Love Island's Dr Alex George has reunited with his girlfriend after two months apart. The doctor has been busy working on the frontline as healthcare workers tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK. Alex had time away from working as a doctor at Lewisham hospital to enjoy a socially distanced picnic with girlfriend Amelia Bath this week.

The former reality star couldn't help but gush about his beau, "After SO long apart what a feeling to finally see you AB. So close yet so far staying 2 meters apart.. but right now we will take what we can get x"

Another shared, "Awwww so lovely you been able to see each other. Must have been very hard for you both to not just need a cuddle after all of this."

"So happy for you both and your socially distanced reunion!" said one fan.

The doctor opened up about how tricky it has been for him. He told the MailOnline, "I haven’t seen Amelia or any friends or family for four weeks now. Going home from a frantically busy and noisy A&E department to the silence of an empty flat is tough. There’s no one to offload to; no opportunity to touch or be held."

The new UK lockdown guidelines allow two people from different households to meet up once they practice social distancing.

It seems that despite not finding love on Love Island, Dr Alex is now loved up. 

Alex has gone public with his new relationship with Ibiza Weekender's Amelia Bath.

The reunion, which will air tonight, looks like solid entertainment as the awkward, yet hilarious moments are plentiful.

Cue Alex's red-faced embarrassment when his fellow contestant forgets his existence entirely.

Later on, Alex is one-on-one with the camera and he addressed the AWKS dinner moment.

"Thanks, Hayley. I’m literally sat right there. Not many seats down from her and she forgot completely who I was,” he said.

The reunion will air tonight (Monday) at 9 pm on ITV2.

Love Island’s Dr Alex George has confirmed that he is returning to his day job. The doctor turned reality star admitted he has missed working in A&E and has been longing to go back over the past few months.

The A&E doctor explained why he made this major decision: “Love Island was the experience of a lifetime, but ever since I left the villa I've genuinely missed working for the NHS.”

“I'll be using my platform to raise awareness around health issues among young people,” he explained.

The world watched in awe, as weeks passed in the Love Island villa and still, Dr Alex could not find true love. 

 Dr Alex eventually coupled up with newcomer Alexandra, but the pair definitely did not get on romantically.

The pair seem to be new workout buddies, with Alex bringing her immeasurable skills as a snowboarder to the fitness regimen, and the pair are pictured on Alex's page trying out some yoga moves.

Over in the A&E doctor-turned reality TV star's Instagram story, the couple can be seen enjoying a healthy brunch of avocado and eggs.
