Over the weekend, San Francisco’s Ocean Beach was the host of the second annual NorCal CorgiCon Fall Beach Day.

Also know by corgi lovers, and just canine fans in general as the best day ever.

Founded by residents of San Francisco just last year, the festival was set up to honour the humble corgi. It also raises money for animal rescue efforts, with proceeds going to West Coast organisations along with Corgi Aid and Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.

This weekend’s main event was the Corgi Costume Contest, in which approximately 630 dogs participated.

There were also various games, races and raffles rounded out Saturday’s soirée. Raffles! Who doesn't love a good raffle?

The Bay Area party actually comes around twice a year, once in the summer and once in autumn. Even if corgi fanatics can’t make it out to the beach to party with corgis, they can still support the cause. The CorgiCon website allows dog lovers to stock up on merchandise, learn about the event various sponsors and donate to animal shelters.

But before you do anything else, please look at these snaps from CorgiCon’s Costume Contest below — you can thank us later.

Guaranteed mood boosters those corgis are.

There are pricey designer pooches – poms, pugs and cockapoos – and then there are the dogs that are worth MEGA five-figure sums.

Step forward the Phu Quoc ridgeback; with just 800 specimens globally, it is largely regarded as the world's rarest breed.

And while it's very unusual to spot the hounds in this part of the world, a litter-of-four has now arrived in Brighton

Indeed, owner Catherine Lane is the only person in Europe to successfully breed the animal: after falling in love with the breed while on holidays, she travelled back to Vietnam to get her hands on proud daddy, Sirius, and thrilled mum, Moon.

Ms Lane has now received lucrative offers from around the world, with dozens of dog-lovers eager to give the pups a new home.

Now eight weeks' old, they will be ready to leave their parents in another two weeks.

Catherine explained to Mail Online: "One puppy is already being exported to a Dallas-based Danish couple, while the other two have been snapped up by owners in Milan and the Seychelles."

Phu Quoc share their name with the Vietnamese island from which they originate and are known to be attractive, highly intelligent and easy to train.

They also sport a long strip of Mohawk hair along their spine, much like the Rhodesian ridgeback – which hails from Zimbabwe – does.

Catherine furthermore gushed: "The dogs themselves are stunning.

"Every walk along the beach means I get stopped on average by four or five people wanting to know what they are and admiring them."

Furry friends have previously been unable to join us on our jaunts abroad – but it seems all that may change shortly.

Yes, Ryanair has announced that it is now considering implementing a policy that would allow passengers to bring their pups into the cabin with them.

Although owners of larger breeds will still have to leave their hounds at home: weight restrictions mean only smaller canines would be permitted.

Chief commercial officer David O'Brien said this week: "We are open to lots of suggestions, it's one we're looking at.

"It could be quite difficult. What makes one person happy would make another unhappy.

"But we'd be interested to hear what people think."

The likes of Iberia currently accepts pets in the cabin, so long as the animals weigh less than 8kg.

At the moment, cats, dogs and ferrets can be taken on board flights within the EU without the need for quarantine, but they all need to be vaccinated, microchipped and have a pet passport.

If you thought that you were a dedicated pet owner then we are sorry but this man has put everyone to shame.

Eugene Bostick is an 80-year old from Fort Worth, Texas. He and his brother, Corky, created together the magical invention called the dog train.

This is the coolest guy he rescues stray dogs and every morning he takes them for a train ride by our building, i finally got the courage up to ask if I could take his pic! Love this and had to share!

Posted by Tiffany Johnson on Thursday, 17 September 2015

The siblings have cared for the wildlife near their home for the last three decades. They also noticed a lot of stray dogs near their road and began to pick them up and take them. This led to the fantastic idea for the dog train.

They wanted to be able to bring their canine family with them as they took trips around their town. When Eugene saw a tractor pulling multiple carts behind it, he realised he could do the same thing for the dogs.

“I’m 80 now, so I suppose it can’t last too much longer” he told The Dodo “but I’ll keep it going as long as I can.”

He also said the dogs get “so excited” about their weekly train rides.

Well, we can see why.

Canine pals Phoebe and Tillie were reunited with their owners this week, but there was a very special story behind their return.

Tillie, a Setter mix and Phoebe, a Basset hound, went missing earlier this month in Seattle, and their owners feared the worst.

With no sightings of the pair after almost a week, it seemed more and more likely they could be stuck in a building or a ravine.

Thankfully, at the beginning of this week a pet service in the area got a call to say a "reddish" coloured dog matching Tillie's description had been spotted outside a house before disappearing into a nearby wooded area.

Volunteers from VIPP, the Vashon Island Pet Protection service, started a wide search of the woods, and what they found was truly amazing.

Tillie was standing guard over her four-legged pal Phoebe, who had become trapped in a cement 'cistern,' a large receptacle built to hold rainwater.

