Elton has signed on the dotted line to voice the ad for a whopping £5 million.

His hit ''Your Song'' will be the soundtrack for the department store TV ad and that Elton himself will appear onscreen playing the piano.

So, what's the storyline this year?

It will reportedly follow Elton's life, with a younger version of him with his family and then through time as he grows up.

At the end of the ad, it’ll be the Elton as we know now.

According to the Mail, ''it is all very, very charming and the exciting crescendo at the end will be Elton playing his famous piano.''

This all hasn't been confirmed but a John Lewis spokesman said, ''we are lucky enough to enjoy lots of speculation around our TV ads, much of which is wildly inaccurate, and our one rule is to never comment on any aspect simply because we want to keep the magic.''

We can't wait to see it!

The Coronas’ December shows at the Olympia theatre are one of the most popular music events of the year.

Their legendary gigs have almost become part of the Christmas calendar now.

This year, the San Diego Song singers will be playing the Olympia on December 3 and 4.

Whether you were at their very first show there ten years ago or ‘the one where the power cut’ in 2010, you’ll know how magical these up close and personal shows are.

This year, The Coronas have something special planned to mark a decade of Olympia shows.

As always, tickets for the two shows are expected to fly out this Friday.

Danny O’Reilly says “We’re so excited to be coming back this year to the Olympia. It’s hard to believe we’ve been playing this venue for 10 years.”

He continued: “We’re heading off on tour next week all around America, Canada and then Australia but knowing that we’re coming home at Christmas with these gigs to look forward to is an amazing feeling.”
“We’re gonna plan something special for the gigs to thank our fans for continuing to come back and spend these deadly nights with us,” the frontman teased.

General tickets from €33.50 including booking fee and restoration levy go on general sale this Friday at 9am

Kate Spade’s passing shattered the hearts of millions of people around the world.

Many people were stunned to hear the designer died by suicide, because “she had it all,” but as many people pointed out- mental health affects everyone.

A post shared by kate spade new york (@katespadeny) on

At the time of her death, her husband Andrew shared that the 55-year-old had been battling many personal demons.

Over a month has passed since her death and Andrew has taken to Instagram to post about the tragic loss.

He shared a photo of a tree decorated in colourful lights outside their family friend’s home.

“She was born Christmas Eve, 1962. She loved the Midwest, the desert, and the city,” he wrote.

Andrew explained that their daughter Bea had spent some time with family friends shortly after her mum’s death.

“I was lucky enough to have dear friends let my daughter stay at their home through a difficult time,” he shared. Bea and her dad decorated the tree in honour of Kate: “This tree was standing alone beside the house so we ordered those multi colored, old fashioned lights from Amazon or Target and another dear personal friend gave me a really Iong extension cord.”

He continued: “Bea and I cut a star out of the cardboard box the lights came on and wrapped it in Reynolds wrap like we do every Christmas.”

The post has been inundated with comments of love and support.

Andrew and Bea’s moving tribute to the woman they loved will bring a tear to your eye. Christmas is bound to be a harrowing time for both of them, but we’re sure they’ll find comfort in their memories of Kate.

We know Christmas is six months away, but we can’t help but feel the tiniest bit excited about this upcoming Netflix movie.

Last Christmas, we were completely obsessed with the popular and incredibly cheesy Netflix film A Christmas Prince. We must admit we tuned into the film more than once over the festive period.

We’re sure you’re going to adore this year’s Netflix original Christmas flick The Princess Switch, starring High School Musical alum Vanessa Hudgens and Nashville star Sam Palladio.

The romantic comedy is all about a Duchess and a commoner who trade places when they realise the uncanny resemblance between them. It sounds like The Parent Trap sprinkled with Christmas cheer and set somewhere a lot more glamorous than a campsite.

However, things get complicated when they both fall in love with men who have no idea who they really are.

Vanessa treated fans to a glimpse of the movie on her Instagram account. She shared a photo with co-star Sam Palladio in full costume.

A post shared by Vanessa Hudgens (@vanessahudgens) on

She captioned the photo: “Did someone say a royal wedding? That’s a wrap on THE CHRISTMAS SWITCH. coming to you this holiday season on Netflix.”

The Spring Breakers actress added: “I’m so excited for you guys to see this one.”

Vanessa may have mixed up the title of the movie, but we cannot wait to see her in the Netflix festive flick.

The film may not be released for a couple of months but we’re already daydreaming of cosying up in front of the fire and tuning into The Princess Switch.
