The festive season may be jolly and bright, but for Ireland’s elderly it can be anything but. As people get involved in Christmas activities and many clubs and organisations close for the holidays, loneliness can have a devastating effect on the older community – something that Age Action is once again highlighting this year.
Lead man of Dublin’s Hunting the Brave, John Sadlier, is raising money for this brilliant cause with his debut solo single, Dare to Dream (this Christmas). All proceeds from the sale of this great Christmas tune go to Age Action, to make the festive season a little better for the country’s older people. Check out the unforgettable tune below:
Hunting the Brave is an alternative folk band hailing from Dublin. Their music is a blend of alternative pop and the soft subtleties of folk, with a dynamic range of guitar and piano-led songs.
Along with John’s first solo single, 2014 has been a huge year for Hunting the Brave, who supported The Coronas and White Lies, and were also firm favourites at all the big festivals, including Indiependence. After all this success, John felt it was only fair to give something back.
“Christmas is an exceptionally tough time for elderly people who face loneliness throughout the year. When I wrote this song, I really wanted to use it to create awareness for those less fortunate than myself. I couldn’t think of a better charity to help than Age Action and I am delighted to be working alongside them this year. If I help one person I will be glad I could make a difference.”
Robin Webster, CEO of Age Action, is thrilled to be involved in this Christmas campaign. ‘We are delighted that John has chosen Age Action this Christmas. By downloading the song Dare to Dream the public not only get a great single but also help our work with vulnerable older people this Christmas’.
Dare to Dream (This Christmas) is available on iTunes from November 19th 2014. Follow Hunting the Brave on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with news.