Luckily she was uninjured and had stayed above water by sitting on a pile of bricks, but the height of the wall left her physically unable to get out.

"For nearly a week Tillie stayed by her side with the exception of the few minutes of each day when she went for help," VIPP explained via Facebook.

Both dogs were cold and hungry but otherwise in happy spirits when found.

Offering advice to dog owners, VIPP's Amy Carey told Daily Mail that a disappearance with no sightings should be taken very seriously.

"My message to most people with missing dogs is that unless the dog is being seen periodically, it is likely stuck somewhere," she said. "That's where the amazing Miss Tillie steps in as the heroine of this story."

What a happy ending!

Sassy canines of Instagram are a major weakness of ours: we love following their adventures and seeing them get into mischief. And we just-about melt when a particularly adorable pooch marks a milestone event, such as birthdays and anniversaries, online.

But if observing the antics of a Satateside hound (and most of them do tend to be US-based) is absorbing – wait until you meet Jake.

Yes, we'll admit that lately we've been positively bowled over by this adorable brindle Staffie – whose adventures around Dublin city are documented via the popular @jakefiles.

And nope, we're not the only ones – more than 2,000 people now follow Jake as he travels to the Phoenix Park to observe the deer, visits the Garden Of Remembrance to pay his respects, and says hello to Patrick Kavanagh by the banks of the Grand Canal.

Here, SHEmazing! rounds up the very best of Jake's escapades:

So you know how soul destroying it is when someone promises you something and then rip it away from you at the very last second? Yes, well as it turns out it is not just humans who have felt this pain.

Julio from Las Vegas managed to capture that exact emotion when his husky Yuka was denied the last piece of Julio’s burger. After he shared the image on Imgur, it quickly went viral.

It looks a part of her soul has died on the inside.

A whole spectrum of emotions are captured right there; pain, shock, disappointment, anger and betrayal.

How could you this Julio?

Not to worry though, Julio told Buzzfeed that Yuka is normally tried to pretty much any other meals being eaten in the household.

Baked chicken, veggies, or fruit. She’s a healthy eater,” he explained. He also added, “She always sleeps in my bed and needs a pillow to lay her head on at night."

I don't fit anymore, Mom. #siberianhusky #husky #huskypuppy #puppylove

No fear of Yuka getting the short end of the stick again soon then.  In fact, her betrayal only comes a close second to this year’s top husky moment:

There is also the worst of all pet owner betrayals ever:

Don't get us wrong, we love our pets.

They cheer us up when we're sad, make us laugh with their funny gestures and even cuddle us when we're cold. But when a pet becomes more fashionable than you could EVER hope to be, it's probably time to start rethinking a few things.

These chic fur-balls have better clothes, better accessories and probably better hair than we will ever have.

Here's a look at the fashionable life of the fluffy elite:

Marni and Chubby Beckerman (@beckermanblog)

These chic pooches share an IG page with their owners, Cailli and Sam. Expect to see a lot of funky fashion from these two.

Cecil Delevingne (@cecildelevingne)

Cara Delevingne's bunny has her own Instagram account and probably has better accessories to wear than any of us.

Trotter poses in everything from floppy hats to six-inch heels – and looks totally fierce while doing so.

Menswear Dog (@mensweardog)

He dresses better than your boyfriend. Fact.

The cutest IG you will ever come across, this dog can't help but smile while wearing the finest outfits.

If there’s one thing that is guaranteed to get people smiling around these parts, it is going to be an adorable dog.

Another thing that makes us really happy, when the adorable dog has some equally adorable best friends.

That is exactly what happened when Annie, from Tasmania, Australia introduced her shar pei Paddington to her other pets, London, Butler and Sailor. Paddington and his three feline friends live a life that is just made to give us all of the feels and want to run out and buy our own super soft dog with ridiculously cute wrinkles.

Paddington also has a great wardrobe:

He will even coordinate his colour scheme to his pals:

Paddington is also a fan of the original Paddington:

Paddington and Butler make teamwork look easy:

They also enjoying napping together:

Thank you Paddington and pals for brightening up our day. If you feel the need to spend more time with the cuddly guy, the group have their own Facebook page, enjoy.

It took us a while to contain ourselves after the ‘King of the Man Bun’ was crowned as superhero doppelgänger Brock O’Hurn, but this latest take on the up-do trend it getting us all worked up again.

Floating around on social media for a while now, #DogBun is probably the cutest fashion statement to be made so in 2015.

People are making loose buns and top knots for their pooches and posting the results on social media.

The results are pretty spectacular, we rounded up just a few of our favourites, after much deliberation mind you.

Obviously no one wants to hurt their pooch in the name of fashion. Something to consider if you want to give the trend a try: your dogs ears shouldn't be tied up with a rubber band for any long periods of time, soft cloth or old school scrunchies should be fine though. Such as what this pup is modelling:

Accessories on point.
