Cuba Gooding Jr turns himself into NYC police over groping claims
Cuba Gooding Jr has turned himself in to New York police after the Oscar-winning actor was accused of groping a woman in a Manhattan bar last weekend.
According to AFP, a police spokesman confirmed that the 51-year-old actor surrendered on Thursday, but refused to comment on the details of the complaint.
Gooding vehemently denies the charges of grabbing a woman's breast on a night out on Sunday, according to US media reports.
The Hollywood star, who won an Academy Award in 1997 for playing a football player in Jerry Maguire. He was asked about the incident by TMZ on Tuesday at an LA airport, and he claimed "nothing" happened.
"I trust the system. There's a tape that shows what really happened," he said. Apparent footage has appeared online of Gooding Jr and his alleged accuser.
His lawyer told reporters he had "not acted inappropriately in any shape or form" and that a video existed that would see him "totally exonerated".
"He did absolutely nothing wrong," said Mark J Heller. "I frankly am shocked and horrified that this case is being prosecuted."
A second woman has apparently come forward with claims that the actor also groped her in an NYC club back in 2008.
The actor exploded onto the scene in 1991 after appearing in Boyz n the Hood. He recently portrayed OJ Simpson in The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.
