Your driving test can be one of the most nerve-wrecking things you'll ever have to go through.

From sitting in that dodgy waiting area to having to deal with probably the grumpiest person on earth – it's no easy feat.

And even though you might have practised day-in-day-out, there's no guarantee what will happen on the day in question.

But if you really want to pass, the RSA has revealed which centres have the highest success rate… and the lowest.

Sligo has been named as the county with the most passes, while Rathgar in Dublin has been ranked with the highest failure rate.

The statistics from the RSA show that these places have the highest pass rate:

  • Sligo (72%)
  • Ennis, Co Clare (71%)
  • Roscommon (68%)
  • Loughrea, Co Galway (65.5%)
  • Clifden (65.3%)

While these places have the highest failure rate (In other words, totally AVOID):

  • Rathgar (57.1%)
  • Tallaght, Co Dublin (53.3%)
  • Shannon, Co Clare (52.9%)
  • Naas, Co Kildare (52.57%)
  • Wicklow (51.9%)

There you have it ladies, now it's all up to you.

For anyone struggling to off-load their provisional licence – there is now a seriously handy tip that makes you far more likely to pass your test.

Yes, those who take to the roads in the morning are an incredible 50 percent more likely to be successful than those who take afternoon or evening tests.

And the same applies for exams and job interviews too.

Researchers from the Danish National Centre For Social Research attribute this difference to 'cognitive function' – aka your brain’s power to think and do.

To come up with their results, which were published in the academic journal PNAS, they looked at two million tests taken by schoolchildren aged 8-15 across a three year period.

And they found that results dipped 0.9 percent for each subsequent hour the papers were completed.

So students taking an exam at 3pm scored 54 per cent lower than those who took the same exam at 9am.

However, rather than resigning yourself to hibernating after lunch, the study also revealed that there are tips and tricks to better conquer brain fatigue – namely the art of the short nap.

Indeed, a rest of just 20-30 before taking your driving test would improve your chances of success by an average of 1.7 per cent.

Preparing for your driving test can be a most stressful time, that’s a well-known fact. There’s a lot of pressure building up to that all important day.

One thing you probably don’t realise if you’re attempting to get your hands on one of those all-important pink licences is that the stress can take its toll on your nearest and dearest too.

Which is apparently exactly what happened yesterday to one unfortunate soul.

According to a report in the Irish Daily Star, an incident involving a man and his female relative required Gardaí to arrive and diffuse the situation.

A source told the paper the man “went ballistic and arrived up at the driving test centre, where he issued threats to staff.”

The young woman had left the centre without any fuss after failing her test and apparently it all kicked off when she told the man her unfortunate results.

“The threats were fairly heavy, as the staff were frightened by them and immediately rang the gardai."

The particular centre in Tallaght is actually one of the busiest in the country. The waiting list there is reported to be 11 weeks long. Well, we understand it can be a bit of a pain playing chauffeur to your family and friends but this takes it to a whole new level.

The Independent reports that after the gardai were called the man then left the centre, but not before causing a serious scene.

Following his disturbance the centre was forced to cancel any tests yet to be taken on the day. So therefore creating more delays for anyone waiting to retake their test? Not a good start to the weekend for some unlucky Dubliners.
