Last July, Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers, made the incredibly misguided decision to secretly photograph a 70-year-old woman she encountered showering in the female locker room of a Californian gym.

Not content to just invade the woman's privacy by secretly photographing her, Dani then went on to share the image online, with the caption: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

And, unsurprisingly, it wasn't long before the 30-year-old was the subject of intense online vitriol, but if Dani thought that was the worst of her problems, she was sorely mistaken.

The model then became the focus of LA authorities, who ultimately charged her with a misdemeanor count of invasion of privacy – a charge she pleaded no contest to in May of this year in court,

With almost twelve months perspective on a case which caused considerable damage to the model's reputation and career, Dani decided to address the fall-out from the past year while chatting with Us Weekly,

Acknowledging that she made a grave error in judgement, Dani said: "I am sorry that it happened to this woman. But I am not sorry about what happened to me."

"My life flipped upside down. But it’s a blessing in disguise," she added.

After taking a year-long break from social media, Dani has realised the significance of her actions, and insists that she doesn't intend to downplay it.

"The bottom line is: "I’m so sorry." I never intended to hurt her. There was a lot of pain caused and I think she would like to put this behind her, as would I."

Having described the episode as a' blessing in disguise' Dani elaborated on her thought process, explaining: "When you’re told how much of a monster you are, it pushes you to look inside."

"I don’t ever want to be someone spitting hate. That’s really what I’ve learned. I also gained a lot of empathy and learned that everybody, at some point, has judged a person."

"Going through this past year and making it to the other side, I know I can handle almost anything," she insisted.

Dani now works with charity, Coupla Guys and Gals Give Back and currently heads up their anti-bullying department.

Back in July Playboy model Dani Mathers hit headlines when she openly bodyshamed an unsuspecting nude gym goer on Snapchap.

And now that police have finally tracked down the victim of Dani’s mocking, it looks like the Playmate could be facing up to six months in jail.

According to TMZ, the woman featured in the controversial snap – who happens to be aged in her seventies – wants Dani to “feel the full force of the law” for photographing her while she was changing in an LA Fitness changing room.

Police are reportedly encouraging prosecutors to charge the former Playmate of the Year with the Dissemination of Private Images for sharing the snap which read: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”

It is said the LA native’s victim is more than willing to testify and cooperate however she can in order to ensure justice is achieved.

Dani was forced to apologise for her actions earlier this summer after receiving huge backlash online when the degrading snap went viral.

In July she wrote on Twitter: “I’m sorry for what I did…I need to take some time to myself now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing.”

The model also used Snapchat to claim she models because she loves the female body and that she understands bodyshaming is wrong.

After being barred from every branch of LA Fitness and suspended from her role on a radio show, Dani Mathers probably thought things couldn’t get much worse, but it looks like she was sorely mistaken.

The Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year, who recently hit headlines for posting an image of a naked woman on Snapchat, has now learned that police in L.A are investigating the matter.

Dani, who has apologised for her actions and insisted that the image was meant for a friend and not her Snapchat followers, has – understandably – received little sympathy following her major social media faux pas.

Commenting on their decision to revoke Dani’s gym membership, Jill Greuling, the executive vice president of LA Fitness said; “Her behaviour is appalling and puts every member at risk of losing their privacy.”

“Our written rules are very clear: cellphone usage and photography are prohibited in the locker rooms. This is not only our rule, but common decency,” she added.

While the LAPD intends to pursue an investigation into the ‘illegal distribution’ of the image, they are unable to proceed until the woman at the centre of the image presents herself to authorities.

According to The Independent, police in LA are urging the woman to contact police, saying: “Without a victim, we can’t go forward.”

With LAPD eager to pursue their line of enquiry, defence attorney Lou Shapiro has asserted that the Mather's actions have far-reaching implications.

"A judge could take a dim view of the action and really want to see her punished," he told the LA Times this week.

Social media went into meltdown this week when Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers, violated another woman's privacy by sharing a nude shot of her on Snapchat.

Publicly mocking the unassuming woman, whom she encountered in a ladies locker room, the model wrote: "If I can't unsee this, neither can you."

Sickened by Dani's disregard for both the woman's privacy and emotional wellbeing, the internet called on the star to apologise which she did  – claiming the photo was posted in error – but it's simply not enough.

Despite insisting that she loves the female form and the post was for a girlfriend and not meant to be seen by the wider public, Dani has been barred from the gym (and all its branches) and suspended from a regular slot on a radio show.

According to TMZ, a representative for the LA Fitness chain confirmed that Dani "is not permitted back at any club, ever" while the powers that be at LA's KLOS radio station have suspended the model indefinitely from her role on the Heidi and Frank Show.

Dani has deleted her Twitter account in the aftermath of the uproar.

No matter how content you are in your own skin, no one feels their best when they have to strip off in the locker room after an intense gym session.

Thankfully, most women have the common decency to turn a blind eye to one another and leave their phones in their lockers when it comes to communal showering, but unfortunately Dani Mathers isn't one of them.

In one seriously d*ck move, the Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year took it upon herself to take a photo of an unassuming naked woman which she then posted to Snapchat.

Shaming the anonymous individual, Dani captioned the picture: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

Thankfully, it looks like Dani's followers are a lot sounder than she is and wasted no time calling out the star on her shameful behaviour.

Realising she didn't have the backing of the public on this one, Dani apologised before suggesting that she had no intention of publicly shaming the woman and the image was only meant for a girlfriend.

Whether for public or personal consumption, it was still Dani that captioned it…
