Christmas

Well the rest of us will be content to stuff our faces with our very own personalised jars of Nutella, we know there is going to be some individuals who would rather just eat the whole Turkey (minus the stuffing).

When it comes to Christmas, we think of food, food, The Late Late Toy Show, and then more food.

For those among us who enjoy a slightly more balanced approach, the endless festive parties and chocolate decorations can become a bit tedious.

If you were struggling to find the perfect gift for that fit freak in your life (that does not include a trip to a sports shop). then we found it!

Bodyfirst Nutrition are selling a protein bar Christmas selection box:

For anyone who wants to ensure they don't fall off the clean eating wagon completely this Christmas, this is the perfect stocking filler. Ditch the sugar-heavy Christmas selection boxes and get yourself one of these bad boys ASAP.

You can choose five of your favourite protein bars from Nutramino, Quest Nutrition, Muscle Pharm Combat Crunch or Oh Yeah Low Carb and add them to your box.

The website also suggests using the hashtag #HappyFitmas to show off your healthy goodies.

We reckon you're going to get some serious eye rolls from fellow social media users, but we all know that they'll probably just be jealous they hadn't though of the idea first.

You have to admit, it is kind of the perfect gift for anyone in your life who just cannot stop talking about the temptations surrounding them during the Christmas period. Stick one of those in the office kitchen and problem solved.

You can find the selection boxes online here for €14.95.

Some of us love Christmas, and some of us… not so much. But one thing that everyone can agree on is that it's a pricey time of year.

And according to a survey commissioned by the Credit Union, the average Irish adult will spend almost €600 in the run up to Christmas this year.

The annual spending survey shows that the average shopper in Ireland can expect to spend €563 this festive season, which is actually lower than the figure produced last year.

“We all need to remember that Christmas really is about giving, not robbing the family finances,” says Ed Farrell of the Credit Union.

A huge number of us are planning to shop online this year (67 percent), with most people saying that value can be found online and 26 per cent of shoppers said it's more convenient to shop online than trek around town.

But many of us (70 per cent) feel worse about our financial situation than we did last year. So, do you think you'll spend that much this year?

Just last week, glitter roots emerged as a new – and very seasonal – beauty trend. Little did we know that some industrious men would decide that all that sparkle shouldn't just be reserved to head hair.

The latest buzz-worthy beauty trend is not for the girls, but for the guys.

Introducing, the glitter beard:

#glitterbeard happened. You're welcome. #diamondstatetattoo #beard #winning

Men across the globe are dipping their facial hair into what looks like VATS of glitter in an attempt to embrace the festive season.

While we love a good bit of facial hair over here at SHEmazing!, we are not quite sure we could cope with coming face-to-face with a real life glitter beard.

But if you LIVE for some festive spirit and know a man with impressive facial hair, why not tell them to ditch the Christmas jumper and embrace the #glitterbeard instead?

For you need to know about achieving the perfect shimmery beard straight out of Christmas heaven, check out the video below.

Ah yes, we are all familiar with the feeling when mammy is on the way home and you remember you haven't taken that chicken out of the freezer.

Oops.

It is exactly this time of year when that feeling kicks into high gear. Not just because of the forgotten pile of ironing with your name on it. Remember how it felt around the house when the visitors were coming?

OUR NERVES! They would be at you for fear you would eat something from the fridge that was exclusively for the visitors arriving on St. Stephen's Day.

Oh and good luck to you if you traipsed into the 'good room' with your mildly dirty shoes on.

This video pretty much perfectly captures the stress of it all, and it is hilarious:

‘Tis the season indeed! If there was ever going to be a time to treat yourself then it seems like today is the day.

The latest sale from Ryanair is making us feel very excited at the prospect of a spontaneous weekend away. You can book until midnight on Wednesday, November 25, to avail of 100,000 €5 seats for travel in December.

The sale includes 31 routes to/from Ireland, according to the airline. These include Dublin to Oslo, Nice, Edinburgh and Basel, among others.

The €5 fares are showing on the airline's home page (ryanair.com), but passengers can also find them by using the Fare Finder feature (which features a roundtrip to Nice for €10).

