Downton Abbey producer reveals a second movie is in the works
Downton Abbey fans, we’ve got some wonderful news for you.
A second movie is on the way!
Producer Gareth Neame revealed that they are currently in talks about creating a second Downton Abbey movie.
He told The Hollywood Reporter that they had this idea even before the first movie was released.
He said, “We started vaguely thinking about it [a sequel] before the release of the movie. But we were kind of holding our breath.”
Gareth explained that the stellar reaction to the Downton Abbey movie blew them away, “The reaction to the film, the press tour in the U.S. and the buildup to release were so strong that we'd been thinking about it.
He added, "It was clear from the first weekend that this was worth taking very seriously".
The team has yet to decide on a storyline, but there’s no doubt it’ll be just as fabulous as the first film.
“We're working on what the story is, and when we might be able to make it.”
However, the one hurdle they need to overcome is getting the entire cast together again. Trying to find a space in their schedules that works for everyone is going to be tricky.
“We have to try to get everyone back together again. And that was very challenging,” Gareth added.
“The challenge will be, is everyone available at the same time? Can we make deals with them? That will be the challenge.”
We seriously need this to happen!
