Ireland's west coast will once again be home to a blockbuster Star Wars cast and crew this summer, with preparations in motion for Lucasfilm to return to Kerry.

Skellig Michael, off the coast of Kerry, featured prominently in the final scenes of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, and according to new reports, the cast will return to film at Ceann Sibéál on the Dingle Peninsula for Episode VIII.

Building contractors have already begun installing a 1.5km metal roadway to facilitate the transportation of filming equipment to the remote area.

Although the Irish Film Board is keeping official details of the filming plans under wraps, RTÉ note that – according to local knowledge – the cast are expected to film there for at least two weeks in May.

Local landowners have been asked to enter into access agreements with Lucasfilm, while hotel and holiday accommodation owners have also been made aware of the plans.

Star Wars: Epiosde VIII will be directed by Rian Jackson and will see Episode VII cast members Domhnall Gleeson, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega returning, with Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran all rumoured to be on board.

When one Dingle man innocently posted an advertisement to the Dingle What's On page, he probably did not expect it to garner the reaction it has.

Having had over 8.5 thousand reactions at the time of writing and picked up by national news websites, it's safe to say his wife at home is going to be less than impressed.

The couple had recently adopted a little pup only to find out that Siobhan was in fact allergic to dogs. But instead of posting a straight forward ad to the page, this cheeky husband instead decided to have a little fun.

"This is Lexi, she's an 8 week-old German Sheppard," begins the seemingly innocuous post.

"I bought Lexi as a surprise for my wife but it turns out she is allergic to dogs so we are now looking to find her a new home.

"Her name is Siobhan, she is 39 years old, a beautiful and caring woman who drives, is a great cook and keeps a good house."

Touché, good sir.

Though many of the commenters are now commending the man's bravery considering the wrath that may be felt when he returns home.

"Celibacy is in your future," said one poster, to which the man responds: "If she gets hold of me I don't think I'll have anything to be uncelibate with!"

Ouch, but we still can't blame him. Just LOOK at that pup's little face…

Castlewood House in beautiful Dingle has been voted the best bargain hotel in the world. Yes, the world!

And that’s not all for the little B&B – they were also named No. 1 Best Small Hotel in Ireland.

The boutique hotel received the prestigious awards when TripAdvisor unveiled their 2014 Traveller Choice awards, as voted by travellers.

The pretty Co. Kerry hotel also ranked 70th in the world and second in Europe in the category of small hotel.

The bed and breakfast is Dingle’s newest boutique property and owners Helen and Brian Heaton boast that their hotel’s attention to detail sets the “standards where others follow.”

Obviously the owners were chuffed with the win.  Helen said: “It’s great for us and our whole team here. We put our heart and soul into the whole operation and when you get an accolade like that it is a great morale booster for everybody.”

She also believes that running a business is “very much a labour of love”. It’s obvious that the husband and wife love their hotel quite a lot.
