Dublin

We love Amy Schumer purely because she's so hilarious, but it turns out she's a pretty sound gal too.

Amy was in Dublin this week (which sent her Irish fans into overdrive) and decided to have some grub before her show last night.

The comedian went to Doheny & Nesbitt on Baggot Street, and when leaving, left a $100 tip for the waitress.

Thank you Dublin we had the best time!

Instagram user Joey Bagnall shared a picture of Amy's receipt and $100 bill beside it.

He captioned the snap: “Big shoutout to @amyschumer for being a sound customer when I was trying to run the Cellar Bar by myself tonight and an even bigger shout out to her and her friend for managing to stomach 4 main courses!

"Your tip has made this waitresses day, maybe week. Best of luck with your show! #amyschumer.”

How sound!

In news that will definitely brighten up your Friday, Krystal nightclub is giving away FREE booze tonight.

No, we're not joking.

According to Lovin Dublin, the Harcourt hangout is throwing a 'Closing Down Party' tonight and wants to give its customers a proper send off by giving out free drink between 11pm – 12.30am tonight.

And if you're a regular to Krystal, don't worry, it's not actually closing down. It's going through a €1 million refurbishment, so you can bet it'll look pretty slick when it opens again in November.

See you at 11?!

We all know the deal. You finally plan a night out with your friends, but of course there's bickering about where to go, what to eat and what to wear.

After many Whatsapp squabbles here in Shemazing HQ, we think the easiest option is to STAY in one place because, well… nice shoes and rain don't go together.

That, and no one wants to have to move from one place to another on a night out – least of all because you'll lose half of your squad during the transfer… And that's never a good night.

So if you, like us, rather have everything in one place, then here's 5 of our fave places for dinner and dancing in Dublin:

1. Pichet

Coming in at number one is Pichet, just off Dame Street. The restaurant has just gone through a major refurbishment and is looking better (and cooler) than ever.

Sit back and relax on a Friday or Saturday night with its new cocktail and late-night bites menu. As well as that, DJ Rui Guerra will play all your favourite tunes so you can party away until the early hours.

2. Farrier & Draper

Right in the heart of the creative quarter in Dublin, this is a must-go-to spot. With a wide selection of spirits, whiskeys and craft beers, it's the perfect place for the savvy drinker.

It also stays open until 2.30am, so if you have the energy after eating all the fab food, it's the perfect place to boogie the night away.

3. Soder + Ko

Inspired by Scandinavian creativity and chilled out sophistication, this hot spot on George's Street is great if you want some quality food and drink. It opens its doors 7 days a week, and some nights it doesn't close until 3am.

With private boots and sprawling sofas, you can come here for work or play. Handy!

4. Opium

The food in Opium on Wexford Street is just out of this world. The Pan Asian cuisine and immense cocktail bar makes it perfect whether you're on date night or girls night.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Opium is open until late, so there's no worries here about moving place and getting soaked in the Irish rain.

5. Odessa

With four floors featuring a restaurant, a club, a bar and a roof terrace, you could spend your whole day in Odessa on Dame Court.

The restaurant serves everything from brunch to anti pasti plates, and the late night DJ will bang out the tunes for everyone to enjoy.

Jonah Hill is one of our favourite actors, so we were delighted to find out he loves Dublin just as much as we love him.

Apparently, we're "really special" people here!

The actor hasn't been in the capital for two years, having travelled here to promote 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum in 2014, however he said it's a place he'll always remember.

"I want to get back [to Ireland] so bad," he told RTÉ Entertainment. "I really love Dublin.

"I think it's a special place, the people are really special.

"Honestly, I judge a place by the people, and in Dublin the people have a really special demeanour, very self-deprecating, very funny, just good to be around."

Awwww! We <3 Jonah.

They're pretty much one of our fave couples: Andrea Roche model Holly Keating and Michael McCarthy, a former Dublin footballer who lifted the Sam Maguire back in 2011.

And now – we are happy to report – the loved-up duo are ENGAGED!

Yup, Michael popped the question over the weekend at Co. Wickow's Kilruddery House, with 27-year-old Bray-native Holly immediately saying 'yes!'

We can't say we blame her either: the ring is definitely mega-bling: a gorgeous solitaire stone cut in a circular fashion and flanked by smaller rocks. *Swoon*

Ms Keating also shared a snap of the happy couple on social media – with friends and family quickly rushing to offer their congratulations.

The pair met on a night out but their relationship really blossomed on Facebook. Although Holly has admitted that at first she wasn't exactly au fait with his chosen sport.

"I didn't even know what shape the ball for Gaelic football was!" she previously told independent.ie.

She added: "I love GAA now. Michael trains four times a week and has a match at the weekend. I'm just in awe of his commitment to it."

Jean Bernard Fernandez Versini has certainly had a hectic few months.

Not only did he have a very public split with Cheryl, but he also took a fancy to Irish MIC star Nicola Hughes.

And it seems he has a little crush on the Irish as he wants to open his next restaurant in Dublin.

An insider close to the star said: “JB has been working on his restaurant project in London which is going to be huge, the next logical move is Ireland.

If you're around Dublin city centre this Monday August 15 and you fancy a FREE cheeseburger – you might want to swing by the newly-revamped Gourmet Burger Kitchen

That's because to mark its reopening, the popular eatery will be doling out no fewer than 500 freebies.

Explaining that the GBK cheeseburger is made from a "100 percent grass fed Irish beef burger, topped with applewood smoked Irish cheddar cheese served in a glazed sesame topped bun," a statement confirming the offer was released this afternoon to SHEmazing.

“These are exciting times for GBK Ireland,” the statement added. “And what better way to celebrate the opening than by giving away hundreds of our most popular burger.”

Some €3.5million has been spent doing up GBK's Temple Bar restaurant – and the space now boasts the likes of bespoke banquettes, retro style laminate tables, and enviable terrace seating outside.

Back in 2001, three Kiwi guys set up the first Gourmet Burger Kitchen in London. It now has a total of five restaurants in Dublin.

Desperate Housewives was certainly something we all binge-watched growing up. The glamour, the drama… the crazy.

But now, a little bit of that has come to Ireland, in the name of Felicity Huffman.

Yep, the actress touched down on our green shores this week to celebrate her daughter's birthday.

The star took to Twitter to share some pictures of her stay at Ashford Castle, Co Mayo.

She wrote: "This might be the most beautiful place I have ever been to.

My girl is 16 this week and we're off on an adventure."

She also said that she's going to be spending some time in Dublin, so watch out ladies!

Some big changes are coming to Croke Park soon.

In a joint development between Croke Park Stadium and Dublin City Council, Croke Villas flats are about to be no more.

The project, will see the flats (which are mostly boarded up) being demolished, then done up again, as well as a processional boulevard for the sports stadium.

The boulevard will be the only match-day entrance for sports fans, which will take away much of the chaos that surrounds Croke Park when there's a game on.

The project which will cost €12m, will not only involve the demolition and redevelopment of the apartment complex, but also Sackville Avenue widening, the construction of new homes across from the apartment complex, and also refurbishing seven new houses on the Ballybough Road.

According to 98fm, a resident from the Croke Villa flats said she's hoping to move into one of the new houses.

"For starters, it would be like winning the Lotto. We're all waiting to go and we've been told for the last 8 years that we're going.

"Anything has to be better than what's here."

The construction is said to begin in the next few months.