To see the sale routes on offer just enter your departure airport, a destination of "anywhere", a budget of less than €10, and a travel period of December.

Since October 30 2015, the airline has been responsible for approximately two million seats at sale prices. They have ranged from €5 to €15 across Europe.

There are more European airlines choosing to take advantage of low fuel prices and increased demand. Earlier this year, Chief Executive Michael O'Leary predicted the "mother and father" of airfare wars following IAG's €1.36 billion acquisition of Aer Lingus.

The airline is this week offering UK flights from €19.99, European routes from €29.99 and Dublin to NYC from €249 each way.

Its offers must be booked by midnight on Thursday, November 26.

Christmas presents can be tricky business. And there's only so many years you can buy the same kind of things.

Are you tired of getting your mum the same old gift for Christmas? Because we are. You've bought her a million knitted jumpers through the years and there's only so many 'I Love Mum' mugs you can find.

We feel your pain, because buying for your mother is one of the hardest presents to decide on. But fear not! As we have a totally cool pressie that she will LOVE this year.

Roger &Gallet are one of the world's leading perfumers and they have developed a Perfume Diagnosis on their website.

And what's a Perfume Diagnosis, you ask? Well, it's a small survey to let you know what scent is best suited to you. R&G have gathered up all their information from over the years (and that's a LOT) and by taking the one-minute test, they'll let you know what perfume is suitable for you by taking into account your personality and your interests.

The survey is a fun way to choose a gift and it shows that you actually put some thought into your present, too.

Your siblings will be raging, we guarantee it.

You can take the quiz here, to find a perfect scent for your equally perfect mum.

Do you have plans for the next four weeks?

Well now you do because there are Christmas markets all around the country that you need to visit.

We are already stupidly excited about the arrival of the GIANT 15 metre tree that has arrived in Dublin for the festive season. Now we’re even more eager to spread the Christmas cheer because… Christmas markets.

Dublin

Dublin's Custom House Quarter will be transformed in order to host the I Believe Festival, which is running from November 26 to December 23.

Along with an appearance from Santa (of course) the “chalet style village” is going to offer amazing food and craft stalls so those last minute shopping trips won’t seem so bad.  Also, this will be the home of that massive tree, so basically everything you love about Christmas in one place.

Galway

Grab your Lederhosen! Galway's Christmas market is offering a range of traditional fare this year. The market has 50 stalls takinh over the central square, with an amazing mix of food, crafts and festive activity.

Live entertainment is a big part of the festivities here, with choirs galore. And naturally, a souvenir-sized German beer tent sits at the heart of it all, offering Bavarian brews, salty pretzels, sauerkraut and more. Robbie Henshaw will be on hand to kick-off the festival on Friday 20 November.

Limerick

Limerick's Milk Market is the best spot for Christmas activity for visit for two reasons: 1) ALL of the food and 2) the all-weather canopy covering.

If we’re being honest Irish Christmas markets are more likely to be caressed by rain than snow, so that canopy is a big plus. Also, the stalls packed with artisan foods are there all year round but when Christmas arrives they pull out all the stops. Just try the special festive fudges and you’ll understand.

Belfast

Stalls are basically packed around Belfast’s City Hall, with a fab range of food, drinks, crafts and titbits available from Europe and beyond.

There is also a special post box whisking post off to the North Pole (get there before Dec 17). Also, brunch lovers should keep St. George’s Market – open all year round – in mind.

Cork

Not to be outdone, Cork's Glow festival promises to be an amazing Christmas event. This year includes Ireland's largest Ferris wheel… winning.

The market on Grand Parade has the usual festive food and craft stalls (don't forget to pop into the English Market across the road for a little Christmas nibble).

The highlight of Cork's celebrations though is the transformation of Bishop Lucey Park. The park is to become a Victorian pop-up storybook throughout Glow, with 3D scenes from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas set to create a very ethereal vibe. So you are basically in your own Christmas fairytale.

We are in support of pretty much anything festive these days. November is a month filled with the promise of tinsel, giant Christmas trees and matching jumpers for the whole family (including Rover the puppy).

