Much of the world may have been delighted (or stunned) by Germany’s win but something tells us the Róisín Dubh in Galway is not one of them!

For every goal scored, Brahma went down by 0.50c while German beer Erdinger went down by the same amount. Needless to say, Erdinger was the order of the night and the price dropped to 0.50c after Germany’s epic defeat over Brazil.

Róisín Dubh uploaded an image of their barman working hard to take all the orders, writing: “That’s Johnny working overtime at the erdinger tap after 7 goals by Germany dropped the price to 50c tonight.”

If you thought the water charges were bad, then feast your eyes on the $8 ice cubes from Glace Luxury Ice Co.

The company have created “a zero-taste(TM) profile ice which, unlike traditional ice products, allows the consumer to maximize the beverage experience”.

Hmm, we can’t remember if our average ice ever did anything other than maximise our beverage experience by making it nice and cold, but according to Glace:

“Traditional machine-ice, generally made with local tap water, may contain upwards of 150 impurities and carcinogens, resulting in poor tasting and potentially unhealthy ice.”

We’ll take their word for it….

Having a few drinks is a massive part of our culture.

But sometimes drinking too much can have a bad effect on us, from hangovers to being general unhealthy for our bodies.

Here are some ways you can cut back on your alcohol intake without drawing lots of questions.

1. Eat a good dinner
Having a big dinner before you start drinking is key. It means you won’t be slurring your words after a glass of wine!

2. Plan
Settle on the number of drinks you will have when you are out and stick to it.

3. Hydrate
Dehydration causes hangovers. To avoid this drink water frequently throughout the night.

4. Go alcohol free
There is a massive range of alcohol free beers, mocktails and even wine out there. So you can still avoid alcohol without sacrificing taste. Perhaps you could make every second drink an alcohol free one.

5. Drink slowly
The slower you intake the drink, the longer it will last. This is healthier for your body and your purse!

Most of us are guilty of not drinking enough water. We either don’t like the taste, can’t be bothered or just forget to keep topping up the water bottle

But drinking water is so important for your health. and it’s recommended we drink around eight glasses a day

Here are five reasons to make sure you’re drinking enough water every day.

1. Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluids
Your body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, creation of saliva and maintenance of body temperature.

2. Water can help control calories.
While water doesn’t have any magical effect on weight loss, substituting it for higher calorie drinks can certainly help.

3. Water helps energise muscles.
Cells that don’t maintain their balance of fluids and electrolytes shrivel, which can result in muscle fatigue. Drinking enough fluids is extra important when exercising.

4. Water helps keep skin looking good.
Your skin contains plenty of water, and functions as a protective barrier to prevent excess fluid loss.

5. Water helps your kidneys.
Body fluids transport waste products in and out of cells. Your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate

Masterchef Ireland is returning to our screens tonight.

With the high standards that have been shown in the last few years, we can’t wait to see what this year’s amateur chefs have in store.

During the launch of the TV programme, Dylan McGrath addressed why he enjoys doing the show and the growing awareness of food in Ireland: “We do the show because we have a ball making it and also because it is giving restaurants the boost they need. I think it is an incredible time for restaurants in Ireland … Ireland has become a real food nation.”

Dylan McGrath runs the famous Rustic Stone restaurant on George’s St  as well as Fade St. Social on Fade St. in Dublin. He will be joined on Masterchef Ireland once again by Nick Munier, co-owner of Pichet restaurant in Trinty Lane, Dublin.

Masterchef Ireland will air Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8.30pm on RTÉ  One.

Eek, this is scary! And also quite disgusting.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland have reported a 12.5% rise in the number of complaints to their advice line last year.

Some of the issues mentioned included a dirty fingernail found in baby food, meat in a chocolate yoghurt and a chicken head in a bag of frozen chicken wings.

Live insects were also reported in a packet of dates and a human tooth in a Chinese takeaway.

The Hepatitis A outbreak reportedly caused by imported frozen raspberries resulted in 267 calls while the horse meat scandal surprisingly only accumulated 33 calls.