We cannot wait to see what happens when December arrives.

However, a certain lunch item that is claiming to be exactly what we would expect when it comes to festive desserts has sent the internet into meltdown.

Tesco is selling an Everyday Value Chocolate and Cherry Mascarpone Christmas sandwich on cinnamon bread and no one seems to be able to deal with this news.

A picture of the new meal deal item was shared on Sh*t London’s Facebook page by Londoner Nic Branch who captioned the image: ‘More gold at Tesco’. Since then people have been taking serious issue with the sandwich.

‘Chocolate and cherry sandwiches? Has the world gone mad?’ asked Jane Craigie-Payne.

Others legitimately questioned the cherry content. Tesco seemed to be able to have a laugh about all the fuss:

Luckily, Metro were able to speak with someone who had actually tried the interesting foodie concoction. Seb Budd explained:

“The first few bites were actually OK. The cinnamon bread was a nice touch but after a few more mouthfuls I soon began to realise that this is the sort of sandwich you’d buy to tell someone you really don’t like them.”

Oh?

Seb must not be a mascarpone fan then, but we feel like this might be something that we need to taste-test for ourselves to be absolutely certain.

Last week, we all wept into our Cornflakes as we met John Lewis's Man On The Moon, just in time for Christmas.

But now another festive ad has arrived – all the way from Spain, no less – and we're thinking it might knock John Lewis off the top spot.

The ad, for the Spanish Loteria Nacional (National Lottery), tells the heart-warming tale of Justino, a night security guard in a mannequin factory.

Even though he'll never get to meet the factory's daytime workers, he decides to make life a little more cheerful for them by re-arranging the mannequins into fun poses. When the factory staff win the Lotto, Justino think he's been left out, until he arrives for his night shift…

Watch it, and prepare to well up within twenty seconds. Don't say we didn't warn you…

If you are one of the unfortunate souls (and there are many of us) who has ever had the absolutely brutal experience of stepping on a piece of Lego, then we have good news.

Lego are making extra padded slippers to avoid such devastation in the future. Yes, extra padded slippers with the Lego logo and in a fetching red and yellow combination.

Success!

You are now free to walk about your home without the fear of losing your feet to such a travesty ever again.

However, there is a catch. Only 1,500 pairs of the slippers are available. French blog Piwee explains how you can your hands on a pair.It seems pretty straightforward, you just need to fill out a Christmas wish list.

That should really not pose a problem because who wouldn’t want to put a pair of these at the top of their Christmas list?

Oh, and another feature of the slippers that we love is the fact that they are interchangeable.

So you don’t need to worry about putting your shoe on the wrong foot. You can wear them whatever way you wish.

Now you can forever be safe to walk about your home without the lingering worry of a piece of plastic (that actually feels like a thousand tiny knives) getting lodged in your foot.

Ho, ho, ho! Dublin just got a WHOLE load more festive with the arrival of the giant I BELIEVE Christmas tree in the capital's city centre.

Donated by Coillte, the fir was cut down in Wicklow earlier today before being transported to the Custom House Quarter.

There it will be given pride of place for the month-long duration of the I BELIEVE festival.

Officially kicking off in just nine days' time, the event will focus around food, gifts and seasonal joy; it will run right up until December 23 too.

And although dwarfed by the famed 38metre Rockefeller tree in New York City, we reckon Ireland's own version will still look pretty special against the city's backdrop.

In true Holidays Are Comin’ style, the organisers have also been busily posting some very exciting snaps to their Twitter account – all, no doubt, to get us in the mood for yuletide treats and fun (let's just say it's worked too).

Set in a "chalet style village" (including an après ski bar), the I BELIEVE market has charity at its roots: the likes of the Temple Street Foundation, Simon Communities Ireland, Childline, Barretstown, and the St Vincent de Paul will all benefit from the event.

Meanwhile, the impressive tree will be lit at the inaugural Annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Thursday November 26 – something which will be free and open to the public.

Santa will be appearing (natch) in the run up to the big day, and visitors can even buy their Christmas trees from a dedicated market at the Point Village.

You can find out more here, while make sure to watch the festive fir being cut down below:
